Nicklaus VCG irons (graphite)
I had been playing Ping Eye 2's for the past 16 years, so I'm not one to switch willy nilly for every claim of technological superiority. I've tried lots of clubs over the years, and some were very good, but not good enough to take the Pings out of my bag. However, The VCG irons convinced me to switch. Its really quite simple denser steel means you can have a thinner face and put more weight on the perimeter. That means a bigger sweet spot and more forging characteristics. It works. There is a trade off between forgiveness and worability with irons, so if you want to shape shots, its best to go with a forged blade like the pros, but if you are looking for a game improvemnt club, Nicklaus has some great ones in the VCG and the newer CGX. The clubs look great and set up nicely. They are high quality sticks. Heck, if Jack uses them, who am I to argue? Here's the BEST part. I sold my 16 year old Pings with steel shafts and bought the Brand new VCG's with the HST graphite Hyperlite shafts (only 50 grams) and STILL came out money ahead. Smart golfers will give Nicklaus clubs serious consideration. The denser steel is not smoke and mirrors like a lot of "new" technology. It really is and advance. Customer Service Very helpful regarding changing club lies. Similar Products Used: Ping Eye 2. Ping ISI. Big Bertha irons. |

Nicklaus VCG - +1
I have only been playing for about 6 months now. After the head of my used Slotline 3 iron went farther than a driving range ball one day, I decided to pick out a set of new irons. The +1 VCGs were hard to get used to at first, but well worth it. The irons are very forgiving for most shots and the ball takes off compared to friends irons. (I am outdriving friends, using their drivers, with my VCG 3 iron... that's when they get a good straight hit!) I would recommend these affordable irons to just about anyone. Customer Service Haven't had to deal with them yet... Similar Products Used: Slotline, Air Bear |

None I too have gone through many sets of irons before settling on these irons. I love the progressive offset on the irons. My accuraccy has improved and my distance is the same as my Ping i3 green dots. Cosmeticly very appealing, ball flight is high with no loss of distance and soft feel of these irons gives great feedback too. Any discriminating golfer who tries these irons will be hard press to find more club for the buck then Nicklaus irons. Similar Products Used: Ping i3 green dot, Callaway x-14 |

None I bought a set of these last summer and then sold them on ebay, going to hogans, pings, titleist. I dabble around quite a bit trying different clubs. I was always a bit sorry for selling them and found another set on e-bay for cheap that needed some buffing and new grips. If you can get past the point that these are not the popular clubs like callaway, ping etc. you will soon find out that the reason you want and need great clubs is to play better. These clubs probably rank in the top 5 on the market for accuracy, softness and looks. They are so soft, straight. I like a lighter head also. I could never really hit my long irons great and since buying these again have taken my 5 wood and 7 wood out of my bag. I can hit them high, soft and long. These clubs are a diamond in the rough. Check em out. You can find them on e-bay or golfclubexchange.com. Customer Service Don''t know... Similar Products Used: Hogan apex plus, ping eye 2, ping isi |

I've owned these since last year and really enjoy hitting them. They have a very sweet and solid feel. They have a smaller head than most game improvement clubs but I find that they are still easy to hit. The only short coming is that they are about a club shorter than most sets. Maybe the graphite shafts would help, but I like the accuracy of the steel shafts. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made SuperSteel, MacGregor MT, |

Great Clubs. Before purchasing I hit the Callaway X-14's and Hawkeyes, the Taylor Made 300's and Topflights. The VCG's out performed them all. Miss hits are felt but not badly. Even with miss hits I'm in the fairway. Clubs are pleasant to the eye. Only drawback is I've lost about 10 yards per club but shots are much straighter. One suggestion to Nicklaus Golf, Change the grips. Customer Service Clubs were built to my specs within a week. Similar Products Used: None |
