I have played the G10 for two years, and have progressively lost distance with these clubs. I have a love hate relationship. The four iron is not in the bag. I do love the wedge, and the G10 can hook or draw like no other club. But, don't try and fade them for even more loss of distance.

Just bought a new G10 for $430. Very easy to hit and very forgiving. Mis-hit goes straight but there is a 10-15% loss of distance. This is not the softest set of irons I've hit but if you strike the ball well, it feels solid. I don't really care if this model is 2 years old as the technology is still very much relevant. The best part I like is the custom fitting for lie angle. Being of a smaller built, I find most irons are at least 1-2 degrees too upright. Ping allows me to get the correct lie angle thru it's color coding. Workmanship is first class. Fantastic value for money.

For the last 4 years I've shot mid 70's to low 80's. I have a pretty decent swing and almost always strike the ball pure and because of this I've played with blades feeling these are the clubs I've earned the right to play. Truth is, I've always enjoyed hitting cavity back irons more than blades, especially the "game improvement" irons. To me, the larger cavity back clubs feel more balanced, more weighted and inspire a lot of confidence. I decided to make the switch to the G10's when I saw that game improvement irons were becoming more widely used on tour. K.J. Choi is now playing with G15 irons, 4-PW. The G10's are constructed very well and I really like the look and feel of these clubs. The wide soles play through the rough pretty easily and a thick topline inspires confidence. My set has the Z-Z65 stiff flex shafts that keeps the ball down to a mid-high ball flight and minus 2 degrees lie. Definitely get fitted. It's free and takes about 20 minutes. I could never play a club off the shelf. I personally have not noticed much distance loss or shaping capabilities since changing over to the G10's. I have however, noticed that I enjoy hitting my irons alot more. While blades seem to stay the same over the years, cavity back clubs seem to be receiving the bulk of modern day engineering efforts. Ironically, many people don't have an issue embracing a crazy-looking mallet-style putter or an oversized, weighted driver that's been engineered to the max for forgiveness and accuracy all whilst holding onto their blades or similarly dated-styled irons. Game improvement irons are finally beginning to have their day in the sun and I believe it won't be long before the label of "game improvement" goes away and these type of irons become the norm for many more golfers of all skill levels, including pros. The G10's are a real winner and I think Ping continues to make huge strides in the development and playability of their irons. Way to go, Ping!

Just to get tings straight right off the bat, I don't care for the opinions of sod laying choippers choppers. But I am looking at a set of G10 knockoffs and hoped to find a credible review to help me decide. Thankfully Jimmy decided to write a review here, which I know I can trust just by the what he wrote, so I may take a closer look at these clubs. For the choppers who posted their reviews here (the rest of you) please do us all a favour and keep your ill informed opinions to yourselves. You are just poisoning the wells for the real golfers.
My ratings are based purely on Jimmy's observations.

I owned a set a G5 iron I picked up used. I was playing them for about a year and was happy with them. One day I had some time so I stop in Edwin Watts Golf in Concord NC to get a Ping Fitting. It turned out my G5`s had a shaft that was much to light and the lie angle was wrong for my swing. After talking about changing shafts and lie angles I decided it would be better to trade in my G5`s and buy a new set of G10`s with the correct set up for my swing. EW had a new set for $449.00 not bad. Two days later a got to play and WOW. I spent about 15 mins on the range and right away I knew I was going to be a good day. I think getting fitted was the smartest move I ever made for my game. I shot a 82 with a few missing putts.

I had these clubs going on two years. I bought them from Golfsmith where I was MIS-fit for a grapite shaft even though I was 46 yrs old with a swing speed in the mid 90s for my driver and I hit a 7-iron 150 yards.

Foom lot's of use, I find the heads to constantly dent and chip at the toe. The metal is too soft. Also I've had to replace 3 shafts, they crack at the base where the shaft connects. It cost me approximately $70 per shaft. Furthermoe, the shaft is very whippy, all over the place when I swing. You should see it on a video!

I'll take my Ping ISI steel shaft any day over these.

Customer Service

Customer service has been good although a litle slow when fixing a shaft. Maye they ae just fixing alot of shafts.

