Model Reviewed: 845 Stripe

I have played EVOs since they came out - and was in love with them! I wanted new irons and the 845 Stripe had a similar look. Are they any good? Well, let's just say I now have two sets of Stripe irons. I have UST graphite shafts for cold weather and Platinum Tour Step steel for the summer months. I guess Armour went to Roger Maltby for an EVO redesign and then, of course, they were bought out by a Canadian company. The Stripe was kind of lost in the shuffle. What a shame! The 845 Stripe is certainly a work of art. They are absolutely the easiest iron to hit you'll ever play. It is so easy to hit a golf ball high and straight that I find myself "posing" after sticking it close with a 6 iron! Too bad that a good club can lost is marketing and finance. Maybe, I'll buy one more set before they are all gone!

Started to play seriously about 4 months ago. An upgrade set from a set from Big 5. Got 'em used with steel shafts & golf pride grips. Big change from oversize to the Armours. Sweet spot sometimes hard to find, I'm sure its my swing. But when struck correctly the ball flies! Great irons for the beginner looking to improve iron play for a decent price (used). Easy to get the ball in the air. Highly recommend them to anyone who wants to improve their game without paying an arm & a leg like them other big names!

I'm just starting and wanted to get off on the right foot. I've been to the range over the years and even tried some lessons, but now have to really start. Bought the Silver Scots used because of the reviews here. I must say that I am very impressed. I have Dunlop irons that are over 10 years old that I struggled with. With the 845s, I seem to be able to get the ball in the air significantly more than with the old clubs. Best investment yet.

i bought this set two years ago when i was 13. i am now an 8 handicap. these irons are very good for any players. they are very similar to the ping eye 2s i played with. they have a very solid feel and look at address. it is possible to work the ball left and right and the trajectory is fairly easy to control. both could be better, but it is made up for by the forgiveness. these irons are very good on off center shots. there is a very solid feel when good contact is made, and the opposite is also true with poor contact. distance control is quite good and the overall distance is good. the price on these irons is fantastic. the other irons i was looking at were two to three hundred dollars more and very comperable. overall these are an excellent buy.

I originally purchased a used set of 845s a number of years ago and reshafted with True Temper Tri-Gold Sensicore shafts, excellent results with a mid-boring tragectory. I highly recommend Sensicore shafts to effectively reduce vibrations from off center hits. I have no more tendinitis problems.

I've had these clubs for about 2 years and have been very happy with them. The clubs are forgiving but if you miss hit, you will definitely know. I bought these set of clubs based on the reviews posted here and the review for the most part are right-on. Don't be fooled by the other clubs with their bells and whistles. It's all about the person swinging the club. Definitely check these out before you go out there and spend your money on over priced clubs.

The clubs are alot more responsive than my previous set, so I initially felt every off-center hit. After spending some range time on my set up and swing, I've managed to reduce the errors and connect better. Now I can honestly say I find the 845s accurate and long. I consistently hit where I aim, and so far my carry has increased about 5%. I like the wedges especially because they slice through the sand and rough easily. I found common ground with what previous posts said about the clubs and their value. My only complaint is with the stock grips. They're small (and I wear a mens m/l glove) and slick. l

Excellent Club. I changed the stock shaft to Dynamic Gold Lite, and I am getting very good results. This club is very forgiving. Even the long iron is very easy to hit and the feeling is great. This is one classic iron. Too bad that they are being discontinued.

Model Reviewed: original 845 silver scot

For those who look for right club to buy I would strongly recommend the 845 silver scot. I have tested a lot of clubs and concluded that this is the greatest club ever made. Golfers in the US should thank god because the greatest club only costs you below 300 dollers. I really regret that I gave them to my brother in law and bought T-ZOID to feel the forged irons. Big mistake for the everage golfer although having good swing and skill. I can hardly find the original 845 here in Korea and wish the new high polished 845 to be imported soon.

I got such a good deal on these I couldn't say no. They were shafted with an "R" flex steel shaft. The tragectory was crazy high and the shafts too whippy compared to what I was used to. I reshafted with Dynamic Gold X100s and it has brought the tragectory down a bit, but I feel that the ball flight is still a little high. Otherwise they are forgiving and the 3 & 4 irons are pretty easy to hit. The other complaint I have is they are a little dead feeling. I will sell these next year and move up to blades.
