Model Reviewed: G10 irons and G15 Driver, 3 FW and Hibrid

I just arrived from the proshop (Edwin Watts Golf), tried G5s, G10s and G15s irons, absolutely loved them all, but if you don´t like a huge sole, go with the G10s as the G15 have an even larger one. Used to play a lot 12 years ago, had a mid HC and played with ping eyes2 (red dot) which were nice, but they felt like they didn´t belong in my hands, today I found out why, it´s the lie angle... I am, and had been for the past 15 years 6.2' so my proper lie angle is aggressively more up straight (google ‘’ping fitting chart’’ if don´t know what this means). Back then when I bought the PingEyes2 red dot I did not know about lie angles and custom fitting. This afternoon I hit about 10 balls with each demo (7iron) they had in the store and I was very very very amazed with the improvement in direction, distance and feel that the G10s with the right lie and length gave me over the other clubs that I’ve owned or tried. I’m sounding like a Ping salesman here but seriously, it´s just like their commercials, you start feeling like you´re a better golfer all the sudden, you even get a little cocky.
I immediately ordered mine, white dot with +1inch stiff CF shaft and thicker grips (gold color)4-PW,UW,SW, those were the ones that the pro found best for me according to my swing speed, measures and the ping chart.
As for the Driver I gave the Callaway FT-IQ a try, and it was ok, but for some reason (other than the price) I didn’t like it, then tried the G10 Stiff Shaft and it was better, also tried a TM Burner and it was even better, finally I tried the G15 9° driver with stiff shaft, and ‘WOW’ is all I can say, consistency, direction, distance, dep. angle, it has everything for me. I even tried the other drivers again just to see if it was just a matter of me warming up, but no, the best result came from the G15 Driver again and again. Got a matching G15 3 wood and a G15 3hibrid which is good for 210 yards (hits the same as 5 wood and easier to hit than a 3iron for me) .
Another thing, for those of you not familiar with 'tuning' your clubs to your swing, your shot and body measures, still thinking that is the other way around, do yourself a favor, do your homework! Before you buy! Aside from practicing, it is the MOST influential thing you can do to improve your game once one you have a little consistency (stable, predictable swing). I’ve heard it a million times before, you have a great swing, get fitted and see how you improve, but I never paid attention; don’t waste time, money and frustration. Get to a proper shop and get fitted.
Finally if you´re looking to start playing golf, perhaps return to the course or you´re a weekend golfer who just wants to improve your game to get that motivation needed to get even better, give the pings a try, V2 Raptures, G5s, G10s or G15s for beginners or mid HC, choose the ‘I’ series if you’re a better player mid-low HC, they all deliver. Stay away from the PING s57’s until you get a low HC.

Got re-fitted to insure nothing changed from my G5's (4-PW, Blue, Std) and bought a new set of G10's (4-UW, Blue, Std) yesterday. Decided to replace my G5's and pass those on to my oldest son.
I noticed after nine holes and an hour on the range, these are amazing sticks! 10-15 yards longer than my G5's and amazingly straight! I am in the honeymoon phase, so I will re assess after a handful of rounds. But initial impression is though there probabley hasn't been alot of technical advancements between the G5's and G10's there has been enough for me to see and feel the diffrence. May just be the shafts (AWT's vs CS-lites. Hope this helps.

Customer Service

Alwaays great, fast, reliable service.

Just replaced my set of Hogan irons with Ping G10 irons. These are awesome clubs. I immediately felt the difference. Ball flies straight and far with ease. They build confidence in one's shots. Significant improvement and gain over old irons they replace even though Hogan's were bad. I would recommend these irons to anyone looking to upgrade their irons with some nice easy hitters.

I score in the mid 80's. I was fit for a set of G10's at a demo day. They have been great. When I got them, I was shooting in the high 90's. 1 yr later I am in the mid 80's.

The clubs didn't lower my score right away, but what they did do, was give me great consistency. With the consistency came confidence, and so on and so forth.

They seem to be alot easier to hit, and hit straight. Don't think that you can't bad shots, because they will bannana just like any other club.

I absolutely LOVE them, and will be with them from now on.

FABULOUS...the Ping guy from the factory, spent 2 hours with me putting different clubs in my hand. Every club in my bag is 10 yds apart now.

It´s time for a summary of my Ping G10´s. I bought them last year with the graphite shaft TFC (stiff). Fitted to a more flat lie these clubs stay nice at the ball. I play the complete range from 4 iron incl. all four wedges. The club is very easy to hit. The ball goes straight and higher compared to my old clubs. The distance is moderate but I hit a lot more greens because of better accuracy.

I just bought a set of these on Ebay in Mint condition for $350. I bought them to maybe re-sell and make some money on them, but I hit them so well that I am keeping them. The mid-long irons are as easy to hit as the 7 iron. I drilled about 10 balls with the 4 iron, so my 9 wood is coming out of my bag. The trajectory is good. I get them up fine, but they don't balloon. They are also very consistent in distance from one shot to the next. Ping irons have always been great, and just continue to get better.

Customer Service

Ping is the best when it comes to customer service.

For years my golfing buddy (shoots 2-3 handicap) has told me to get custom fit irons. This winter I finally listened, having been fed up with the game, and as a last ditch effort to give golf one more shot. Got the Ping G10's. I'm the guy that skulls the ball often, or swings too steep and digs. First time out I was hitting them in the air nearly every time. Even miss hits I was hitting decent. These clubs inspire confidence, and you feel like you can really stop thinking about your swing, trust it, and think more about what type of show you want. I'm even able to hit a 4 iron consistently (that's saying something for me). LOVE the clubs. Only draw back is I have noticed about 10 yrds loss compared to my Tommy Armour 845s. I'm looking to shoot in the 80's sometime this summer now. If you skull the ball, frustrated with the game, and wanting to play golf a bit more serious, give the G10's a shot.

Customer Service

Unbelievable service. I was hitting 3-4 different irons at the golf shop and hit he Ping G10's and just knew. From there the Ping setup process was amazing. They really custom fit these clubs to you, and your game. I was sold instantly. Even grip size is measured to you.

Model Reviewed: G10

Bought the G10's after 3 years of Callaway irons (2004 Big Berthas, and 2006 X18's). First thing I noticed was an initial slight loss of yardage, but considerable better direction control. Slowly, as I played and gained more confidence, I gained backed the yardage and chopped 15 strokes off my score! I only ordered the 5 through PW as I do not play the 3 or 4 irons that well. I was so pleased with the G10's, i have just traded in my Mizuno wedges (MP-R) and ordered the G10 wedges. I can't emphysize how pleased I have been with these irons! With the X18, I rarely broke into the 80's, had trouble gaining altitude for soft landings, and off center shots were unpredictable. Now I regularly shoot in the mid 80's and more and more in the low 80's. They inspire confidence in every shot!

Customer Service

So far, I have can highly recommend PING for their service. I emailed PING hoping when I ordered my wedges I could use the same serial nunbers that are on my irons...no problem was the answer!