I bought these last October and I prefer to use any club awhile before I review them. After a short winter lay off I'm back playing again and the G-10s are serving me as well as they did last November. I do now vouch for them and I'm very happy I bought them. I wasn't planning on buying new irons but with a sales price the result of the new G-15s coming out and the fact from the first hit I had to. I had developed a hook with my old Nikes the last two years I could never get rid of entirely. From the first time out with the G-10s it was gone. For that alone they were worth buying, but I hit them farther too which was a big surprise for I went back to the heavier steel shafts from graphite with the Slingshots. On top of that I hit a G-15 the other day at the local golf expo and I like my G-10s better which makes my sales price paid even sweeter. I almost bought the Ping G-2s instead of the Nike Slingshots in 2004, looking back I wish I would've

Just got my new set of G10 irons blue dot +1/2 AWT stiff steel w/ cushion. I couldn't be happier!!! I'm a club junkie and have hit literally every iron out there and came to the conClusion that I love PING irons. I've played cobra and lately taylormade mostly but I've hit callaway a ton. The feel of the pings is unequalled. The callaway comes close but I like the construction ofthe stainless steel and the durability othe G10. some will say they don't likethe looks I think they look sweet and different. Like everyone else pls go get fitted take five minutes and is worth it's weight in gold. I'm 6'2 and played standard forever and adjusted my swing and now that I dont have to do that anymore I cant wait for the strokes to just come off. Get Fitted hit these clubs once and you'll be hooked. And the cushions make them a D 2 swing weigh which i loved and the feel is awesome ever hit is soft. GET eM Ebay 350 bucks can't beat it.

I'm probably the best golfer on these boards so if you want to read a review that is "dead on", I suggest this one. The people at my club often say that I'm the best shotmaker they've seen, including pros. That being said, I liked the Ping G10 iron. It has a crisp feel and the ball launches off of the face. You can work these clubs as well. The AWT stiff shaft leaves a little to be desired and I would special order the Z-Z65 for myself. I play blades because I'm that good but for those of you who 4 and above handicappers I'd suggest the G10.

Model Reviewed: G10 irons and G15 Driver, 3 FW and Hibrid

I just arrived from the proshop (Edwin Watts Golf), tried G5s, G10s and G15s irons, absolutely loved them all, but if you don´t like a huge sole, go with the G10s as the G15 have an even larger one. Used to play a lot 12 years ago, had a mid HC and played with ping eyes2 (red dot) which were nice, but they felt like they didn´t belong in my hands, today I found out why, it´s the lie angle... I am, and had been for the past 15 years 6.2' so my proper lie angle is aggressively more up straight (google ‘’ping fitting chart’’ if don´t know what this means). Back then when I bought the PingEyes2 red dot I did not know about lie angles and custom fitting. This afternoon I hit about 10 balls with each demo (7iron) they had in the store and I was very very very amazed with the improvement in direction, distance and feel that the G10s with the right lie and length gave me over the other clubs that I’ve owned or tried. I’m sounding like a Ping salesman here but seriously, it´s just like their commercials, you start feeling like you´re a better golfer all the sudden, you even get a little cocky.
I immediately ordered mine, white dot with +1inch stiff CF shaft and thicker grips (gold color)4-PW,UW,SW, those were the ones that the pro found best for me according to my swing speed, measures and the ping chart.
As for the Driver I gave the Callaway FT-IQ a try, and it was ok, but for some reason (other than the price) I didn’t like it, then tried the G10 Stiff Shaft and it was better, also tried a TM Burner and it was even better, finally I tried the G15 9° driver with stiff shaft, and ‘WOW’ is all I can say, consistency, direction, distance, dep. angle, it has everything for me. I even tried the other drivers again just to see if it was just a matter of me warming up, but no, the best result came from the G15 Driver again and again. Got a matching G15 3 wood and a G15 3hibrid which is good for 210 yards (hits the same as 5 wood and easier to hit than a 3iron for me) .
Another thing, for those of you not familiar with 'tuning' your clubs to your swing, your shot and body measures, still thinking that is the other way around, do yourself a favor, do your homework! Before you buy! Aside from practicing, it is the MOST influential thing you can do to improve your game once one you have a little consistency (stable, predictable swing). I’ve heard it a million times before, you have a great swing, get fitted and see how you improve, but I never paid attention; don’t waste time, money and frustration. Get to a proper shop and get fitted.
Finally if you´re looking to start playing golf, perhaps return to the course or you´re a weekend golfer who just wants to improve your game to get that motivation needed to get even better, give the pings a try, V2 Raptures, G5s, G10s or G15s for beginners or mid HC, choose the ‘I’ series if you’re a better player mid-low HC, they all deliver. Stay away from the PING s57’s until you get a low HC.

Customer Service

Edwin Watts Golf shop in Boca Raton Florida U.S.A. They were veeery helpfull and patient, I would totally recomend that you pay them a visit if you´re near by.
