I have recently switched from the X-12's to the X-14's. The long irons are easier to hit. The mid and short irons are about the same. I get boring, straight shots, but can work the ball as well with these clubs. Great clubs...a bit pricey though.

Okay, unlike my drivers, I've been pretty loyal to my irons.
I'd been playing my King Cobra II's for about four years when I decided it was time for a change. I'd seen several new iron sets on the market that appealed to me: Ping i3's, Taylor Made Firesoles, and the X-14's. After hitting the others, I settled on the X-14's. My first round with them was kind of disappointing. My iron shots, though straight and high, were shorter than my Cobras. Had I made and expensive mistake?? Nope, a one time thing. In fact, each time I hit the clubs, they are getting longer for me. On my most recent round I hit a 6 iron over the green at 170 yards...normally that's 5 iron distance for me. My long irons are just that-LONG. My 3 iron, which I struggled with is now a 200+yd club. I think that with some more experience with them, I should gain atleast a club in distance with this set. They are quite forgiving, as thin shots still get up, and fat shots are punished only by a minimal loss of distance. The clean shots sail high, on a pleasingly high yet long trajectory. Now, that isn't to say they are without fault. They aren't the best club in the world in terms of feel. I've hit shots that I didn't feel at all...I didn't know where they hit on the face, till I checked the mark. Not that that happens often, but be aware. Also, these are a bit pricey...about $700 for steel shafts. But I got mine for a steal so I won't fault that either. These are becoming quite lethal weapons in my bag. Maybe you should consider getting a set. I can only assume they'd be of great help to the high handicapper, and us mid handicappers can hit almost as long as the real players with them. Great sticks.

I really liked these clubs at first. I hit a few balls with the steel shaft and a few with the Reg Flex graphite shaft. I got about 10 yards farther with the graphite, but less accuracy.

Trajectory with the graphite shaft is unpredictable unless you swing EXACTLY the same everytime.

These are expensive clubs as well. I compared them to the Titleist 981s (can't hit these - you gotta be pretty good) and the Taylor Made SuperSteels and Supersteels won and are a lot cheaper.

I like the X-14's. I hit the high irons very well. (Nine iron 150 yds, PW - 130 yds.) The low irons, (1-3) don't hit as well as my previous Hogan Edge set. 1 irons feels a little weak. But my Hogans are steel shaft versus the graphite of the X-14's. So far I like them.

Customer Service

Not yet. Clubs were custom made (I'm 6'4"). Shipped within 10 days. But you know, for almost $1500 you would think they could have sent me a visor or hat as a free gift. Nope, nothing, just my clubs. What happened to the days of true customer service? Long gone is my opinon.

I switched from Wilson Staff Progressive blades to the X-14's and gained a club in distance immediately. Even my miss hits are still players and these irons are easily the most forgiving irons I've ever used.

Good irons until now. I got these while shooting in the 100's now that my game is getting better i will be moving to a mizuno. I dont think anything hits the ball higher or straighter than these clubs. For a high handicapper these are perfect. They let you learn to swing while not killing you for hitting a bad shot. Not too forgiving if you hit it fat or on the heel. If you hit one thin the ball flies straight and high. I purposelly hit one where only half the ball made contact with the club and still got 133 yards with a nine iron. Toe shots are equally as forgiving. If you want to learn to play golf you should look no further. If you shoot in the 80's why bother buying anything else than mizuno

Previous post was a bit political wasn't it? I happen to think if somebody wants to play with an ERC let them. Just don't use it in an event governed by rules that forbid it. You still have to swing the ERC the right way. It doesn't just put the ball 270 out in the middle of the fairway.

Whatever.

About the X-14's.
Nice irons. I have been playing them for 6 months. I was playing a set of Macgregors like ollie won the masters with. I don't have to practice everyday to hit the X-14's well. And maybe that's what the ERC is about too.

If somebody could make a club that speeds up the play of the players ahead of me I would be happy. Unfortunately the majority of people who get the ERC will just be looking for their ball ten yards further up and in than before.

You can fix swing faults with equipment.

And if you have a good swing then play with whatever you want.

God love the USA.

Got a good deal on them demoed but the $699 is kinda high, however, these are super hitting irons. They are very forgiving and hit for days! I have never been able to hit long irons but I was consistantly hitting the 3 iron 220 yards! Unfortunatley, I am going to sell EVERY callaway club that I have!! Callaway needs to stick to the "Rules of Golf" and discontinue the ERC Driver. Quite worrying about your pocket book MR. Callaway, and remember that Golf is a game of Sportmanship and Pride, as well as just an enjoyable game. I hope others will do the same with protesting Callaway clubs if you also disagree with Mr. Callaway.
