This is an excellent iron. Great feel and accuracy. Easy to line up and a good feel throughout the swing. Some players report losing the head on the back swing. I have no such problem. I have also noticed no reduction in distance with my clubs. However, I did try a set that had Flighted 7.0 shafts and noticed a big reduction in distance and feel. Conclusion, you need the right shaft for these clubs. I am using Rifle Flighted 6.5 and these seem fine with good distance and reasonable height. MIne are 1 inch longer though which will make a diffence. For reference I hit a 7 iron 160 yards. I picked mine up for £120 second hand but like new. A steal at that price.

Since there were only a limited number of these irons produced, I have wanted a set for some time, especially since if they were forged by Miura. Eventually they will become a collector’s item, but until then I shall play them because they feel great, look great, and have the speed, distance and accuracy.
If Miura made these for Taylormade, they would want them to be good, and this they achieved without doubt. As far as I’m aware they were had forged by the Miura foundry in Japan for Taylormade and each set of heads cost Taylormade £2000.
At this cost they did not go into general production, and only Taylormade staff players used them.
Ernie Els considered the model as the best model he has ever played.

Hello from the UK.
I have been looking for a set of these irons for a long time now , I have tried three sets and am over the moon with them , especially the ones with the S300 shafts , distance and distance control is excellant , but the two sets I tried with the stiff Rifle shafts just did not happen at all for me , so suggest you buy one S300 shaft and have it installed and check the difference.
I am 67 playing off 5 , was an ex scratch man , many moons ago.
Distance is quite simple , it is club head speed and quality of grip at impact.
I played Hogan Apex for years but these irons are without a doubt the best I have hit , for feel , accuracy and distance. If they are so good you may wonder why 5 now , well its the game within the game lads , dat putter.
Cheers.

Pete

I found this set at a second hand store and picked it up right then and there since there was only a limited amount produced to the world. I wanted this set since it was forged by Miura and it was worth it. I am not currently playing with this set since i believe over time, it will become collector's items. Contact feels so good when a golfer hits it solid. So far, it was the best set I ever owned.

The fci mystic is valid... these limited production irons are well worth the search. I've been playing the fci's for approx 5 mos now (replaced my 2 yr old Rac MBs... w/o question the most satisfying set i've played. I sense these player clubs were intended for the shotmaker - not the bangers who focus on distance. I get the best results when i back-off and let the club do the work... that being said, i've lost no distance from the Rac MBs. Though cavity-back, these are not game-improvement sticks. Soft forged feel is extremely evident when hit well... Highly recommend... try'em if you can find them.

Customer Service

Great service... got confirmation from TM rep that my fci's were Muira forged.

I was a Mizuno Staff Member (not tour staff)for 4 years until a friend of mine , who is a TM player rep, turned me on to the x-300 irons. I played MP-29's and 14's so that tells you where I was coming from. I hit the x-300's on the practice range before a section event, asked if I could use them and to this day I have 2 sets of Mizuno equipment gathering dust in my golf closet. They have every bit of the feel and workability of any blade I have ever played. The extra forgiveness is just a bonus (that almost makes you feel like your cheating). I will say this, they may be cavity backs, but they ARE NOT GAME IMPROVEMENT CLUBS unless you already have a very good game. That said, if you are coming from a long history of "real blades", you will fall in love with the irons.

Customer Service

I do all the work on my clubs, but TM does have very good service.

These clubs were purchased early this year and came with Dynamic Gold Sensicore Shafts with S300 Flex. These are Forged from a company called "MIURA" who does most of the forgings for the PGA, heres a link to them: http://www.miuragolf.com/ Unsure if other negative posts were using a different shaft (wish they had posted the shaft model), but anyway these Shafts are a perfect match to these heads! These clubs allow ball flight to be changed at will. Whether you need a cut, fade, draw or whatever fits the shot your trying to execute! I find these longer than my set of 320's and just about the same as my set of Burner OS's. The main difference is FEEL. Ben Hogan once said theres no feeling like flushing a forged club! This is so true with these! Flushed shots feel effortless. In fact, the easier you swing these clubs the further they seem to go. I've sold my other 2 sets of TM's because once hitting these it's impossible to go back to cast clubs! I just wish every set came with Dynamic Gold Sensicore Shafts, becuase I think the neg. complaints are probably coming from clubs with Rifle shafts that are too stiff. Most sets are going for around $400 on Ebay and I'm seeing less and less sets offered as people like me have found the perfect set of irons and will nor part with them.

As a former golf professional I was lucky enough to get a set of these irons in September 2000, before they were even available to the public. I would have to say that they are probably the best feeling irons I have ever hit, and I have definitely hit more irons than the average bear. These irons have been so good that they are still in my bag, and I have recently been looking on Ebay for another relatively new set. The people who are bashing these irons obviously don't understand the entire make-up of a golf club. The shafts that you'll find in 80% of these irons are the Precision Tour Flighted Rifles. These shafts are the equivalent stiffness to a Dynamic Gold X-100, which is too stiff for most average players. Do you people understand what happens to your ball flight and distance if you are using a shaft that is too stiff for your swing? If anyone swings the club "119 M.P.H" and can only hit the wedge 120 yds. then he sure isn't hitting the center of the club! These clubs are so good that if you check the bags of some of the Taylor Made tour players, they were still using this iron when the new 300 series came out. Ernie Els played this club for 2 full years until he switched to Titleist this year. I would recommend this club to anyone under a 10 handicap who is looking for a great looking iron with superior feel. Be aware of the shaft you a buying and you won't be disappointed!

Recently got this lightly-used set off ebay and so far I love the irons! This is my first set of forged irons. I got them to better "train" my swing, and boy is it working. I know when I hit it sweet and I know when I don't! The clubs are forcing me to put a better swing on the ball and not swing from the heels. also, I've had a chance to try drawing and fading shots, and guess what? I can!! In my mind, these are not exactly forgiving clubs, as you see substantial loss of distance and accurancy on mis-hits (10-15% l.o.d.), but that is exactly what I was looking for. Can't compare with muscle backs, as I've never played that type of club, though. As for loss of distance on good shots - no way. when I put a good swing on the ball, I get roughly the same distance from these irons as I did my prior set - which was a set of goldwin avdps. maybe 5 yds less, but the goldwins were boomers, and I'm using a more controlled swing, so what do you expect? Overall, I've gotten exactly what I wanted from these clubs. I know if I put a good swing on the ball, I'll get a great result, and I can use these clubs to take my game to the next level (single-digit index).
