I tested out three drivers the local golf shop range simulator, the Nike 400cc, R580, and R580XD. Nike 400cc, 250 yards straight. R580, 240 yards a little off to the left. R580XD, constantly hitting 265 stright. I haven't try the new Nike Ignite yet, but for now, R580XD is in my bag. Beside the distance, the club head appears to be oversize, which is a plus for many beginners. Customer Service okay. Similar Products Used: Nike Ignite |

most forgiving driver ever made in my opinion.I always stugled with accuracy not with distance. took it out today for the first game this year, first hole, first time hitting the club,on a verry wet golf course wham!260 yard dead center. tought it was luck ,but no,they where all like that.shure i missed a couple but never really penalised me. I was always a long hitter, but today was scarry. longest 326 yards.temperature in montreal today 60 degres. and it will carry much more than that.still hard to belive how forgiving and LONG Customer Service none Similar Products Used: tommy armour forged persimon, titleist LFE,taylor made 320,wilson deep red,and just about everything else out there |

Upon waiting to pay for some range balls, I checked out the demo section of drivers. On a whim I grabbed one of the R580XD's off of the rack. Warmed up hitting some balls with my irons and current Cobra driver. I was hitting the ball well and my driver was carrying roughly to the 250 stake. Pulled out the R580XD and couldn't beleive my eyes. Straight down the middle carrying the 250 stake. I thought this can't be. Hit another one, same thing and another and another. Same results, straight down the middle with an ever so slight fade. Pulled my Cobra back out and was hitting to the 250 stake. R580XD over the 250 stake. Needless to say, this driver is one of the longest and most forgiving drivers I have ever hit. It definitely lives up to its hype, long and straight. I thought I would have control issues with the larger head, but it was extremely forgiving and the ball just jumped off of the face. Went back to the clubhouse and bought the Demo right out of the rack. The pocket book took a little hit, but after a few more times using it, I think it was well worth the money. It is hard to put a price on finding the deep part of the fairway day in and day out. Likes - Long, Straight, Forgiving Dislikes - the "Bill" (but as stated hard to put a price tag on consistency) Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: Cobra SS350 Launcher 400 Big Bertha II |

I decided to get a new driver since I didn't think I was geting everything I could out of the Titlieist 975J-VS that I was using for about a year. Fred golf center has a launch montior so I set up an appointment. The Taylor Made was one of approx 5 drivers I tried. Nothing came close to the Taylor Made for me. Finally in nailing down my ball spin rate, launch angle, and swing speed, I went with a TM 12 degree with a Harmon designs stiff custom shaft by UST. The demo TM I was using was a 10.5 degree. Per the lunch monitor excel grid, the optimal driver for me would be a 12 degree, which is the one I bought. Who would have thought, 12 degree? For reference, my Titleist was a 9.5 degree with a UST proforce65. My swing speed was clocking on average at a 110 mph. Per the lunch monitor with the Titleist, my max distance (carry) was 221 yards. With the TM it was 262. Big difference. I only have had a chance to get out to the driving range twice. Huge difference over the Titleist. Staight and long with a nice trajectory. I don't think I could have hit it off line if I tried. I highly recommend the Taylor Made. Expensive yes, but for me customizing was worth it. Customer Service I received my driver in 8 days. The R580 XD lives up to its name! You will get 20 to 50 yards of extra distance out of this club. A perfect hit in the heart of the sweetspot will send the ball into orbit. IT IS A LOT OF FUN TO HIT! and yes, it is like swinging a Volkswagen!! Similar Products Used: Hippo, Nicklaus Airmax, Taylor made Burner 420. I much prefer a slightly closed club face which seems to be a Taylor made trademark. |
