Great little weapon.

I already own an Adams 3 hybrid but had a hard time hitting the club consistently. Out of the blue I spotted a ping G5 hybrid and went into the simulator. To my surprise all shots went where i was aiming and since then I have used it with much success on the golf course. This club really assists the ball distance wise and on target which is all you can ever ask of a club like this. Distance and accuracy.
I am keeping it and look forward to using it as my 200 to 215 yard club.

As an avid Ping fan I was convinced that this club would be great for me. Unfortunately I have been quite disappointed. The feedback is poor and it has a recognised flaw in that it tends to lie open at address which can easily lead to a strong fade. (I believe these issues have been addressed with the G10). Hit it square and the results are great but definitely not as forgiving as a lot of others.

Great with all my other clubs etc.

These Hybrids really are just a great club. I agree totally with most of the reviews in that you can work the ball right and left, hit it high or low, just a wonderfully designed club. I personally LOVE the Grafalloy prolaunch shaft. Others prefer the TFC, but he prolaunch is great for me. I find the sweet spot right where it should be, ON THE SWEET SPOT, so I dunno what some reviewers are talking about. As an example, once I was about 200 yds out, with a big tree blocking my line to the green on the left of the fairway. I set up for a hooking shot, and just swung the club, the ball hooked perfectly around the tree and landed on the green. My golfin buddy said "wow, just like on TV", later on in the same round I was in the right rough with some tree branches blocking a high shot, I need to hit a low slice that would run to the green or in the trap behind it to have a chance of getting a par. I set up for a low slice, and just swung, the ball came out low, sliced perfectly ran past the pin and trickled into the trap behind. So i LOVE these hybrids...check them out!

I've had the G5 3 and 5 woods in my bag for 2 season and loved em..Just recently added the 7 wood and never thought i'd ever do that. but I hit it high and soft 200 yards out of rough, something i'd never do with my 3 iron. They're fine fairway woods and very forgiving. If you are a Ping man you'll enjoy them no doubt.

This is my new favorite club. As a 3 iron replacement it is great. Off the fairway, rough, or tee, I have consistant distance and I can control the club wonderfully. The ball flight is high and soft, typical for myself and my game. Highly recommended.

WOW!! What a sweet little club this is! I might have to pick up a 19 degree also. Before buying this 3-iron replacement, I read all the reviews here and on other sites. I just can't understand what those other two reviewers are complaining about. Off-center sweet spots? That's crazy! This club is wonderfull to hit. Big sweet spot, right in the middle, and long! Easy to swing, and just the right length. Well done PING! I tried both the TFC shaft and the Graffoly shaft. I like the Ping shaft better for some reason. I usually love Graffoly shafts, but it didn't feel right to me in this club.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 Hybrid 19 & 22 TFC100 shaft

When I demo'd these two hybrids I tried the same G5 head with different shafts. The only shaft that felt good to me was the Ping TFC. Personally I would stay away from the Graffoly or Aldila shafts in these clubs unless you know you want them. I use the 19 degree for my 5 wood, and the 22 for my 3 iron. I tried just about every hybrid out there, including many clones. The Ping G5 hybrid is simply the easiest and most consistant hitting club I've ever hit. The launch angle is high, but I don't loose any distance and the shot holds the green. The balance and swing weight is perfect. The only down side is that they are a little expensive, but not bad compaired to Titlest or Callaway. I haven't tried the G5/I5 irons yet, I play Macgreggor forged irons, but every time I hit one of those hybrids I am tempted to switch! Go out the demo these hybrids with the Ping shaft, you'll love them!! PLUS they're made in the good ole USA!!!

I had the Taylormade Rescue hybrid but the club would always draw or hook the ball, it seemed to have a very heavy clubhead that couldnt be worked very well. I then bought the new Titleist Hybrid which I hit very inconsistently, and almost never in the direction I wanted. I tried the Adams hybrid but that too seemed hard to hit. Then I hit the G5 with the ZZ65 steel shaft, what a difference. I can hit it any way I want to, straight, draw, fade high or low EASILY ! I love it. Its my go to club when everything else is not working well. Try it- you'll like it !

I have never been a fan of fairway woods because I couldn't find anything that I can hit better than my long irons. Distance has never been a problem so I haven't worried about not having one. I ended up having an old set of irons I traded in straight up for this club and man is it awesome. It is very consistent and easy to hit. The deeper face makes it a breeze to hit off the tee and there is no problem taking it off the deck. The sound of this club is excellent as well, not fake, just solid. Considering I've never been able to hit fairway woods that well, this club must be different than the rest..in a good way.

I really wanted to like this club. I'm a Ping guy and I thought this was a done deal. First, I didn't like that the sweet spot was so close to the shaft. Why would a club be designed with an off-center sweet spot? Second, I just didn't think it felt as good as the Callaway FT or the Ping Rapture hybrids. I liked the Rapture better than the G5, but I liked the FT the best. I didn't buy either yet. A guy at the shop suggested that I try the Cleveland Halo. I'll give the G5 another chance when I go back and hit the Halo and the Callaway X, but right now I just don't think it's the best hybrid out there
