Model Reviewed: G5 Hybrid 22,25 W/Aldila 85R

Purchased the 22 and 25 as a package with the Aldila NV 85 HybridRegular shafts. I play ping g2 irons. These hybrids were shorter than my irons. Flight was very high. Perhaps with different shafts performance would be better. Don't buy these clubs without getting fitted at an outside testing facility.

Model Reviewed: G5 hybrids

I purchased an entire G5 set just a couple of weeks ago. I had a thorough fitting by a PGA pro and had my mind made up to replace the 3 & 4 irons with 19 and 22 degree hybrids. My irons are CS lite regular, woods TFC100 regular, hybrids Grafalloy regular. The feel of the hybrids don't seem to blend with the rest of my clubs and now I'll probably order a 3 & 4 iron. I can hit the hybrids farther than comparable irons but I believe the swingweight is so unlike the rest of the set I have to consiously adjust my tempo just for a "hybrid" swing.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 Fairway 3 Wood - ProLaunch 75S

Bought this club after I got skunked by some friends in a round. I've never been good at hitting woods but I realized it's more important to get of the tee in good shape than trying to bang away with the driver. I only carried a driver and a 2 hybrid in my bag. Bought this club new from 2Golf, took it to the range and was able to dial it it after about half a bucket of balls. Ball flight is a little low (as compared to my driver) but straight as an arrow. I hit the 3 wood about 220-240 yards off the tee, which keeps me in the game. Overall, I'm very impressed with the G5 Fairway Wood. It fits my swing perfectly. Anything near the sweet spot is comes off hot, long and straight. Mis-hits off the toe aren't bad, just not as far. Hits on the sweetspot also yields a nice, pleasing "ping" (pun intended) and mis-hits a duller sound. Haven't been able to work the ball yet but haven't tried either much. I'm just happy with the straight flight. I tried the Cobra Speed F and M, Sonartec, MacGregor NVG and Adams Redline at the range or simulator but I couldn't control them as well. The closest I came to the Ping was the Cleveland Launcher Steel, which had a similar flight. The tie breaker was the Ping's performance at the range. I've played two rounds with the club and I love it. I was so impressed with the club, I traded in my Cobra 2 Hybrid for a Ping G5 5 wood. At $220 new, it's a little pricey, but being able to hold my head up to my friends is priceless. The used club cost $149.

As an aside, I've been reading GolfReview.com for months now, doing a lot of research on irons, drivers and woods. Seeing all the 5 star reviews left me skeptical about the usefulness of the reviews but I have to admit, when you find a good club, you want to tell the world. I highly recommend Ping G5 woods but make sure any club fits your swing before you put down your cash.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 fairway wood-regular shaft

I jumped on the ban wagon and picked up a Cleveland Halo 3 Hybrid. I had a tough time for some reason getting off the tee box or even finding a place for it on the course as well. I generally, hit my drives about 270-280 yards, and my biggest problem is hitting the Fairways consistantly. I traded the Hybrid in after only 2 weeks and picked up the Ping G5 3 wood 15 degree. I tell you what, I played it on all driving holes and hit every fairway, including one off the deck on a 530 yard par 5 and ended up 30 yards from the green. the club is smooth and very forgiving. Mis-hits aren't bad at all and was getting this club about the same length as my driver, with more control. the difference is huge, and feel more confident behind the ball. Tee it up low and let the club do the work. Day one has been great and played it during for a late 9 round of golf, and shot 39. Bottom line its straight, swing easy, and let the club do the work

The first time i took this onto the course i hit 3 greens in reg with it and a 250 drive using 5 times. My best drive with this off the tee is 260, and im only 15. If you hit it in the center it's the best 3-wood out there

Model Reviewed: 19* steel shaft

When I bought my irons, I ordered a 4-SW, as I've never been able to hit a 3 well. After using a friend's hybrid to get out from under a tree, I decided it was time to get one. I had mine shafted with steel to emulate the swing and feel of the rest of my irons, and I'm glad I did. The ball goes straight and stays low.

Customer Service

Ping is a great company to deal with. My clubs are fitted, so I picked out the club, gave the store my customer number, three days later I had the club in my hands with my personal specs.

Model Reviewed: Ping G% Hybrid

Played many clubs in the hybrid category. These really are by far the best IMO. Great feeling & looking clubs. Very high & straight when hit flush. On slight mis-hits you have a lower cutter that gives you instant feedback but you're still in play, very forgiving. The Pro Launch HY shaft is awesome (it seems shorter than some other hybrids which I like). I love these clubs, loved the 19* so much I bought the 22* & garaged the 4 iron. Demo these clubs, they are great. A little expensive but you get what you pay for. Well done Ping, in top 3 of hybrids out right now.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 Hybrid 16 deg NV 85S

This is the best club I have ever played.

It is straight and long with a good low to medium ball flight. Short par 4's are a doodle. Tee it low, drill it down the middle. It is also superb from the rough and from poor lies.

I never liked the look or feel of the Aldila NV shaft, but in this club it really works and keeps my ball flight low.

Basedd solely on this club I am so impressed with Ping and the NV shaft that I have ordered a G5 driver, 9 deg with a NV 75S shaft.

I have hit a 6 iron demo from the i5 range and am very impressed with these irons.

Ping are the most under rated manufacturer in golf. Forget the Taylormade hype.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 19 degree, Grafalloy, stiff

I love the look and feel of this club! I used to be a traditionalist - I never thought I'd put a hybrid in my bag. I can't believe I waited so long! My 3-iron was essentially useless, except off the tee, but I resisted - until now. Finally, I have something I can hit from the tee, from the fairway, and from light rough. Granted, this club has a slight draw-bias, but nothing too severe. I draw my shorter irons a bit anyway, so the ball flight with this club is quite similar. I hit this club about the same distance (~215yds) as I hit my 3-iron (if I was lucky). It's just that, now, I can actually use the Ping G5 with confidence from over 210 yds. Before, if I had a long shot into a green, I was better off laying up with a 6-iron, and using a wedge in. Now, I can take the Ping G5 out and go for it! I went with the Grafalloy shaft for the higher launch it seemed to give me. I'll probably pick up the 22-degree version to replace my 4-iron, which is almost as useless as my 3-iron was. All-in-all a very good purchase. This is a club that will stay with me for a long time.

Sorry, but I can't join the chorus here. I like the feel and the trajectory, but the club consistently leaks away to ther right on me. I think it's the NV shaft (of which I am not fond). I plan on changing the shaft to the UST V2 hybrid in R flex.
