Wilson Pi5 Performance Irons

Wilson Pi5 Performance Irons

DESCRIPTION

Each iron in the Pi5 series is designed to move a precise amount of mass to the club's periphery, creating maximum forgiveness during off-center hits. The unique back weighting of the Pi5 design goes from an undercut cavity in the long irons to a standard cavity back in the short irons. This design progressively moves the CG location giving players an arsenal of advantages – from a higher flight with more forgiveness to a lower, more controlled ball flight for maximum shot making capabilities – all with the soft feel of 431 stainless construction.

These are great clubs!! I have had almost every iron set you could think of, but these to me perform the best. I only paid 60.00 for these sticks great deal used at a local golf shop. These replaced my Ping i3+ blades which I've been playing for years. I knew these were my long term sticks when I shot 69 this summer lowest round ever. Great solid feeling clubs that I feel like I can just take dead aim with even though they are blade like. Very easy to work the ball and forgiving considering the head shape. Wilson got it right with these clubs no wonder why Padraig played with them for so long. Wilson staff irons seem to be severly underated! IF you could find a set of these on ebay or used at a golf shop you could easily get them for less than 100 dollars. Definitely worth a shot for that type of money.

I got a used set at a great price. These irons are great. For being a cast club the feel was great and you cannot beat the accuracy. With my old irons i was just aiming at the greens, with these I feel like I can aim right at the flag. I did lose some distance with these due to the weaker lofts, but I can hit the long irons just as easy as the short irons so it makes no difference.

WOW! These are great irons. They are built with true quality. They look, feel, and setup are fantastic! I have played a lot of irons, but these might very well be the best I have ever had. They are not forged, but they look and feel like it. There is very little offset(which I prefer, even though these irons are a little better than I am as a golfer). They are very easy to hit though. Little bit of forgivness. Wilson did good with these. I can even hit the 3 iron with no probs. If you can find a set, try em! I got mine off of Ebay for $115 with free shipping. Mint Condish.

Just changed from MacGregors V-Foil 565's. I was worried that the Wilsons might be too big a jump. They are fantastic. I am hitting them off the fairways very much better and on target to where I think I am aiming at last. They feel great in play. I don't always hit the ball perfectly (surprise, surprise at my handicap) and while there is good feedback through the shaft and some loss of distance on off centre hits, it is no where as bad as I was led to expect. On the whole pretty forgiving clubs. Here's to knocking a few shots off my handicap this year and getting off the very high eighties. They are also going for a song on ebay so well worth giving them a try.

I love these irons. The look great and most importantly, they feel great. I'll be the first to say that I don't always hit the ball solidly but there is no better feeling than hitting the sweet spot. These clubs feel great and are very attractive. I'm not good enough to tell you how well you can control the ball. I bought these used at a great price and to me, they are worth a lot more that I paid. My last set was Hogan CFT Irons. These too were great club and have a very similar clubhead design. Maybe its because my Pi5s are older but the Hogans are shinier which makes them a little more attractive but they both feel great.

The Pi5's are fantastic. Now I have played for 35 years and play off 1 at the mo. Picked them up for £80 off E-bay with Rifle 6.5's in!!!! WOW!!! clean crisp strikes, penetrating and long flight, nice head weight, soft responsive feel, where shall I stop!!!
Now I know they look a little low price compared to some, but hit them and see what you think, they're great. in the 70's and early 80's I played with the Wilson Staff FG-17 Tour blade and never really recovered from trading them for a set of Mizuno TP-11's, then played with Titleist 762's among others till I got these, mind you the fantastic shaft helps too, would have preferred X-100 (for £80, I know) but these are as good.
All round A1. Ask Padraig!!!

Firstly, I must comment on the irons' looks - stunning! Probably the nicest looking set I've owned (and I've owned many!)

Prior to these, I played with Mizuno MX-17's which were very good irons, but I wanted a set that would turn me into a better ball striker, and I think I've found that set.

If you want forgiving irons, these aren't the ones for you. The thin top line doesn't inspire you with confidence and if you hit them thin, you'll know about it.

Having said that, hit them well and you'll be rewarded with a very satisfying feel. I had to make some minor adjustments but 9 times out of 10 I now get a crisp strike. Accuracy has also improved since using these.

When I first got these irons I was a worried man. I went to the range and started hitting the 7 iron (usually 150 yards). I was struggling to reach 130 yards. I started to feel that I had made a terrible mistake and feared the missus would kill me if I changed my irons yet again!! But now that I've got used to them, I would say that I have added about 5 yards extra on every club. Trajectory is slightly lower than the Mizuno's but I like that because I play a links course that can be very windy.

Wilson Staff have been making irons for as long as I can remember and are often overlooked in favour of better known brands. If you can find a set of these, I would recommend giving them a try. I got mine (left handed) brand new for £150 on ebay - bargain!
