Mizuno MX-23 Irons

Mizuno MX-23 Irons

DESCRIPTION

The MX-23 is the most forgiving iron available. Mizuno engineers produced the MX-23TM to have an even lower, deeper center of gravity and larger sweet area.

Until I was fit for this set of clubs two years ago, I had no idea what a consistent golf shot was supposed to look like. Not only that, the feel is awesome even on a cold day. I no longer have any excuses, soooooo... now I just better start playing more.

Before i got the mx-23's i was shooting in the low 50's. after that summer i was averaging about a 43 for 9. The clubs are easy to hit and are great for amateurs. They are also very forgiving

Had these mx23s in lite dynalite steel and sold them becuase I had 1 bad round witht the longer irons!!I have since tried everything on the market in the game improvement iron section and cannot find anything nearly as good.I am only a 90-94 but these irons are without doubt the best by far for feel, accuracy and shot shaping.I have tried the callaway x18 and wide soles and had to check that they were authentic because in comparison they were rubbish - i thnk it was down to the uniflex shafts.
After some time, I have come full circle to buy some mx23's with a exsar blue reg shaft. I know that bad golf is down to me and these sublime irons. The feel off clean shots give you a little serotonin rush as all good golf should.
I have tried the following clubs and none beat these: taylormades ht,36o lt, cgb
callaway x18 bb 2002 bb widesole fusions
ping g2's g2 ezs ping eyes,ping g5s, md ti's md blk hwks
mx23 short game wonder sticks long game wands.fabulous!!!!!

I have been golfing for a year and half and these were my first set. I have taken 3 sets of lessons and the last set of video lessons are finally kicking in. I can hit these straight and far with a high trajectory so I can land soft on the green.

I am just starting to experiment with shot shaping but are hard to shape than the MP-60 6 iron I tried.

My MX-23s have graphite shafts. I chose graphite because when I started and would miss-hit a ball it would cushion the vibration. I wish I bought steel shafts as my swing speed has increased with my confidence.

I was thinking of changing to the MP-57s because of the reviews but I will wait until I think I will be able to use them properly.

Have been playing them for a while now. Switched over from TM RAC HTs which i learnt my golf on for a couple of years.

Forged feel is great on good hits. But club feels really light - too light for my liking. Cant feel club head weight at all. Tried out several other irons including R7s and mx25s. mx23 certainly has less distance, though consistency is great.

Recommended for guys who swing easy on their irons.

I LOVE THESE CLUBS!!!!!! I'VE TRIED BLADES BUT I'M NOT A PRO JUST A PART TIME GOLFER. YES, THESE CLUBS ARE LONG AND YOU WOULD BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND A BAD REVIEW. MOST DAYS I HIT MY 3IRON 225-230....CRAZY! I'VE TRIED SEVERAL OTHER FORGED IRONS (BLADES/CAVITY BACK), BUT I ALWAYS COME BACK TO THE MX-23'S. I EVEN SOLD AND BOUGHT THEM BACK OFF OF EBAY. TWICE! EVERY TIME I FEEL LIKE MY GAME IS GETTING TIGHT (BECAUSE OF THESE CLUBS) I TRY TO UPGRADE TO SOMETHING ELSE AND END UP BEING MISERABLE! BEST USED SET UNDER $300 YOU WILL EVER BUY. I NORMALLY SHOOT LOW 80'S HIGH 70'S.

I am now in the senior group and after using a tour blade for many years I decided I needed something more forgiving. After a lot of talking to other golfers, reviews and giving various irons a go I bought a set of 23's. One of the best decisions I have made. Having struggled with my 3 wood I decided to use the 3 iron. Not the distance of the 3 wood (when I hit it properly) but the consistancy and feel are the best I have owned. The confidence they have given me is reflected in my game, a newpage in my golf life. Go ahead buy a set you'll never regret it.

