Ping S57 Irons

Ping S57 Irons

DESCRIPTION

The S57 Iron provides golfers who prefer a tour-inspired design the ideal blend of feel, forgiveness and distance control. The small, stainless steel head is engineered as a players iron with an increased moment-of-inertia. A dense tungsten toe weight, longer hosel and a small cavity combine to raise the MOI for the additional forgiveness.

I demo'ed these irons last year as a replacement for my Mizuno blades. Got fitted for a blue dot, stiff shaft and bought a 2-PW set. Don't use the 2 iron but it came with a set I located. These are fantastic clubs. I can move the ball around with them and they are pure warm butter when you hit them...I do find I take an extra club with these but that is an easy adjustment. I believe another reviewer expressed that if you are above an 8 handicap, get the I 15 or G 15, but under-get the S 57 blades...you will never regret it. They are not cheap but they are well worth it.

I also switched from Titliest Drivers/metals to Pings and am totally happy with that decision.

My friends and I were having a few beers in the clubhouse when I noticed that the Ping fitting van was doing a little "demo day" on our range. I had about 5 beers in me but decided to try out the S57 on a whim.

You should know that I'm a scratch and one of the best ballstrikers I've seen. My friends can attest. Anyway, I tried out these sticks with the Z-Z65 shaft. Took the 7 iron and smacked three balls in a row within a 5 foot radius 168 yards out...I can tell how far I hit the ball within one yard. These sticks are pure. Like throwing darts. A player like me will only get better with these so I did a little sideways deal with the Ping rep and he got me a set right there for $500. I call him my "ping pal".

Anyway, if you're above a 6 handicap go get yo'self some lessons and the G15 iron. You don't need no foolin' with the s57. Over and out.

A very solid-feeling golf club, unlike its predecessors. The only PING iron I liked, it offers great shotmaking capabilities blended with a firm feel and fair forgiveness. Looks fantastic both in the bag and at address, and PING's custom fitting process has allowed me to maximize these irons, achieving maximum distance, spin, and most effective trajectory and smash factor. Not as soft as the Mizunos I had, but instead has a firm yet responsive feedback off the face. I absolutely love the brushed chrome finish too.

Customer Service

Very good club fitting services. Maximizing my game from +2 to +4 handicap.
