Titleist 983E Titanium Drivers

Titleist 983E Titanium Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The slightly shallower front-to-back profile produces a flatter initial launch angle. The neutral internal weighting and slightly lower and forward CG location promote a boring trajectory and low spin. The result is a low spin driver for the stronger or high-spin player seeking optimal distance with trajectory control.

Great Club. Had been using a Nike 350, but could never get used to the club setting up closed at address. I've never had a problem hitting a hook, so the closed face didn't help much. Bought the 983e from Callaway Preowned for $45. This driver has the best trajectory of any club I've ever hit. I can hit it a mile. I'm consistently longer than my dad and his buddy. The 983 also feels much better than any other driver I've used.

Anyone who knows anything about classical music recognizes Pachabel's Canon in D as a masterpiece that has endured the test of time. A few months ago I came to know "Cannon in E" , the Titleist 983E. It has a Fujikura 757 Speeder shaft. It is a beast, a cannon, a masterpiece.
Go ahead and buy one of the new 460cc head drivers with the high MOIs and whatnot if you want. I wanted to get a Callaway FT-i, but didn't want to pay the several hundred dollars they sell for. So I got this club for about $40 off ebay.
It is a super bargain for a killer club.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983E 8.5 x stiff speeder

Have tried many drivers over the years, ex., TM, Titleist, Cleveland, Cobra, etc., in all sizes, but have not found one that performs as well as the 983E, including current 460cc models. Keep coming back to it. Sets up well to the eye, deep face, boring trajectory. When struck well, just as much distance as any driver on the market today. Great feel when struck well (like hitting a baseball on the sweet spot of a wooden bat), can work the ball with it. Can't get used to the size of the 460cc drivers. Player's club.

Customer Service

Never had a problem with the 983E, but in the past have found Titleist to be very responsive to a problem with a club.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983E 8.5 Speeder 757 X

First of all I have hit just about every driver on the market and this out performs them all in terms of feel and distance. I was lucky enough to get 2 of these drivers with Speeder 757's X Flex on Ebay for 39.99 a piece. My previous driver was the Titleist 975D which I was reluctant to make the switch from. I really never like any of the 400-460cc heads I have tried out. They seem too hard to square up at impact and my direction control was terrible with them.
This driver reminds me of a deep face 975D. Only difference is that it is a absolute canon, I would say it feels even more solid than the 975D.
I normally play steel in my 975D. My swing speed is around 113-118. The Speeder 757 is a absolute beast. Has just about the same workabilty of steel but it weighs about 45 grams less. Wiih a perfect penetrating trajectory (absloultely no ballooning) Im knocking them out there between 280-290 and I get tons of roll with this shaft.
I dont mis-hit much, last time I played 27 holes I had two miss hits out of all the holes. One was out on the toe, the other on the heel, and the both ended up in the fairways about 15 yards shorter than my other drives.
If you want a driver that has the COR speed of todays huge headed drivers without all the bulk and face to look down on. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DRIVER. I will be playing it for a long time to come just like my 975D. Just make sure you get fitting properly with the correct shaft and grip. Makes a huge difference

I read all the reviews here about this driver and I have to agree...the 983E is an outstanding driver. I bought mine on Ebay for $32. It was a demo and in great condition. It took me a few times out on the range to get used to it. I think it is definitely more suited to a low handicapper. The face is on the smaller side, since it is only a 350cc driver. Not the most forgiving driver, but when you hit the sweet spot, I don't think there is any driver that feels better. The trajectory is much better suited to my swing than the TM 540XD that I was using. The only driver I like slightly better is the TM 580. It is a larger head and the face is even deeper than the 983E.

I had been using a R5 N for a couple of years but had always been fighting the occassionally ballooned shot and big sideways movement. I found the R5 was a very forgiving club but not accurate with the amount of spin I put on the ball, particularly when I went afetr it. I was looking for a low spin/low launch driver, and found a 983E 9.5 with a factory grafalloy prolite stiff for a good price at my pro shop. Took it out for a test drive and immediately bought it. This combo is perfect for me. I tend to load up the shaft and with this combo I can still jump on it without ballooning it or losing it right. I hit it longer than the Taylor and with a much better trajectory and greater accuracy. I also think this is the best feeling club I've ever hit. The R5 felt good but the 983E is sublime on centre hits. For stronger players who want to get the ball down a little and improve their accuracy I think this driver with the right shaft in it is better than anything currently on the market.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983E

I'm not sure why I'm writing this review since few golfers are currently playing this club, but here goes.

The 983E is the best driver Titleist has ever produced. I've sampled the current crop of so called hot drivers and not one can touch this club. It is clearly designed for the good player, but if you consistently hit the ball solidly and can find the proper loft and shaft, this club will outperform anything out their today.

I now own two E's. The most recent purchase was for the laughably low price of $45.00 on Ebay and the club was in nearly perfect condition.

I have not found a club that can produce the same high yet penetrating ball flight.

I use a 9.5 degree with a speeder stiff shaft. Because of the deep face, the club has the look of a club with much more loft. I can't imagine a club that could look more forgiving.

The new clubs are somewhat more forgiving, but if you're a good player opt for the E. We all know Titleist makes the best feeling and sounding driver on the market so why not also get explosive distance at a low price.

Let me start out by saying that I am currently playing the sister club to this one, the 983K (see accompanying review). Reason being I prefer a medium ball flight, with a higher initial launch and a flatter downrange flight. This is not the club for that ball flight. The head's characteristics just do not promote that type of initial launch.
That said, I'm not going to automatically give this club a 1. Each golfer's swing, impact conditions, and ball flight preferences are different, and what works for one may not work for the other.
If you are looking for a flatter, low spin driver, I can't think of a better one. If you are looking for something that launches the ball into the air, this just isn't the club for you. Perhaps try the 983K.

BTW- this model is available on eBay for next to nothing.
