I decided to give this ball a go just because I felt like a change from the NXT Tour ball I had been playing for the last three years.

On my first round I had trouble controlling it initially with it predominantly hooking, which is my natural tendency anyway. After a bit of practice my next round was much better and I made my first round ever of under 90.

In comparison to the NXT Tour which is the only other ball I have significant experience of, it seems to fly higher off both the irons and fairway metal clubs. I don't use a driver so can't comment on how it would work from one. I also haven't found any change in distance. This ball also moves more than the NXT Tour in the air but after an initial disaster that has led me to improve my game. The HX Hot Bite I am finding to hold greens much better than I ever managed to do with the NXT Tour.

There are comments that the HX Hot Bite scuffs up more than the NXT Tour. In my experience, the HX Hot Bite scuffs up much less than the NXT Tour, I used to seriously cut the cover off the NXT Tour with my wedges but that extent of damange does not seem to happen to the HX Hot Bite. It does still scuff however.

All in all this is a better ball for me and will continue to play with it. I will not be returning to the NXT Tour.

I've been trying different golf balls that can perform well without spending too much money. The best balls by far are above 40 bucks. My favorite is the Prov1x. Outstanding ball, but too expensive for a casual round with your friends.

The HX Hot Bite seems to be the ball for me. The price is not dramatically lower than the Prov's (30dlls/box), but the performance and distance are very competitive. They hold well to the green.

They have a soft cover (scuffs easily) that gives a good soft feel, but the ball is hard and flies pretty well. Overall, I think this is an excellent ball to play with, specially in dry conditions. If the course is too wet and the green is heavy, I suggest that you try a harder ball, that will roll more.

By the way, this ball is great for putting.

I used this ball last weekend and we started in the early morning. Firstly, let me say that I didn't feel it performed nearly as well from the damp grass. If it gets wet, don't expect much of the bite the ball advertises. But I stuck with it and after the temp warmed up and the course dried, I was quite pleased with the ball.

I have a very shallow swing path and don't get much spin on anything longer than an 8 or 9 iron. This ball definitely helped me hold the greens on longer irons and I had much more stopping power with mid and short irons. The ball has a nice feel and responds quite nicely when you catch it properly on the clubface.

The driver is the best club in my bag and I did notice anywhere from 5-15 yards loss in distance (15 yds when I really hit it poorly). I managed to keep it in the fairway most of the day and since I was able to hold most of the greens on approaches, I didn't mind much. When I did have to hit from the rough, I really didn't notice a dramatic loss in spin. The ball really seems to grab the grooves.

Around the greens is where I really noticed a difference. Chipshots took one bounce and checked nicely giving me better distance control than I've had in a while. Pitches behaved as you would expect and flops absolutely stuck once they touched the green. I did have one ball get pretty gnarly, but I do swing shallow. Someone with a steeper swing would probably not want this ball, especially if their wedge grooves are nice and sharp.

I didn't really notice a huge difference in putting from other balls in this price point, other than it seemed kind of "dead" all day. I felt like I needed to hit this bal 7' on a 6' putt instead of hitting a Nike One Platinum 6'3" on a 6' putt. Maybe just me, but that's how it went that day.

Overall, the really is a pretty decent 3-piece ball that does what it advertises for the most part. If I was still having major slice issues, I would hate this ball. It really reacts to clubface position on the driver. If you're square, it's dead straight. But if you're slightly open (I'm physically incapable of hooking, so I don't know about closed) look out.

I won't have a problem continuing to play this ball.

I picked up a box of these balls a month ago and was really excited to try them out. Most of the reviews talk about how easily these balls scuff and they are exactly right. 1st hole, Par 4, 40 yards out, 56 degree wedge and huge scuff mark. 1st hole!!! I was really disappointed because the ball traveled pretty straight and grabbed the greens good. I scuffed the hell out of 4 or 5 balls that round and at $30 a box; that's too much for me. I just bought a box of Brigestone e5+ balls with a 2 piece construction and urethane cover for $25, so I'm gonna give those a shot on my next round.

The HX bite I found was the second best golf ball I have ever used. The Best ball I have ever used was the nike mojo. Ever since I started to us the Bite I have noticed they hardly every role off the green. That means i have easier putts.

I really like this ball and the control it provides on shots from 100 yards out. Previously, I have played with the Bridgestone e6+ and the Callaway HX Hot, and this ball allows you to can create much more spin to check up and really stick shots close to the pin.

On tee shots, however, I experienced a loss of about five to eight yards of carry due to HX Hot Bite's higher spin rate in comparison to the Bridgestone e6+ and HX Hot, respectively. While Both the Bridgestone and HX Hot tend to hold their line better, I am able to account for the extra spin and hit a controlled draw on a consistent basis. This is not a ball for those who struggle with a slice or hook.

The cover of the HX Hot Bite is relatively soft, and somewhat sticky and tacky. This great for wedge and short iron shots, as this allows you to impart extra backspin on approach shots. There is however, a tradeoff in durability, as the ball is highly susceptible to scuffs and markings. I typically end up having to switch out a ball after about six holes. With both the e6+ and the HX Hot, I have played two and three rounds with the same ball.

Some may balk at the $29.99 pricetag for dozen balls. I'm willing to pay to extra $5.00 premium for more responsive on the greens, however.

With this ball I have had great distance control, and spin control. It is easy to hit onto the green, but does not give a great distance off the tee. It is very very soft, so the cover is scratched quite easily. To sum it up, great short game ball, good value, easily scratched, and not long.

All the other reviews are right. This ball scuff easily but it sure bites. I can't normally give the ball enough spin to make it stop on the green. This ball does it for me and when I hit any short irons/wedges into the green, it will stop within 2 feet where it lands. It's a shame it can't last longer.

Played 3 rounds with these balls after reading the review. Switched from HX tour , ix and TP red tour. Scored 3 of my best rounds in years and dropped 1.5 in handicap. The ball sounds solid on driving and easily shaped but low spin to keep line. Excellent ball flight and great distance on all clubs. Stops on all length of wedges but splinters into toothpicks using full wegde with Titleist Spin milled gap. Once it happens, ball needs ditching as it has deep groves on removal of splintered pieces. Otherwise, excellent ball for putting and all shots. Cannot be faulted for price except wished it last longer.
