La Jolla Knife Fairway Woods

La Jolla Knife Fairway Woods

DESCRIPTION

  • The two outside blades act as outriggers, which resist twisting in the rough, and are more forgiving of off-center shots
  • The center blade performs as a rudder to keep the club moving straight on all shots, on all types of surfaces
  • The three blades also keep the sole of the club from touching the ground, which can add a significant amount of distance to each shot

Absolutely great clubs. Its a shame they are no longer around. I bought the 7 wood of a forum. I had read good reviews and figure anything can help my game. I went out and since my tee shots suck i was way right of the fairway. 210 out i pulled the 7 wood and swung away to a blind downhill green. The ball landed 15 feet from pin. i hit the club so well i bought the matching 3 and 5 wood and the hybrids as well. All are amazing. I have only plaid for 1 season and with the hybrids i can work the ball. :)

Hey, I found some fantastic looking knives with great prices and free shipping. The website is www.liangdianup.com and these LDU Company people have bayonet knives, folders, switchblades, out the front knives, butterfly knives, and a bunch more. The web address for all of the knives is http://www.liangdianup.com/knives_1.htm
I like the all black Extrema Ratio bayonet knife the best but I also like the throwing stars.

My buddy let me have his Knife 9W after he "upgraded" to Cleveland hybrids. I liked the club so much that I bought the 3W and 5W off Ebay. I'm a beginner, so there's a lot of variation from one shot to the next. But, when I keep my head down and make a controlled, smooth swing, VERY good things happen.

I've always had trouble with a long second shot. My swing isn't fast enough for a 3 or 4 iron and it's hard to hit a normal fairway wood out of the rough. I picked up this 7 wood for $20 on ebay and it was well worth it. Knowing how well it works I would have paid much more. This club is my staple 2nd shot. It hits great from any lie. I just picked up a 4 wood to help with par 5s.. hopefully it works out as well. I would suggest it to anyone.

Bought a 9 after seeing an advert and wow! , first time I tried one it was out of medium rough. It popped the ball out and flew straight at the green some 180 yds and hit the front and rolled on towards the flag. Its been in my bag now for two years and I wouldn't be without it. I recommended it to a friend who couldn't hit a fairway wood to save his life, he went through several brands of rescue clubs. Now he's consistently knocking these to 200yds, no problem. So impressed he went and bought the 3,5,and 11. He is so concerned about breaking the 9 he wants to buy another just in case they stop making them. One thing I would say is hit down on the ball from the middle of your stance. Another thing is they don't seem to work as well when the ground is very soft.

Model Reviewed: Mid knife 4, 21 degree

What a great club. I have been playing the knife 9 wood (26 degree) and have had some great days with it. If I don't shift my weight properly and use my legs I tend to hook it badly with the 9 wood, but usually if my swing is okay the 9 wood performs well.

Anyway, I just recently tried the mid-knife 4 hybrid, even though I have been relatively unconvinced with the hybrids I have tried (Heavenwood, Orlimar were not great for me, Ping hybrids not too bad....all saw limited use). Well guess what, the mid-knife 4 (21*) is better than all of them. Solid feel on all but the worst swings, a nice tendency to go high and straight with maybe a small draw, and equally good from the rough and the tee. What more could you want from a club you can get on ebay for less than 25 bucks???

I actually like the mid-knife better than my 9 wood because it seems somewhat less closed (clubface), and like I said earlier, if I don't shift properly I will hit hooks....so far that hasn't happened with the mid-knife 4. I'm sure once the "honeymoon" period is over I will hit a bad shot or three, but as for now I am sold on great value and performance!!

The best 5-wood I ever hit.

Wow this 5-wood is so long and dead straight, even from the rough.

If you want to reach par5s in two, this is your club.

I highly recommend the La Jolla Knife 5wood.

Just picked these up from rockbottomgolf for $30 each! Tried them out for the first time at the range last nite. Small head and fins on sole intimidated me. Topped the first four shots, them started hitting down and balls flew high and landed soft. Same distance as my old woods, but the difference is that these drop like parachutes instread of rolling to the distance.

Customer Service

Excellent.

I got this club b/c i liked the weight and size of the head when i took a couple of swings in glofdom and it was dirt cheap on ebay (like $40 w/ shipping). It's not a bad club but tuff to make clean contact with. I can hit it very well off the tee and out the rough but tend to just get on top of the ball when hitting the ball in the fairway and off the mats @ the range. I never had this problem with my old three wood which makes me think the rueters on the sole of the knife tend to keep the club higher than it should be. If you spend a lot of time in the rough and tee up your 3 wood often, this might be the club for you. Personally i'm in the market for something new, Sonartec maybe..

Model Reviewed: La Jolla Knife Hybrid 4 Stiff

Like many others here I thought the knife was a sales gimmick. As they are quite cheap on eBay and having read some good reviews, I decided to try one out.

Mine is the Knife Hybrid 4, smaller than the Knife Fairway Woods, but the knife pattern on the sole is the same. The Hybrids are intended to replace the equivalent irons. It is almost an inch longer than my 3 Iron. The head is small and feels a little heavy but overall the club feels well balanced at address.

After a few hits to get the correct alignment I was hooked. This is fast becoming a best friend and it’s in the bag to stay. I have a great sense of confidence with it and the small head size and heft is right. I’m sure I don’t hit the exact sweet spot very often and my swing is not always too good but this club still hits the ball dead straight, launches it high and always seems to go the same distance. Many times I’ve been surprised at the good result from a swing and contact that were a bit off.

If you like to work the ball then it’s probably not for you. Straight is fine with me…makes my golf game much more enjoyable. If the ball goes where you are aiming you don’t find so much trouble and the mid handicapper is more likely to hit the green. I’ve not had any fat shots yet, maybe due to this knife blade design. The ball launches very well from most lies, within reason. I’m sure it swishes through the fluffy grass without losing as much speed as other clubs, and the club head doesn’t twist.

I’m hitting about 180 to 190 yds, higher flight than my 3 Iron and with a soft landing, and also straight. What more could you want on those long Par 3s and those second shots on the long par 4s?
