I saw this club as a demo at a local golf shop and bought it since it was priced so low. Am I ever glad I bought this club. I find it easy to hit off the deck or off a tee. It is forgiving and has an excellent trajectory. Depending on where I place the ball im my stance I can make it land soft or roll. And it hits a ton.

My previous 5W (Wilson Deep Red 2) only went 180 yards. With this club I am consistently in the 210 to 220 yard range with a couple of 230s in there (offf the deck). The Titanium face is pretty hot and this club has as much distance as my Tayloe Made 3W V-steel! I am considering replacinf my 3W with an R5 as well.

Model Reviewed: R5 Dual #3 wood

Recently purchased off of Ebay. I have played 4 rounds so far with this club. It's fitted with the NV reg shaft. I knew it would be great off the tee and I was right. The courses that I play are narrow & tree lined and I got this to keep it in the fairway. So far it hasn't let me down. Distance is great, I get a straight boring flight (shaft may also be responsible)Suprising to me, it is also easy to hit off of the deck. With this club,I just think smooth and easy and it takes off. No problem at all with getting it up. I shoot in the 80's on a consistent basis but it's been my short game that I excell in. I think this club will help me get my long game going. I play with some low handicappers and they were harping about the R5 being "to much of a game improvement" club. Until I let them hit it. They can turn it both ways and one of these "Titleist forever" guys is looking to get one.(not mine)I can't fade or hook on a at will basis yet but long and straight works for me.

After purchasing an R580XD driver, I decided to replace my Titleist 980F 13 degree fairway wood and match the set. I'm glad I did. Although I loved the 980F, the R5 is much easier to hit and has a much higher ball flight. I hit the 980 farther, but not by very much. Although a bit pricey, it's the best 3 wood I've ever played.

As a lefty it is not always easy to demo a club before making a purchase decision. At my local golf store there is a few to demo so I gave this regular graphite a one week, 3 rounds of golf trial. Off the tee this club really flies. My swing speed is around 88 mph and this club easily exceeds 200 yards for me on all occasions. It is very good on longer par threes as well as off of tight lies in the fairway or first cut. Also very straght with the fixed weights with a mid to higher ball flight.

Customer Service

Very helpful at demo day.

Best fairway wood I've ever hit, has an incredible feel to it and the pall just pings off the face and flies forever. Off the tee, off the fairway, out of the rough...doesn't matter this beast will get it up and on the green. Not quite sure it's worth $250, but find it used like I did and it'll be the best money you've spent.

This is one easy club to hit. I traded in my Callaway 13 deg wood for this 15 deg wood and what a difference. I know it also has to do with the face angle, but this is truely one nice club. It sets up nicely. The head is a little big, but I guess that's where the forgiveness comes from. I can it pretty far too. I thought Iwould lose yardage, but this baby goes far. Definitely a club to at least audition.

I was looking for a good 3 wood to hit off the tee on tight par 4's. I went to Golfsmith and got on the launch monitor. I was interested in the Cobra F Speed, the Mizuno F-50, and the TaylorMade r5 Dual. The Golfsmith employee relied mostly on the projected carry distance and the projected shot dispersion for each club. I was more interested in launch angle and ball spin, but I figured he knew better than I! After hitting the three clubs, the TaylorMade out-performed the other two BY FAR! I was hitting the ball longer, straighter, and more consistently, not to mention that the club felt better in my hands than the other two. I went with the stock M.A.S. shaft in regular flex because I have a slower swing speed. Although I'm rating this club a 5 for value, it's not because I got a great deal at Golfsmith. TGW.com has the club on sale for almost $30 less than Golfsmith wants for it. Although I've heard horror stories about people buying fake clubs on ebay, I saw this club new in the plastic with the headcover in the loft and flex I needed for $65 less than the store. I used the Buy It Now feature and didn't have to pay shipping. I should have the club in 3-5 days, so I'll play a couple of rounds with it and write another review.

Customer Service

The only experience I have with TaylorMade is when my old Bubble driver snapped at the hozel on the driving range. The club was out of warranty by far, but TaylorMade still replaced the club with a brand new Burner 420 at no cost!

Used for a few rounds so far. Easy to hit, high and long. Great feel. Only complaint is the Reg MAS55 shaft which is, imo, too light and whippy. I bought this new and cheap on ebay expecting to swap out the shaft....I knew the MAS55 wouldn't suit my swing speed. Expect to go to a Proforce V2. http://www.mcnallycga.com

Wow, this club is amazing. Incredibly straight and long. Buy this club and it will be your favorite club in your bag. Match this club with a dynamic gold shaft and you'll likely never buy another fairway wood. I got the dynamic gold R300 shaft. When I hit the ball with this club all you hear is that beautiful tink and then watch the ball soar high, long and straight every time. I'm not even sure you can mis-hit the ball with this club. If you slice or leave the ball out to the right you need this club. I have a new Callaway Fusion 3 wood and it doesn't compare to the r5 in accuracy or distance....period!

Model Reviewed: R5 Dual Ti 3W

After playing with the V-Steel 3W in my bag for a couple of rounds, I was desperate for a new long fairway wood that would be easier to hit. Since I just purchased the R5 D-bias driver, I figured I'd give their fairways woods a try. I got a 3 and a 5, and this is the most forgiving, easy to hit wood I've had the pleasure of hitting. With a combination of decent controllability and great forgiveness, I don't think I'll have to think of getting another one for a while. (Plus, they just went on sale, so I got mine new for $250)
