Titleist DCI 990 Irons

Titleist DCI 990 Irons

DESCRIPTION

From Titleist: The 990 Iron features a "variable muscle back cavity with progressively biased weight throughout the set. Long irons are weighted to promote playability and higher ball flight. I have played many different types of clubs but none gave the feed back and excellent feel than the Titleist 990's. The ball flight is great and they have added 15 yards to my game. The 990's have improved my long iron play 100%. I have always had trouble getting distance and control from my 3, 4, 5 irons but not now. These clubs have put the spark back into my game. I can't get to the range or course fast enough. I also highly recommand these clubs and getting them custom fitted is a most and free.

These are awesome irons. I'm a player who likes the look of a blade and confidence of owning one; however, being quite young (15) i didn't think i was ready to buy a set. So i bought the 990's which look and feel like a blade but have a little more offset which helps with those trickey long iron shots. The miminal offset still allows for incredible shot workability, I recommend these irons to anybody serious about golf.

Customer Service

I wanted them customed fitted to my specs so I orderd them from Titleist and they only took about a week to come in, I was very happy.

Since I have only owned Ping ISI's before these clubs, that is my only reference point. These are way better in every way. The weighting is more balanced, and the feel is softer on sweetspot shots. And even though the club length is shorter, and the lofts are weaker than the Pings, I hit the ball just as far if not farther. If you miss the sweetspot appreciably, then the club won't help you. And if you hit a rock, the head will nick.

I don't own these clubs! Just looking at the reviews for them. I was LMAO when I read Nick's review on these clubs. Nick's review is about 9 reviews below mine. He states that he hits every green in regulation, but he shoots in the 100's. He also says something like you should only get these clubs if you have a swing like his. Nick if you read this, be sure to let the PGA tour professionals playing the 990's know this.

I used these clubs and they suck, if you miss hit the ball by a millimeter it goes nowhere even if you hit the ball good it still doesn't go very far. the only reson these irons are popular is because of the name brand.

I have not had the chance to hit them on the course, but I did demo some at a driving range. They are for a better player. I feel the the 962 series was not broke, so why are they trying to fix it? If you want to play a blade, play a blade! Also why wont Titleist sell us the forged that Tiger plays? That would would give Hogan and Mizuno a run for the money. My advice? Keep your 962s and get some lessons. I'll keep banging away on my blades, MP14S.

I have not been able to hit these out on a course, but was able to use them in a simulator. They are quite solid and have a great look to them. I hit them very consistantly. I must say, however, that it would take more than that to make me switch from my beloved MP 14's. I have a feeling that these are a little more forgiving than a forged blade, and would recommend these to anybody who wants the classic look and feel of a blade, but without the consistant swing to use one. A good overall club.

I recently hit these excellent forged irons and loved them. They had the ball flight and sweetness of a forged club, yet were almost as forgiving as a cast.

These are extremely accurate clubs. Never got them on the course yet but hit them in the simulator and were superior to the other clubs. They are cast clubs but feel like forgings but still have the forgiveness of a cast club. I thought these would be hard to hit and was I wrong. Titleist has a winner this time and look at the amount of touring pros switching to these irons. Even Stewart Cink has switched to these clubs even though Titleist does not pay him to play them. They mat be a little expensive at $700 but they are great irons and they look good at address.
