This driver is amazing. I put it in my bag this year and added another 40 yards to my drive. I am now consistently hitting the ball around 300-315 yards per drive. I suggest anyone who is looking for a forgiving driver to give this a try. It is worth it.

For years I have been struggling off the tee. When I hit it well, it went but I only hit it well about 50% of the time. This year I went through 3 drivers: Great Big Bertha, Taylormade 360 and finally settled on the Titleist 975 J which I liked and hit well (averaged about 250). After I saw the Taylormade 580XD and hit it in the shop, I bought one on eBay. This driver is the best feeling, longest hitting, straightest running driver I have ever hit. I can swing as hard as I want (the harder the better!) and know that it is going right down the pipe. I am hitting most fairways and flying the ball over 260 yards consistantly!!! I love hitting this club. The big (440cc) head is so light that there is no discomfort in swinging such a big head. My playing companions are absolutely amazed that I am outdriving them by 20-30 yards and keeping the ball in play. I can't say enough about the 580XD. Buy it and you will love it. As an added benefit, it is a beautiful looking club as well.

A bit expensive, like all name-brand drivers, but worth it. I can hit it real long with good consistency and accuracy (I am MUCH more confident and comfortable hitting the R580 than my woods or even a low iron off the tee) the head can be a little intimidating at first, but you get used to it

WOW! I am currently 16 years old with a swing speed of about 105 mph. I had yet to ever own a big headed driver. I owned a Callaway Steelhead driver for about 6 months and decided to give the R580, R540, Cleveland launcher 400 and the King Cobra SS 427 a try. The Cobra and TM R540 were no match for the launcher and the 580. My drives with my steelhead averaged about 235 yards. The launcher and the R580 averaged an unbelievable 255-270 yards. The launcher felt great but wasnt as accurate as the R580. I decided to go with the R580 and have been happy ever since. You cant go wrong with this club because of the accuracy and good distance. If you are interested in this club, first look on Ebay, there are many great deals on there and i got it as a steal for $190 Brand New.

I used to use the Callaway Hawkeye VFT driver that I could work but lacks in distance. My usual drives were between 250-280. That distance would be pretty good except my swing speed was measured at 123mph at a golf school in Arizona. After 2 years, I decided to give TaylorMade a try. I've immediately added distance and accuracy. Can't really work it but you don't need to when you stripe it down the middle with this one. The distance is now 270-300 and that puts a smile on my face everytime I crank one down the middle. I also drove my first green on a par 4 with this one. 335 yards!! WOW!! Best driver I've ever had in over 20 years of playing.

I have been with the same Orlimar 9.5 degree driver for about 5 years, I thought it worked well...then I tried this club. Although much tougher to work, and I don't hit it any farther,it is a saving grace in consistency and also huge in making a BAD swing work out reasonably well. I never thought I would be swinging a large cc club, but I am sure glad I took the plunge

Just purchased a Taylor Made R580 XD with an MAS 65 regular flex shaft. I've played with it twice and I love it. With this club I am consistently hitting the ball 250 - 275 yards in the fairway. I obviously am thrilled with it because I am now hitting the ball with or past some of my buddies that I always considered long drivers. Prior to using this club my drives were usually 225 yards but not always down the middle. I have only used it three times because it is new. The best part is that all my drives are now within the confines of the fairway and usually right down the middle. I must admit that it took some getting used to because the head is 440cc. I took it to the driving range about three times before using it and found out that I must use 2and 3/4 inch tees. Also I have adjusted my address by teeing it as high as possible and holding the club face off the ground behind the ball at address in order to consistently hit the sweet-spot. I am sure that this also has made a big difference. The head of the club is so large and forgiving that even sweet-spot misses are decent drives. I am still experimenting with this club and plan to increse my swing speed in the future. By the way, I was able to get this great price on this club because I bought it from 2nd Swing which is a new and used club retail outlet and I traded in two clubs to offset the normal price which is $399.99 almost everywhere. I'll be playing again tomorrow at Belterra Casino in Indiana, which by the way is a great golf course and can't wait to hit my new driver again.

ebay has some great deals on new 580s mine is 8.5 degree with grafolloy blue stiff shaft. this club is at least 15 yds longer than my cleveland launcher and straighter. recomend you try different lofts and shafts to find the right mix. I was suprised how dramatic different combos can be.

I usually change driver once every 6-9 mths. Had this in my bag for the last 12. Was tempted to try new drivers from Titlest, Nike & 580XD but after every game, am contented with 580 driver. I am not long but I tend to be in the fairway most of the time. What I need now is a swing coach to increase my swing speed.

To start: I live in England and these clubs are £399 ($650). Could not believe my ebay eyes when I see the price of $218, so bought it and got it UPS to my door from USA for only $29. Perhaps there are loads of these now, given that the new R580 XD has surfaced? Anyway, I've been a Callaway man for years having the BB and BBB. As you might know, great clubs with a great feel and a lovely sound! That was then though, and today the R580 puts them in the shade. Mine is a 9.5 deg having used 8 deg BB's in the past. I don't see any need to change the stock shaft (MAS StIFF). It works like a dream. Just tee it up a little higher. Added at least 10-15 yards but the most impressive thing was the accuracy! May have something to do with this having a little more loft that I'm used to? You gotta get one! John (London England)
