Model Reviewed: Ping G10 Irons Graphite shaft

I switched to the Ping G10 irons from the Taylor Made R7 CGB old model that I played with for the past 2 years after a demo day and have to say that I just switched back after 5 rounds with the G10's. The G10 are great clubs with very good distance and forgiveness but what killed me was the big offset in the head. When I demoed he irons I used mostly a 7 iron and it was great, in a machine, but a different game on the course. I could not adjust for the head and was mostly hooking the ball with every club on the course. I just sold them and bought a new R7 CGB set and the ball flies straight as an arrow and is a bit longer than the G10. I play with the G10 Driver, 3 wood and 15* hybrid, and love them, just the irons were not made for me.

Model Reviewed: G10/Kent Sports Clones

I tried a set of the G10's and they are great... just the swing weight standard is too light for me. I purchased the Kent sports PX-1 clones of the G10, and put in some S flex UST Platinum shafts... GREAT irons! Kent makes the Alpha Reaction driver heads that dominated the long drive circuit a few years ago, so they are not the typical clone junk... these are VERY close to the G10's and at $8.50/head, a steal. The heads might be not quite as nice as the original, but the shafts are MUCH better than any Ping standard, so the result is, for around $180 total, a better stick. High quality stainless, the ball explodes off the faces.

For you guys looking to save a lot of money, the Kent sports clone is a super way to get same or better performance for a whole lot less!

Cheers!

I think that Kent sports has a lifetime guarantee on the driver heads, maybe the same for the irons?

Upgraded from a Titleist 983 this summer and tried Taylormade Burner, Cleveland, Callaway FTI, Cobra and the Ping G10. It is the best driver I have ever hit. Consistent, easy to aim, long and the ball just explodes off the face. Last three rounds are 75,73 and 70. For me it has been the best money I have ever spent on a club.

I ordered these with 2.5 degrees up-right (green-dot) and added .5" to the length of the shaft and midsize grips (I'm 6'3"). I also ordered the graphite shafts. These are very forgiving if his slightly off center (which I do a lot). They are also very consistent in their range even if hit off center. I have to give the credit to the whole club shaft, grip and build. They aren't the prettiest clubs, but I don't believe I could care any less about that.

Customer Service

I ordered them with the help of Golf Galaxy in Tucson, AZ on a Sunday and they were ready to pick up Friday.

Model Reviewed: Ping G-10 Irons, steel

I started playing the game of golf in May of 2008 and as you all know, "the first million is always the hardest." I was kind of fed up with how crappy I was with my this set of old Macgregor's my cousin gave me, which weren't forgiving at all. So, long story short, I decided to buy new irons and settled on the G10s after about 20 minutes at the store. Maybe I was just lucky, or maybe all the new game improvement irons are this good, but I really like these. They are forgiving and you can still hit draws and fades with them. My newest problem with them is that I'm pulling shots left. This could be happening because my alignment is off, but it was a common problem that I read about with these clubs and recently, I've experienced it.

I'm not sure if it's the clubs, or maybe I'm just improving as a player, but I'm hitting my 4-iron around 170 yards now and straight. I'm far less irritated when I play now and can actually enjoy myself. I have yet to break 100, but hopefully that will happen soon. So far, my best round has been a 103. Is it the G-10s or am I just improving a lot? It's most likely both. One thing is for sure: the G-10s are a lot of fun, forgiving, and accurate. And it's also good to know that when I flub a shot, I can't blame these clubs. I know it was my own fault that caused the mis-hit. I'm very confident inside of 150 yards and have pulled some nice shots out of my butt in the last couple weeks. Breaking 100 for the first time, here I come, baby!

I am a 22 handicap weekend golfer and have just recently purchased these Ping G10 irons. What a great set of irons! I was happy with my Nike Slingshots but made the decision to get the Pings because I was able to get a great deal, and boy am I happy I did. Much straighter shots, with less of my typical slight fade (probably due to my custom fitting) and added distance (about 5-10 yards per club!). I could see myself having these clubs for years to come and I am already seeing great results on the course. I have never broken 90 on a full 18 but the first time I used these clubs, without being comfortable yet with the new distance of each club, hit a 94. Numerous shots that day went a little longer than I was occustomed to and, therefore, added a few strokes that will probably disappear once I get used to the new distances. I can honestly say I will be in the high 80's within a month with some driving range sessions and a few games under my belt. On that day, a couple of other shots that were the right distance backspun off the green which is something else I've noticed. During my first couple of drivng range sessions, I kept noticing how although I was hitting the ball a little longer, they were stopping almost immediately after hitting the ground. I realize now that it's because of the amount of spin the clubs are putting on the balls. Once I used them on the course, I was able to really see the spin when the ball was hitting an actual green.

Get these clubs! You won't be sorry!

I haven't played a lot in the last few years, I just didn't have fun playing golf anymore. I used Cobra Tour II irons for about 8 years and didn't really think other irons would make a huge difference. That changed earlier this summer, I bought some Wilson Di7 irons and they are really great, except the uniflex shaft is a little to flexible for me. I played about 6 rounds which is the only six rounds of the year for me. I finally got a set of G10s for what I wanted to pay and had I known then what i know now, I'd have payed a lot more. I used to play daily and quit for about 8 years. With the wilson clubs, I was shooting in the high 80's, usually about an 88. First time out with the G10s, I shot a down 95 in the rain. I was wondering if I had wasted my money, but I was barely missing the shots. Next time out, I shot a double bogey 18th hole for an 81. Today, only the third time with the club and I shot a 2 over through 15 before daylight ran out. The shots just come easily to me now. 8 irons within 10 feet, 5 irons 20 feet, etc. I do use the new Cleveland CG14 sand and lob wedge and they're awesome too. Never chipped so well. The G10s are worth every penny, get them asap.

After playing Ping Eye 2's for 20 years, I ventured into the iron game improvement arena with the Ping G10 irons. I was amazed at how easy it is to hit these clubs straight. They are a vast upgrade from what I was playing. Same Ping quality, and I could feel these clubs wanting to stay square through impact. The technology in these irons is unbelievable. In one word, WOW!

This is my third day playing with my new G10's. I shoot from 83 to 89 for weekend golfer. These clubs have improved my short game 150 yrds and in. I left the course today scoring a 79. I am very satisfied with them. Missed hits still put you in play to recover. I have not worked the clubs for distance at this time but accuracy I am dead on. My driver can put me in the 150 range and my G10's will put me in the birdie range from there. I look to improve my handicap by 5 strokes in two months. Make sure you are fitted prior to purchase.
