These clubs are as smooth as butter. If you have a consistent swing and don't try to overpower the ball buy these clubs. They're better than the PCBs,T-Zoid pro-11,MP-14, and the Ping i3. They're a players club and if you take the time to learn a good swing they'll be the only clubs you'll ever own. Manufacturers, including Titleist, will continue to make other clubs but you'll be wasting your money just to own the newest clubs out there. These are the real McCoy. I just got these a week ago and at first I thought, these clubs are so hard to hit. I thought I had made a big mistake. These were totally different than my old Callaway Big Berthas. But on the third time at the driving range, I figured out how to hit these clubs and I have no regrets at all. These clubs are just so solid. You hit the same shot every time. You know where the club is at all times. Just excellent. I have the S-300 shafts, you need a fast swing speed to hit them. Just an awesome club for those who have good swings. I got them on ebay for $570 2-PW great deal. |

I received my custom fit clubs on the 6th business day. Advice: If your going to pay the $$ for these clubs get them fit by a pro. Made a big difference in my game as I had a tendency to push shots with off-the-rack clubs. These clubs are not for the lazy golfer who does not want to work on a good swing. Poor swing = harsh feedback. Get lazy and pay for it; however, for the serious golfer they get the job done. The Best? That is an individual call based on subjective data such as set up appearance (I like the thin top line and low offset, as well as standard size blade), swing weight, etc. Bottom Line for myself: I have probably purchased my last set of clubs! Customer Service Custom Fitting was very good and clubs arrived quickly. I ordered my set 1 week after my partner ordered Ping I3s and a week after mine arrived he still is not playing his. Solid hitting club. A pleasure to look at at address and a great feel. Ball flight is just right. You'll need a good swing to play them well but this should not deter high-handicappers who are improving quickly. I play them with the S300 sensicore shafts - I love them. Customer Service I lost my 3 iron on the range and Titleist had one built and sent to me within 3 days. They also responded to my e-mail on the same day. Just received my custom fit set last week and have played two rounds with them. I really like the ball flight that I get throughout the set. I had these custom fit and built with tour flighted rifle shafts. I would strongly recommend these shafts. These shafts have great feel and help ball flight on longer irons. Irons are more forgiving than forged but still allow you to work the ball. I strongly disagree with the review below that says these are a bad combination of 962s and 981s. These are just as forgiving as the 962s and much more of a players club than the 981s. These are definitly made for the better-than-player. Customer Service I was cutom fit on a Tuesday and received my clubs on the following Wednesday. Similar Products Used: Owned Ping Eye 2s, 962s, and Maxfli Revolutions. |

I purchased a set of the 990's two weeks ago and have played 3 rounds with them. After having tried several other sets over the past year I like these 990's the best. I get excellent distance and accuracy without the harsh feel that the 962's had. Plus I like the looks better than the 962's. However, to each his or her own. These clubs are definitely hard to hit. I have been playing for six months. My starter set was the Wilson Fat Shaft. You can hit the Wilson FS about anyway you want and it still goes straight. Hitting the Titleist 990 is like starting over for me. The sweet spot is small, but the workability of the club is fantastic. I am going to learn the game of golf for the second time, only this time with the right set of clubs. These clubs are not for everyone, they are for serious golfers, whether or not you are currently a high handicapper. Customer Service Turn specialized order around in five days. I had these clubs custom fitted by a local pro who had the Titleist club-fitting system. There is a definite advantage to custom fitted clubs vs. off the rack. My swing feels consistent with each club throughout the set. These clubs give me the ability to work the ball. This is something I would not even think about with the performance enhancing clubs that I did play with. These clubs allow me to consider different options (pin location, lie, wind, etc.) before executing the shot. I hit every club in a demo set that was at our ProShop, S300 shafts. Vedict: Nothing special. 962s are more foregiving, blades have better feel, 990s are somewhere in between with the worst (not best) of both worlds. Get a set of 962s or 962bs, as good of feel and workability and more forgiving. Why can't Titleist just make a regular blade like they used to (and do for Tiger)? Customer Service Loft and lies were way off my 990s, as usual from Titleist. Similar Products Used: 962s 962bs, X12s, MP14,29s, too many others to list. |

Weakness:
None This is a update, still think these are the best and longest irons ever. They dont have that soft butter feel of forged, but they do let you know where you hit on the face, they have such a solid feel, that makes up for the lack of soft feel, had thought about going back to forged clubs, until this weekend in which i shot a 76, think i will stick with these, also played a srixon high spin ball, and though it isnt the longest ball you can buy, it spun well holding on the greens and chiped and putting felt great.
