Cleveland Launcher Titanium Fairway Woods

Cleveland Launcher Titanium Fairway Woods

DESCRIPTION

Made from lightweight 6-4 titanium, these fairway woods have a lower and deeper center of gravity that helps to create a higher ball flight and more forgiveness on off-center hits.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Launcher Titanuim 3 & 5 Wood

Although these fairway woods have been discontinued by Cleveland to make way for the new stuff, I decided to purchase the 3 & 5 wood in '05 for a few reasons. I chose the Cleveland Launcher Titanium based on looks, size and feel, performance and value. Last year, I was in the market to replace my reliable 6 year old Taylormade Supersteel Burner 3 & 5 fairway wood. I vowed that these clubs were not coming out of the bag unless the replacements were pleasing to my eye and ear, approximately the same size in volume and felt similar or better when struck. The Cleveland Launcher Titanium met all of my criteria as outlined. With respect to performance, I found a club that was forgiving and provided distance without sacraficing accuracy. When demoed I noticed that the woods were forgiving and accurate as my Supersteel Burners and provided a little more distance. My ball trajectory and shot pattern during my demo session was generally a mid to high straight ball flight with a little cut at times (I don't normally draw too much). The Launcher Titanium was priced well over $200.00 a few years ago. Would I have bought them then...no way. Although this is a great club in my opinion, I felt that like most OEM clubs at its peak, they were overpriced. Now being that they have been discontinued and reduced in price, they are certainly worth buying. As such, I purchased my 3 & 5 wood for $150 (shipping incl.) With the savings, I picked up a couple of Grafalloy Blues to replace the stock shaft (Althought the stock shaft was OK...I like a prefer the Blue).

This club sucks for me, i hate it. Off a Tee it is ok low ball flight, in the fairway i can barely get the ball airborn a low line drive always short. I have a terible hook with this club and at least it always draws. beginners stay away from this club.

Absolutely the best fairway woods out there. I have tried just about every other club and these are it for me. I have both the 3 wood and 7 wood in the OEM Fujikura gold shaft in a stiff flex. I have always struggled hitting the ball off the deck high in the air but these clubs allow me to do just that. They go long and relatively straight. Maybe a slight draw at worst. Also, love the full sock headcover. What moron thought that the headcover with no sock on a graphite shaft would be a good thing? Bravo to you Cleveland you have a winner. I have heard good things about the new Comp woods as well but I'm sticking with this winner. Even better now that they are discontinued. It's a buyers market.

Shaft is a little longer the most three woods at 44 inches, but overall a very good club. Ball flies very hot off of the club face. Very forgiving. When struck in the center I've never had a problem getting the ball in the air. Flies a little lower on mis-hits but still comes off with tons of roll. Very good club, and picked it up at a very good price now that they are on sale. Will be in the bag for a long time to come.

Wow, this club is hot. Off the tee my shots now have a very consistent low/mid ball flight! My old 3 wood would tend curve all the time, but now with the new club, it is down the middle always. Off of grass, I find it a bit harder to get it up in the air. My old fairway wood was shorter so I need time ot adjust (i just bought htis today.) On a few shots I did hit up to my expectations, the ball flew almost as far as it did off the tee, I couldn't believe it. It even had the same trajectory, aim was dead one as well. The sound it makes is the "pting" sound, a very crisp metal sensation fills the air! It's fun to hit, and provides a consistency that will prove to be an asset on the course.

What a truly great golf club this is. it has a boring low - mid ball flight. this club is only 10 - 20 yrds shorter than my launcher 460, and sometimes just as long!! it is more consistent and easier to work than my driver...and i hit my driver well. i put this in my bag because my old 3 wood was difficult for me off the fairway. This is a great fairway club. if tee'd slightly in light ruff, wow, you will absolutely smoke it! Even the occasional mis hit from the fairway is straight. I just get 150 - 180 and call it an accidental layup. I can't imagine someone trying this club and being disappointed. You will hit this club as long as or longer than MANY drivers on the market, and way more consistently. I routinely outdrive playing partners with this 3 wood.

This is a great club! Purchased the 15 degree with a stiff gold shaft and can hit this club of the box almost the same distance as my drives (260-270 yards. This club is easy to hit off the ground or off the tee; does not ballon up in the air and travels more on a low boring trajectory with a powerful draw. Ifyou struggle with your 3 wood and lack distance, then try this club...you will not be disapointed.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Titanium 3-wood

One of the biggest weaknesses to my game was approach shots from more than 200 yards out. I'm a long hitter and I was tired of settling for 5-iron (so it would go straight) then pitch from 250 yards out. I could not hit my old 3-wood, at all. I just bought an entire set of Cleveland clubs, and while I'm still on the fence about the Launcher Irons and Driver (my swing, not their product), the Titanium 3-wood and steel 5-wood are unbelievable. I avoided hitting my fairway woods before, now I wish I wasn't long off the tee so I could hit them more. If I could hit 60 percent of fairways I'd be in the high 80s. In four rounds of golf, four of the best shots I hit were with my 3 and 5-woods. My swing isn't better, but the clubs are. I almost drove the green with the 3-wood on a 308-yard, tight par 4 that was slightly down hill. Buy these woods, put them in you bag and swing smooth and you may start hitting them off the tee more than your driver. Also, I got the 5-wood free when I bought the driver and 3-wood. Just a quick add-on, the Cleveland Halo hybrid is outstanding. It replaced my 3 Iron and from about 215 yards out, I'm money. It will not slice. I slice everything else, but I haven't sliced this yet.

Customer Service

I was fitted at a Cleveland Van Day at Golf Galaxy. While a little pushy, they are salesmen after all, they definitely weren't afraid to let me hit other clubs against theirs. Also, they built a Comp driver instead of the 460 I ordered and said I could have the better product for the 460 price.

This is a great club. So easy to use on fairway, so straight and long (if you keep a light grip and a wide swing arc). The head looks so small, but it packs a punch!

Model Reviewed: Titanium 3 Wood-15 degrees loft

Old schoool looks (clubhead) attracted me to this club initially. I bought the 15 degree 3 wood with Aldila NV 65 stiff shaft. I just smoke this club, especially from the tee. I soon reliazed I needed more loft on my driver since I was hitting the ball further with this club than my old driver! I have since bought the Launcher 400, 10.5 degree stiff Aldila NV 65 stiff-another very good club. The Aldila shaft allows me to swing more aggressively. I tried the stock Fujikura shaft in both clubs. I felt like I had to "steer" the club. One last comment: it's true-err on the side of more loft with these new drivers!
