Traded in a set of new RAM oversized graphite's that I won, for a "sweet sauce" set of Callaway X-14 with stiff rifle Callaway shafts. I'm an oriental Ian Woosnam, so having the lie adjusted 2 degrees flat with added rifle shafts have improved my accuracy and shot making.

I've previously played the "original" Callaway irons for 10 years.

These new X-14 sticks are aesthetically much nicer than my previous set of Callaway irons. The top head is much more appealing to look at when addressing the ball. Clubs are very forgiving and probably 5-10 yards further.

My bag consist of all Steelheads from Callaway (driver, 3W and 5W).

If you get a chance to hit this babies, you know why guys leave their old girlfriends for new ones!

Phoom!

A great set of irons. I have put them in play for about 11 rounds now and I have really gotten a good feel for what they do. They do just what you want! You can shape them at will and they are just a little longer distance-wise than standard irons. I guess this is the VFT technology. I had the x-12's but I like these better so I will be trading my X-12's in. Maybe on the new VFT driver Callaway is putting out? Anyway there is a good reason a lot of pros are putting these clubs in their bags, consistency. I know everytime I strike the ball if I give it 90% it's going to give me 90%. If I put a three quarter swing on the PW I get the same distance everytime. It is remarkable. Try it for yourself. I really like the way they rounded these irons they are not so blunt as past Callaway irons have been. They also thinned the topline a little bit. The shaft is remarkable. I don't understand how they can have it adjust to all the different loads various swings put on a shaft but they do. Overall I would have to say without a doubt these are the finest irons I have ever played with. Do yourself a big favor and get these for XMAS you won't be sorry you did.

I write this review from the single digit handicap perspective. I should preface this by saying that after using X-12's and X-14's for the better part of 2 seasons, I have come full circle and feel like these are the worst clubs possible for your game. Why is a long story and not really what I want to cover here. However, I would say that high and low handicapers should stick to blade-like cavity back irons if they are looking for game improvement. The X-14's are so over the top in terms of assistance that I think they prevent you from understanding your swing.

My biggest grip with the X-14's is a strange behavior I noticed almost right away. For nearly one-month, I tried to convice myself it was me and not the clubs. That is until I met others that had the same complaint. I would get "hot" shots with these clubs where the ball would sail off the club 10-15 yars longer than typical. Keep in mind I know all about the instances where you make the "perfect" swing and the ball takes off like never before. This is not what I am talking about. I am 3-handicap so my swings do not differ all that much from shot to shot. These clubs produce freakish shots out of nowhere where the ball just flies out of control. Distance control was just a bitch with these clubs. After a while my confidence went in the toilet, as I never trusted the stick I pulled from my bag.

Excellent irons, which "improve" your game where it count...the score. Confidence boasting from setup to contact. It almost felt like forged at sweet-spot. Require no aggressive swing to launch the ball far. The offset, although is more signifcant than other "player" clubs, you can easily fade and draw at will, which is more skill than club anyway.

To put in to words X14 is GREAT club!!! I play the golf for almost 6 year now and these iron are the best for me. You put a good swing with them and you have big fun. In my hands they feel great and playing now I shooting high 70s. You wont be mad at the X14. It wil do the things you are asking for. To go straight and to draw and fade. Everything all shots come with these irons. Do me a favor and get the X14 for you and play good then. Also don't forget Cagliari if to come to Italy you must see it. Very nice place to go.

These irons are great. Solid, powerful, and consistent. They are very easy to swing and give a lot of confidence at address. I find that I've gained about a club in distance over my tommy's and the control is a lot better. The only bad thing is the pitching wedge. It has a lot of offset to it for such a short iron and seems a little strange to me, everything else is perfect.

I really can't say enough good things about these irons. First off, they inspire so much confidence at address. You get positive feelings that the shot is going to come off right. Secondly I have experienced ultimate distance control. I have yet to feel a "hot one" come off the face. I can shape my shots to the same extent I could with my Hogan Apex's. I am really enjoying all the greens I am hitting in regulation. The game does not have to be so frustrating. Do yourself a favor and take a look at these irons. Try them out if you can. I hope you like them as much as I do.

I have really enjoyed these clubs. They are vey forgiving when your game is not on. I usually shoot around 80, but shot a 71 last August using the Callaways. I recommend them to anyone who is searching for a long and forgiving set of irons.

Fantastic clubs! Before buying them I've been comparing them for a few days to Ping's i3 O-size (also very good), Hawkeyes (good but too bulky clubhead), Cleveland Quadpros (didn't impress me)and Adams Tightlies (interesting). The X-14s were the easiest to play, the longest and together with the Pings the straightest. They feel very solid and mis-hit shots only lose some distance but fly very straight. I tend to hit strong draws or hooks. With the X-14s shots are straighter than ever. Trajectory is quite high but not in excess and lands softly. In comparison, the Pings and especially the Adams were heavier, more difficult to swing and shorter and although they are quite accurate, the X-14 were more forgiving and overall slightly more accurate. The Hawkeyes and the Quadpros were too bulky. Although I made solid, long shots they felt a little odd to me, especially with short irons. Hawkeye's trajectory was extraordinarily high and long but the price is also extraordinarily high.

A truly exceptional iron. I tried the X12's awhile ago and wasn't very impressed by them. I have been playing a set of Burner Tour Irons for about five years. I got little dimes worn into the face and I swear I'd sleep with them if I could. I was messing around at the golf store and I cracked a few shots into the net and I was amazed at the feel of these irons. Incredibly solid ball striking. Straight as an arrow. We all know how this works into a practice net so I called a local course and asked if they rented the X14's. They did and the rest is history. I shot a 73. If my putter hadn't been balky I might have been under par, something I have never done. Well the chase is on now. My GIR has improved so much it's ridiculous. I love birdie putts that are within 10 feet. I am getting at least 8-9 of those a round. Maybe they will make an X14 putter. Just a joke. You won't be making a mistake if you buy these for yourself. Enjoy golf don't beat yourself up. If you want to hit blades do it. But put the time in. Excellent job Callaway.
