I've had the Armours for a long time. Really, iron play is the weakest part of my game and I'm torn between working harder and trying new sticks, maybe forged. They are definitely long enough, but I think there are irons that are easier to swing, that is, weighted/shafted better for my swing, strength, size. Moreover, even when I hit a nice iron stiff to the stick, the 845s Oversize NEVER feels good. So, I gave them a 4 star, not denying that much of the problem is with me, but recognizing that these are surely not nearly the best.

I got these clubs about 8 years ago now, and when i got them they were already 6 or so years old. They are the original 845 I am pretty sure. My uncle dropped them off one day at my house as a HS graduation present. I have been playing witht them ever since. I have also had many chnces to purchase new clubs, but I cannot muster up the guff to retire these irons. I have had new girps put on them twice and give them a good wash after every round with seems to prolong their life really well. THe only thing that I have bought is Drivers and putters. No wonder why they were the #1 all time selling club in the history of golf. I only wish Tommy Armour today was like the Tommy Armour of the past.

I am 23 years old (10 hdcp)and received these clubs used for my birthday about 8 years ago. I have had many opportunities to buy new irons over the years. I have not. I absolutely love these irons. I have bought new woods, new wedges, and new putters, but I have never had an issue with these clubs. Granted, it took a me a little while to warm up to them, but once you get to know them, man, you cna hit just about any shot you want. Best value on a used set of clubs has to be right here.

Don't tell anyone.... used 845's are the best bargain in golf equipment. I just paid 65 bucks for a 3-pw set.

845's are a proline set, meaning that they have the characturistics that golfing professionals desire in clubs, frequency tuning, progressive weighting, and ball working ability. The shafts are designed to kick in the same manner for each club, even though the lengths of the shafts are different (frequency tuning). The sweet spots on the club are large enough for a mid-range golfer, yet tight enough to be able to work the ball right or left on demand.

Anyone who can shoot, (or would like to be able to shoot) under 100, would benefit from this club. If you practice, practice, practice, and want to shoot in the 70's consistently, this club would not let you down. However, anyone who plays that much (greens fees) would be hard pressed to keep the new clubs bug out of their life.

If you're a recreational golfer, and want great equipment and a bargain price, look to TA 845's silver scot.

I got these clubs for free from my uncle for chrsitmas b/c he was getting some new 855's. These clubs are turning out to be really good. I hit a slight draw with them which I like. The good thing about them is you can feel it when you hit a bad shot. These may not be the best clubs for a new player but a great set for an accomplished amateur.

Great clubs. Put it this way, I returned my Calloway BB's because I didn't feel that the price difference was warranted. These TA's are really the best priced, best put together and designed clubs that my hours of research could muster. I'm a crappy golfer, no denial there. But I still like nice things at great prices and these clubs fit the bill. No pressure to use 'em, no worries if I screw them up. All around great deal and the sweet spot is just right for me and my crappy golfing ways. Highly recommended for new golfers and seasoned pros who value the dollar.

Bought these irons off of Ebay. Cuple of years old but still like new. The price was a steal and I couldn't be happier. Friend plays 855s' and I love them but they are much harder to come by. Still getting used to the stiff shaft (have to speed up the swing a little) but the are the best clubs I have ever hit.Pure feel when hit correctly and willing to tell you when you make a mistake. I like this in a club as I seem to be hitting with more consistency, fewer places to hide. Will regrip them this week and they should be like new. Overall a great club for the price!

I picked up a set of 845 Silver Scots this spring after reading some good reviews and have been nothing but impressed. These have to be the best clubs for the money period. Very forgiving, with great feel. I play less than 20 rounds per year, but the Armour's have made a significant improvement to my game, dropped eight strokes this season easily. If you want good quality, forgiving and confidence inspiring clubs without high cost look no further!

Played blades for years, tried Ping I3 blades, hoping for more forgiveness, never really liked the feel. Then I remembered playing in Hawaii over ten years ago with rentals where I had this miraculous 31 on the back side. Yes, the clubs were the 845's. They are easy to find cheap. The shafts on the newer chromed version are a bit lighter than what I'm used to (Rifle 6.0 and dynamic gold S400, X100). The heads are easy to line up at address and not so large that you can't dig a ball out of heavy rough. Ball flight average to slightly higher than average. With my particular swing able to work the ball either way with equal effort, no real draw or slice bias.

I love these irons! Tumbled grey stainless steel castings with Tour Step shafts. I am all over the pins with these and shoot in the seventies on occassion. I was weaned on forged blades and left the game alone for years, (you know....career and children) after being a 6 handicap. It was tough trying to hit balls after all the years had past, so I decided to give in to technology. Well.....I should have done this years ago! Never in my life have I had the feeling that the ball was going where I wanted it. I was a pin high guy who was left or right always. Now I am within a three feet quite often. They are very well balanced and I KNOW WHERE THE CLUB HEAD IS AT ALL TIMES IN MY SWING. My handicap is dropping drastically, after less than 30 rounds this year...(more than I have played in the past ten years). I demoed some of the ultra game improvement clubs and those 45 degree pitching wedges send the ball a long way, but how many wedges am I supposed to carry? These are quite long enough, very high trajectory clubs, that stop even Pinnacles dead in their tracks on a green. I can back up three piece balls easily. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for a quality club capable of getting you down to scratch play. After all...how many other manufacturers that are not big name companies can claim 25 PGA Tour victories. So...you may not be able to buy a golf game....but you can find your game for less money than you may think. I would not trade these clubs for love nor money!
