I used a one hour range ball striking session and compared demo 6 irons from sets of Wilson Deep Reds (Graphite & Steel) and 2002 Big Berthas. The grapite Deep Reds did not suit my game, but the Deep Red Steel and the Big Berthas were both outstanding sets of irons. I was amazed at how well both held a straight line. Both were very long, soft, reduced hooks and slices, and held a strong high line on the shot. The Wilson Deep Red was slightly longer than the Big Bertha and gave slightly more feedback on shots. Both are excellent clubs, but the Wilson to me, was slightly better because of the length and feedback. I've since played two rounds with these Deep Reds and have not regretted my decision, not even for one stroke. They are amazingly long and hold an excellent line. Used to use Maxfli Revolution Blades, and got these just the other day. All I can say is "wow". Being a 3 handicap, at first I was a little concerned about the oversize look to them and the offset, but once I was hitting the ball at least 15 yards further, AND straighter, who cares what clubs you use? I feel with these irons all you need to do is swing the club...the stiff fat shafts will ALWAYS make the ball go straight. The feel is so sweet on a good shot...like Ben Hogan said - "It goes right up the shaft into the heart." Pardon the cliche, but these are excellent clubs for any player, especially a low handicapper. These irons are fantastic. I used to shoot in the mid 90's before I got frustrated with my irons. Back then I thought never thought that changing clubs would help lower my scores. With the use of Wilson's Deep Red Irons I was able to lower my scoring average from 95 to 84! These irons really do fly straighter than anything I've ever tried before. I would recommend buying or at least demo a set if you are frustrated with your iron play! |

Wilson Deep Red irons are sensational and I absolutely love them. Previously, I could only hit a maximum of 110 meters with a 5 iron. (Yes I know, I am a beginner OK :) ). With the Deep Red 5 iron, I can consistently hit 135-140m straight! That is a major improvement over my other brand I have used. I have never hit so solidly before. When I hit, I notice the impact on the ball is very solid, very smooth and very direct. There is very little vibration up the shaft at impact. Anyone who likes golf should give the Deep Red irons a try. Similar Products Used: Lynx Blackcat, SnakeEye, |

Great Irons. I tried them all and hit these the best. I hit them straighter and a club and a half longer than my old graphite clubs. Very easy to hit. I can work them a bit, but they really want to go straight. I hit 20% of greens in regulation last year and this year with these clubs I am over 50%, which for me is way better. A friend of mine talked me into getting these irons. I have played alot of different irons, callaway x-14 pro series, taylor made 300, ping, wilson staff tour blades, armour 845 evos, and I can say without a doubt these are the easiest, and longest irons I have ever hit. I also found the pithcing wedge so easy to hit I bought the gap, sand and lob. The lob is fantastic out of bunkers, as easy to manage as the ping lob. I would strongly recommend these to any level golfer. The straightest irons I have ever hit. |

For those of you wondering if the Wilson Deep Red irons are as attractive for low handicappers as they are for middles and uppers: the answer is YES. These puppies are field artillery pieces. I had to recalibrate all my distances, but the ball flies high and comes down soft and the hits are so solid the feeling runs up and down your arms. Not easy to draw, but fairly easy to cut. The fat shaft is solid. These will definitely help people who "flip" their hands through the hitting zone. Yeah, the PW is a little like a shovel, but I have even gotten to where I like it. (I am talking about the steel-shafted models, by the way.) |

I agree wholeheartily with the previous review. I had the original Fat Shafts but foolishly ordered them with stiff shafts. (Fat shafts tend to be stiffer than other shafts.) My new Deep Reds have standard flex and they are terrific. The Deep Reds have a softer feel and are less harsh when hitting. Note though: the pitching wedge is useless. I ordered a Cleveland 47 degree to match my other wedges in weight and feel. |

Two things - 1- If someone offers you free golf advice, take it. -2- If you are an intermediate-beginner struggling with control - BUY WILSON (deep red or II) FAT SHAFTS! I am your average golfer (95-105) who loves the game but was getting amazing frustrated with mis-hitting my irons. Then I recently got the Wilson Deep Red Fats. Wow! You read all the talk about them really helping mis-hits & figure that it's just a marketing ploy? Well... IT'S ALL TRUE! I have an admittedly horrible swing and probably would toe the ball if my club face was a foot long, but with these clubs, you still get a great shot out of it. All the hype, all the promise & all the technology ACTUALLY WORKS! I've heard that the Fat Shaft II are very similar to the Deep Reds, but at the price I got mine, I was thrilled to get the latest sticks. Bottom line - My distance did not go up or down but I have gone from hitting 5 out of 10 shots well to hitting 9 out of 10 shots well! (no kidding!) While I don't know if these would really help the scratch golfer, but if you ever mis-hit the ball, these clubs are miracle-workers. Easy to hit & hard to miss. They might be a bit spendy unless you find a deal like mine, but if you enjoy the game and want to get better - BUY THESE CLUBS!!! Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Call-x, Mizuno, Exec |
