Bought the 52* gap and it became my "go to" club around the green, as well as the 90-110 range. I never would have suspected I would like a club more than the old Cleveland 588's but this has a softer feel. I liked it so much, I replaced my pitching wedge with an s59 (similar design), and my lob and sand with one 56*. The 56 is the most versatile wedge I have ever used. I can flop it confidently off the short grass, as well as off fluffy lies. It performs very well from the sand and from the fairway. These wedges are highly recomended for great performance and feel. For me, these clubs make it possible to think the shot, make the shot (usually). Also love my Ping G2i Anser putter.

Customer Service

I have called them frequently with a variety of questions, as I was considering the i5's (went with Mizuno mx25's, 4-9). They are excellent in answering most questions. That is the extent of my need for customer service.

Superb feel and performance. Big improvement over the MB series. IMHO these may be the best wedges Ping has ever produced, bar none. They have displaced by beloved (but no longer made)Cleveland 900 RTGs.

Wow. Best wedges I've ever used period. Bought the 58 and 52, 8 degree bounce on the 58. I did reshaft both with Nippon 1050 Stiff shafts. These shafts work really well with these heads. I highly recommend these wedges, great look at address, feel is like butter, spin off the 58 is amazing, open the clubface up slightly and it sits down like a butterfly with sore legs.

I purchased the 52 and 58 degree wedges, special grind TS.I repalced Cleveland CG 10 wedges, and before that I played Vokey wedges. These wedges are bar far the best wedges I have ever played. The special grind (go to the Ping web site for information) is great. These wedges are easy to hit, you can hit many types of shots, and they have allowed me to be more creative in my short game. I don't play Ping irons, but I highly recommend the Ping Tour wedges.

Customer Service

No problems to date, but Ping has the best customer service in the business, with Callaway a very close second.

Model Reviewed: 52 & 58 degree (std); polished finish

I purchased these wedges because (1) they generally have received excellent marks by commentators at various popular golf forums and other publications; and (2) they looked cool, which is perhaps the most important thing because I'm all about function over form. The second reason explains why I purchased them, as well as my new woods and putter, without testing them first. But, I tend to adapt well to any high quality golf club after a short time. (3) I wanted something different than everyone else's Titleist or Cleveland. (4) I have Ping irons which are pretty awesome (ISI).

As for aesthetics, the club does have a classic appearance at stance, which is nice. The mix of chrome and brushed finish indeed looks good. The Tour Wedge does have more of a standard iron appearance compared to Titleist/Cleveland wedges, which I appreciate for approach shots but dislike for finesse shots close within.

As for spin, I don't really have anything useful to say except that the clubs generate more of it than the wedge they replaced, which is my dad's 58 degree rusted vokey that I borrowed. But they are new so of course they generated more spin.

The gap wedge is really sweet and the cavity helps with offcenter shots when you're swingin hard, which was important to me because I really needed something to hit when within 100-110 yards.

The 58 degree has 13.5 degrees of bounce, which apparently is very high for a club of that loft. But this combination of loft and bounce is I feel the best way to combine a traditional and effective sand wedge and a lob wedge. Three wedges is overkill unless you are on the PGA Tour. I did notice the increased bounce on hard lies which I didn't like, but if I'm playing well I shouldn't ever have to hit from hard lies in the first place. Also, the Tour Wedges seem to have a slightly wider sole [than the 58 vokey wedge] which is probably good and bad.

Conclusion: gap wedge great; lob wedge also great but not a true finesse lob wedge due to the increased bounce and perhaps due to the cavity design, but I don't anticipate ever trying to draw or hook with the club.

Model Reviewed: Ping TOUR wedge, 56 deg

Before buying I wasn't swept away by the looks of this wedge from behind, but when it's in your hands it's a nice club. I do prefer the classic look, but I don't really care when this club can put me next to the hole from the toughest of lies. Magnificent out of the rough, just straight out, next to the pin and plenty of spin, regardless of the variety of cabbage I get myself in. I will say that it can be about average when you have a full 85-90 shot in, but for this, I can use my gap. I'm looking to replace my current gap with this club also in the 52 deg version. Great club, nice looking and versatile

After reading many rave reviews, I decided to try out the Ping wedges at a local proshop. What a pleasant surprise! Never felt so easy hitting a wedge, or any club for that matter. I bought a set of 52, 56, and 60 degree. I have played two rounds so far with the clubs and am every satisfied with everthing these wedges do. Now I understand why the pros prefer bunker shots to hitting out of rough or a bad lie. Only thing I am not used to are 1) lot more spin than my previous wedges and 2) marking the ball too easily.

Model Reviewed: PING Tour Black Nickel 56* Wedge

I love this wedge. First off, its beautiful to look at. It may not sound important but it just looks great when you address the ball. Also, its the most versitile wedge I've ever played. After a couple of practice sessions, I took it out to play. I shot a 37 on the front nine because I continually stuck the ball close to the pin with this club. It turn bogeys into pars and a couple of pars into birdies. Its been a while since I've had this kind of confidence with chipping. I love the 56* so much I will soon get a 52* gap wedge.

Great wedge. Versatility is the operative word, whilst the wedge looks and feels great, after using for about 6 rounds, I have realised I have had very few bad shots with this club, it just executes time after time whether it be full shots, chip and runs or flop shots, it gets results. The weight is perfect. Does not seem to spin quite as much as my BECU ISI Sand Wedge which backs up all the time, the stopping power remains good. Highly recommended. Recent playing partner (local club champ) who uses a Cleve 588 started mucking around with it and decided the feel was far superior.
