Titleist 975J Drivers

Titleist 975J Drivers

DESCRIPTION

A new 300cc Prototype Driver... the 975J has been seen in many Tour bags early in '01. Very similar look to its wildly popular predecessor the 975D. Just slightly larger and with a different look to the face... scoreing lines are placed in an "insert" look a'la the Callaway GBB. ~CB

This club looks good at address. The large head gives me confidence to drive the ball long. It feels really solid at imapct and gives me 15 yards extra distance.

Customer Service

I had to call MacLeod Scotland and order a new headcover as the one I was supplied with had discolouration around the top seem. MacLeod Scotland replaced the headcover no problem.

This is a great driver with amazing distance. I hit it the same as my tm 320 which is great. This driver feels a little more solid than the 320.

This driver is amazing. It helped me win the Alfred Dunhill Championship. I used to use a Titleist 975D, but the 975J's bigger head and thinner face give me more forgiveness, distance, and accuracy. I love this club.

Model Reviewed: 8.5* Ei70

I hit one off the toe and it went straight 300+ yards. I normally shoot high 80's. The first time out with this club I became a scratch golfer. Thanks Titleist!!! WOOPS I'm beginning to sound like Kim (bellow) only in reverse.

Seriously, this is a very good driver.
Classic looks at address, Great distance (aprox. 10 yards carry longer than my 975D w/GD YS9.1 stiff), less side spin means not quite as workable. Sounds a little less solid but feels just as solid as the 'D. I got the Ei70 because the lighter shafts did not allow me to consistantly hit the sweet spot. If you play a 'D drop down 1* to maintain the same trajectory. (I had to go from a 9.5 to 8.5 and the 8.5 'J is still slightly higher than the 9.5 'D) Would recomend to players that have sound swings. It would be a sad thing to spend this much cash and hit a pop up. Beginners, your money would be better spent on lessons. (don't you just love to see pop up marks on high buck clubs in the used rack? Could that be why the are called IDIOT marks?)
The value rating is down due to overpricing caused by pro contracts!!! This applies to most major OEM's.

Never used the D, but just finished my first round with J and hit over 80% of fairways and a smooth swing produced 280+ yard drives(about 10 yards longer than normal)...even had a 320 yarder. Large, but not outrageous. Sounds great, Looks great. Get one NOW!!

Model Reviewed: 975J, 7.5 deg, ProForce stiff

Played with a demo for one round. Average about 15 yards more than my 975D, 8.5 deg, rifle 6.5 shaft. The club pro recommended I try one with the Proforce shaft and one less degree of loft. I usually play bogey golf, but with a club or 2 less on my approach shots I was able to shot 83 which is a good score for me. I will definitely be looking for one on ebay or golfclubexchange.

Ok, I have yet to buy this, but I have demoed it, and all i can say is this club is the most boringest (if its even a word) club i have ever used...And thats the best part! This club is so reliable and has great ball flight, the distance is only an added bonus to the consistency. After a couple of balls, I was striping them consistently down the middle. Even though bad hits dont feel too great, they are unbelievable. I hit one off the toe and I came up 50 yards from the green in the fairway on a 380 yard par 4. This club is soooo delicious and i recommend that everyone buy one right now, cuz I am.

Very impressive, very solid. The club is and does everything that I expected. The stock Titleist shaft is a fine choice, and the square face is a welcome change from the typical closed face game-improvement designs. My drives are straighter than ever, and my distances have been consistent and long. Although expensive, this is a keeper.

I have a review in for the TM 360, I loved that club until this weekend, Friday,Sat and Sunday I used the 975 J. I want to say that once I learned how to us this club I love it...The club does tend to hit higher than the 975 D but the 8.5 with the EI 70 freakin kills anything on the market. I wish I would have used this club more before posting the review on the TM 360. Please disregard that review. If you want a solid long club buy this thing. Sweet......

The 975J is not for everyone. Make sure you demo all the shaft options before buying one. I did not like the feel of the club at impact. It is a great looking driver but is not very forgiving.