I have to start by saying that i use to work at Golf Galaxy so i have hit EVERYTHING out there. That said, i only worked at golf galaxy so i could demo everything available and find the best clubs for my swing. After fooling around with Titleist, Taylermades and Callaways and the rest, i finially got around to the Mizunos. I didnt know much about them except that all the better golfers in the store swore by them. Well i bought a set of MX-23's at close out prices (around $300) and all i can say is .... they are simply the best irons out there for my game. Yes i tried the new MX-25s and found no difference except that they are uglier (imo). I also tried the rest of the Mizuno line and they are all fine clubs but the mx-23s fit me the best. They have loads of forgiveness but do offer enough feedback so that you can get better. I am not a good golfer but its mostly due to my short game troubles that i dont score well. I am a pretty good ball striker but do sometimes have the occasional miss hit. The mx-23s allowed me to ditch the hybrids i was using in the 3 and 4 i was having to use before i got these sweet sticks. I now LOVE my 3 iron and use it on most par 4's off of the Tee. I hit it about 190 yards and its akways perfectly predictable. I am just as good with it off the turf and i always amaze the guys i play with because i not only no longer fear my long irons but i rather look to use them now whenever applicable. The only other clubs i would put in the same class as these would be the MP-57s. I really love the 7-p in that set but find the 3 iron too difficult to hit and even struggle a bit to find consistency with the 4 and 5 irons in the set because they offer ALLOTT more feedback and also punish you allott more for swing flaws. The biggest flaw i have is that sometimes i come too far from the inside and so that equals to a real nice draw in the scoring irons and a hook in the long irons when using the mp-57's but everything is straight with he mx-23s, just point and shoot. Now i know what your thinking; why would you buy more irons when you say the mx-23s are so great? Well they are GREAT but i REALLY struggle inside of 150 yards and so i am constantly trying to find a way to improve in that area and i do feel the mp-57's are an upgrade over the mx-23's in that area only because you can tell EXACTLY what your swing in doing by the flight of the ball vs the mx-23s which tend to go high and straight even on miss hits and not so perfect swing plains.
So basically it breaks down like this: If you struggle with your swing buy the Mizuno MX-23s (or 25s) and you'll get much better results with them and they feel oh so sweet. If you are like me and a pretty good ball striker but are trying to take the next step with your swing then the mp-57s offer allot more feedback but punish you allot more for swing flaws as well. I will more than likely create a combo set out of the 2 sets of irons i have and use the mx-23s for 3-6 and the mp-57s for 7-P. If you have not tried Mizuno's irons then you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice. I have tried every maker of forged irons out there and without a doubt can say that Mizuno is the hands down best out there and worth every penny you will spend on them. If you havent tried forged irons before then start and end your search with Mizunos. I like them so much that i replaced all of my spin milled Vokey's with Mizuno's MP R series wedges. They also have a better feel than the Vokeys did and spin the ball just as much. I cant speak as highly about Mizuno's fairway woods and drivers but their irons and wedges feel and perform better than any golf clubs should.

All I can say about these irons are wow! The 3 & 4 iron stay in my bag now and come out for those 200-220 yard shots. VERY accurate!I got them over week ago and immediately hit the driving range(I have the stiff shaft from Mizuno). I had to change my swing up because I was so used to swinging hard, just give her a nice smooth and easy swing and you will hit just as far. With these irons you can even work in a draw or fade with a little practice. It was a little harder to do with the Cobras. These irons even seem to get up better and look like one of those "golf shots" every time you make good contact with the ball, it just feels GOOD! And these will even let you know when you miss-hit, and where! The only thing is that i wish my set had come with a matching SW, but didnt want to not have the 3-iron. I have heard good things about those longer irons and wanted to give them a try. ALL-IN-ALL After all my research i concluded that these clubs were about my best bet without getting that bulky oversized iron, but still have that sweet feeling when you know you made "that shot" I would strongly reccomend these irons to the beginner or the intermmediate golfer. Forgiving yet still have some room to play around with those draws and fades. Thank you Mizuno!!!

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MX-23 3-PW w/ Dynalite Gold Stiff Shafts

I'm sorry, but you won't find a better maker of irons than Mizuno on the market, at least for the mid-handicapper and better.

Having played the MP-30 and MP-32's over the years, I found the MX-23 the best of the bunch and by a considerable margin for my game.

First of all, Mizuno knows how to forge and iron. You really can't beat the feel of a forged iron.

Secondly, the MX-23's are not Mizuno's best selling iron ever for no reason.

Here are the reason's I play the MX-23's.

1. Consistency - these irons are very consistent when you make good contact. My yardage is reliable with these irons and the spin is easy to manipulate as well.

2. Distance - these are not the longest irons I've ever played, but they are in a large group with others. Typical yardage for a few of my irons: 5 Iron - 190, 7 Iron - 165, 9 Iron - 135, PW - 120.

3. Playability - now you're not going to be able to work these irons like a true blade because they aren't a blade, but you can still hit a nice draw, fade or even straight shot with relative ease.

4. Forgiveness - you would be hard pressed to find a forged iron that has the forgiveness of the MX-23's. Sure you can find a shovel head that will give this type of forgiveness, but you'll never truly feel a shot with those types of irons and you'll eventually get to a point where feel will be important to you. The COG in the MX-23's was moved directly behind the ball and this allows even your mis-hits to end up in good shape.

Ball Flight - very consistent with these irons. You can hit any type of shot you want with these clubs. I would say that normal ball flight for these irons would be average compared to other irons.

I still own other sets of Irons and play them from time to time, but 75% of the time, I have my MX-23's with me and for good reason. You can pick up a set fairly cheap on eBay.
