what a great , non stressful club. ping has done it again...whenever the ball connect with the club it's like magic in the making, straight and longggg.l couldn't ask for more. the 19* suppose to be to replace a 3 iron and it hits the spot, actually you can choke down on it and control the distance very easily. there is no flaw in this club but it makes you feel that you're cheating

Customer Service

none yet, but since PING is made in the USA

USA = good

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 13* Aldila NV75 Stiff

I had been using a Sonartec NP-99 and on a visit to the Atlanta PGA Superstore I happened to try the G5 out. Was I surprised! I am getting very similar distance to the Sonartec and this so much easier to hit! You can still work the ball, but you are not punished anywhere nearly as severe for a miss hit ball. Aldila NV75 is the same shaft that was in my Sonartec. Needless to say I dumped the Sonartec and bought the Ping. The face is a bit deeper on this club than many fairway woods, but I still found I could take it off the turf pretty easily. Very pleased with this club!

Customer Service

Ping has always excelled at customer service. I use their I5 irons, and have never had any problem getting answers to questions, etc.

Model Reviewed: G5 16* Hybrid

I have been looking for a hybrid to put in my bag for shots out of deep rough, long fairway bunker shots, tee shots on tight par 4's and such. I tried the TM Dual TP in 16* and 19* both with Diamana stiff shafts and hit the ball waaaaay too high. I hit my long irons further, so my search continued...until I hit the 16* G5 with the NV hybrid stiff shaft. Wow! This is how a hybrid is supposed to play. High, far and straight. It doesn't replace my 3 iron but instead fills the gap perfectly between my strong 3 and my 3 iron. Carry is in 230 to 245 range and consistently straight. This gives me many more options from the tee, rough and out of trouble. Now my set is complete!

Got these to compliment my G2 driver and they paly beautifully. Very nice at address and excellent distance with very good accuracy. First time out hit the pin on par 5 over two lots water!!! Been very consistant since. Find the prolaunch shaft excellent for that extra bit of lift which suits my game. Overall excellent value and a pleasing progress from the G2 fairway woods.

Reasonably long and forgiving but it wasn’t as consistent as others. It doesn’t seem to sit behind the ball correctly which could be because the paint line on the top of the face makes it look as thought its sitting open. Nice club but not for me.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 19* Hybrid

I purchased the 19* with the CS lite stiff shaft. It is the same shaft I have in my irons. It's 107 g's. I played with it the first day in 30 degree weather with low compression balls. I hit the club 8 times with excellent results. I hit it on average about 200 to 210. Not bad for a freezing cold day. I choked down on it about an inch for a 195 yard par-3. Left the ball pin high 8 feet to the right. I'm very pleased with the ball flight and the ease in which the ball gets up. I hope to hit this about 220 once the weather gets back in the 60's - 70's. I've already ordered the 22 and the 25 with the same shaft. I'm a 10.2 handicap and I believe this is the easiest (non iron) club I have ever hit. I have bought and used both the sonartec MD's and the Callaway Heavenwoods. I hated the MD's and could not hit them. The callaways were better than the MD's, but they were not even close compared to the consistency of the G5 hybrid. I had the stiff graphite I-Rod shafts in the MD's, and Tru-Temper S300 stiff steel in the Callaways. I noticrd that the cs lite shaft in my 19* Ping is about 1.5 inches shorter than the S300 shaft in my 3H 20* Callaway. Didn't matter though, the ball goes just as far with the ping as it did with the 3H ( hit them both on the range before I purchased the Ping). I also demoed the Cobra bafflers, and the Cleveland hybrids. I didn't hit them well. These Ping hybrids are the best of the bunch.

Model Reviewed: 16 and 19 degree, both with Aldila NV Still shaft

I bought these after hitting them. I had started with Taylormade Rescue Duals, however they put the ball WAY to high in the air for me. I then played Sonartecs, which have a lower ball flight, but they are not very forgiving of a bad contact. Finally gave these a whirl, and bought them. The Aldila shaft in stiff keeps the ball flight down, and they are still much more forgiving than the Sonartecs. Definitely worth the switch to me. I would recommend you hit before you buy, and not into a store net. Hybrids these days are like irons, they are all different in terms of playability.

Ping has always had excellent customer service.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 Fairway wood

Just swapped old faithful, an i3 steel fairway wood that has been in the bag for a long time. The old one was a 12 degree loft, stiff flex model, and rarely failed me. Picked the 15 degree model, as the G5 has a considerably different ball flight to the old one. Comes off the clubface at ideal launch angle, doesn't balloon at all. The bigger club head is slightly harder to hit off the deck but still works just fine. Main advantage is length off the tee, almost makes a driver obsolete. Par 5, 530 yards, used this 3 wood off the tee, and again off the fairway (from 240) to the front of the green. The sound and feel was a surprise. It is quite muted, almost a soft feel off the face which belies the jump the ball gets. I play forged blade irons, and this club has a similar feel off the face. Mis-hits are well managed. Toe hits draw back nicely, heel shots fade, but still get good distance.

Customer Service

Never had any problems.
