Titleist 983E Titanium Drivers

Titleist 983E Titanium Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The slightly shallower front-to-back profile produces a flatter initial launch angle. The neutral internal weighting and slightly lower and forward CG location promote a boring trajectory and low spin. The result is a low spin driver for the stronger or high-spin player seeking optimal distance with trajectory control.

Bought mine off the used rack $45.00 stiff shaft. I am 63 years old and thought I'd reshaft it until I hit it. Best driver I have ever owned and I've owned all of them. Later I bought another on ebay for a back up same thing. I can turn it either right or left and distance is great. This driver carries into the wind better than any stick I have ever owned. Knocked five strokes off of my game. Exceptional product. - TBA

Just hit an entire store full of new drivers. Picked up this 983e driver off of a used rack for the heck of it. LONGest, most accurate driver of the bunch. I hit an 8.5 degree with a old 65 gram speeder shaft. I hit a bunch of drivers..Clevelsnd classic 279, 290'and 310,.all New TM drivers, r11s, RBZ, burners..., Callaway razor, ping Rapture V2, G15 and G20, Adams bla bla bla.....I hit the 983e better than all of them. Without a doubt best driver I have every used and I have tried them all. Very traditional setup and look. One guy asked me how I could hit my fairway wood so far not realizing what it was. Stiff shaft but still very long. Controllable. Probably not for a bogey golfer, but if you are seeking a better golf game this is for you if you have enough swing speed. I am 62 yrs old.

I have been playing golf for 30 years now. I am 43 years old. I am 5'8" and have won several local long drive contests. As everyone who plays golf knows its not about size on the tee box. I play titleist clubs and recently bought a new 910 D2 driver to "keep up with the Jones'" I previously played an 983J driver and was very long with it. I consistenly outdrove my playing partners by 20 yds. Since purchasing my new 910 driver, I was inconsistent and was now being outdriven by my playing partners. My scores have suffered and I was previously scoring consistently in the 70's. I humbled myself and purchased a Titleist 983E 7.5 degree driver and put in my bag this weekend. Yeah, at first I thought my friends would laugh at me because of the old driver. Their laughs soon stopped as I repeatedly hit this "old" driver straight down the middle and longer again. I didn't measure the yds. but on the par 5 at my local golf course their is a big oak tree 200 yds to the green which I haven't reached since purchasing my 910 driver. I effortlessly hit it 10 yds past the tree. All I can say is "dont belive the hype". I've seen a lot of changes in the game of golf, most just to get our money. Play what makes you happy, not what makes your friends happy. I love this "old" driver. The 983E is easy to hit, smaller at setup which to me seems easier to swing. It consistenly outdrove my playing partners and what straight as a whistle. I regained my confidence on the tee and my scores reflect it as I shot a 74. Oh, by the way, It had been raining the night before and that drive to the tree was all flight in the air with no role. I love the sound and feel of the club. I can actually feel the ball compress on the face. I am now proud to display this driver in my bag. Oh and I purchased it on E-bay for much less than $100. Check the prices on the "new" drivers with all their technology, which in my mind do not out perform this "old" driver.

Wow! I can honestly say I've never hit a driver that combined accuracy and distance so well. I got this driver with a set of clubs I bought on eBay, and actually had no intentions of even trying it - how good could a 7 year old driver be compared to the new technological wonders of 2010?

Well, for starters, the clubhead is beautiful and simple, like a swollen 976R, and the sound is a satisfying "crack". Mine is a 10.5*, and I thought that I would balloon it for sure, but it has a flatter trajectory (intended) and the ball flight is just perfect. It takes off like a 3 iron but just keeps going and going.

Accuracy? Well, the first 10-15 balls that I hit with it went within 4-5 yards of my target line (little pulls and little pushes) and though it IS possible to hit draws and fades with it, it almost seems like it WANTS to hit a purely straight ball. This is not a bad thing. So when I put a little more "oomph" behind it, I got the extra distance but the accuracy stayed the same.

Distance? Well, I'm fairly long off the tee, but I'm not going to lie and say I bomb it 300+ all the time. With my VFT or MP-001 (I know - I'm cheap and have old clubs), a good, normal swing would get me 270, and a great, hard swing would get me 285. With the 983E, I get 280 with a normal swing and as much as 295 when I go after it. So it only sounds like an extra 10 yards, but it is 10 extra yards with BETTER accuracy.

The shaft is a Fujikura Vista Tour 70 X-flex, at 44.5". Last but not least, you can feel the clubhead at the end of the shaft throughout the entire swing!

I would highly recommend this club to any better player with fast hands, and one that stands up on their left side at impact. But I wouldn't recommend it for anyone that comes over the top even slightly.

Also? You can now get this club for about $25.00 on eBay!

The 983E is the best driver made by Titleist to date. Just bought D3 with Proforce Red Stiff (tried several shafts) beacuse I felt I "had" to get updated driver. I was worong! The D3 is nice traditionally shaped driver, but does not even close to my 983E in performance (have two with different shafts). Titleist did it right with teh "E" and should be placed in hall of fame of drivers.

Customer Service

Titleist A+ on service...repaired collector SC putter in short time...as new...always first rate in responsiveness.

I've played Taylor Made and Callaway and this club, even though it is not the newest Titleist out, is still the most comfortable to hit and the longest I've hit so far. I like the more traditional pear shaped head. My Dad gave it to me about 1.5 yrs ago. When swinging well, it's 320 yds+ everytime.

Love this club , take it out on the driving range, and booms straight when you set up real good , hat that pingy frying pan sound coming off some of these drivers out there, when i hit this thing bullzeye , theres no sweeter sound off a driver then hitting a 983e , got mine for 50 bucks , and great investment , i know i need to get better , when i do i can really appreciate this club , played with some guys and they were like , dude you need to go to a long distance driving tournament, not the longest club out there , but when you hit it right , deffiantely one of the most rewarding sound you can get . Titleist will keep selling drivers if there like and sound like the 983e .
