Callaway HX Red Balls

Callaway HX Red Balls

DESCRIPTION

Unlike any other ball on the market, the solid core, three-piece HX features a patented tubular lattice network that results in 100 percent surface area coverage. The design improves low-speed lift and reduced high-speed drag to give you a more penetrating trajectory, greater carry, more roll distance and unsurpassed flight stability.

This is a great ball, but as with all great things, your personal opionion dictates as to something being the greatest. I felt it was really easy to hit this ball high--almost balloon. I felt it stopped very well with not a lot of roll. Had one of the best flight trajectories I've seen. You know how it will fly and react. I would say this is a shot makers ball. I didn't notice the scuffing problem that you get with all the other high end Callaway balls. (I still have two very playable balls out of the three I started out with.) Again, I think this is a great ball. I think it's overpriced as with all high-end balls. This would be my ball of choice if not for the price. The CTU still stands ahead of it....

Ball is soft for a distance ball. Adequate spin. Good distance. Scuffs relatively easily on well hit wedge shots -- much more than ProV 1. For that reason, won't use them again. A shame, because all the other properties of the ball are very good.

Customer Service

If not the best, damn close to it.

Callaway HX Red -- Goes far far and far!!! My normal 3 wood off tee goes 180. With this HX Red baby, it sailed 210 yard with my new Cober SS 3 wood.

I picked up a sleeve at the proshop just to try them out (I was curious since I noticed ,otherwise all Wilson, Padraig Harrington was using this ball). I was amazed.. I was hitting straighter than I ever did.. if you are usually fading the ball a bit, then you need to adjust for it. Distance wise it was about the same as the Pro V1, maybe a bit longer, but nothing extreme. On the midrange play I had to throttle down one iron, it is my feeling that it doesnt stop quite as fast as the Pro V1. Putting was a pleasure! Price, ouch! what can I say? its not a practice ball.. Ive seen other people report it to be less durable than what they like, but so far I think they are doing ok, maybe Im not hitting down enough on the ball, which might also explain my impression with the ball not drop'n'stopping? Generall I like it a lot

Great performing ball, very similar to the ProV1, but a bit softer. The only drawback seemed to be that they scuffed way to easy. One ball lasted about 3/4ths of a round before it got too scuffed to use anymore. I can get much more mileage out of the ProV1.

First time using the Ball. Hit it much further than the Pro V1, Strata Tour Ultimate, Maxfli A-10. Great spin and feel even on hard greens. Been a long time Titleist player and now with no questions switching to the HX Red. Found that the HX Blue was a bit too soft and did scuff up more than the red and with the amount of spin off the Red, no need to go to the Blue. Competative price with all high end spin balls with even more performance.

Customer Service

Nevada Bob's Golf was great. Had good advice and very knowledgeable and professional staff.

Another overpriced overmarketed Callaway product. The distance is ok at best. It spins to much for a distance ball though. The main problem is the garbage cover. I have yet to have one last more than 2 holes. The cover gets hacked up and torn. I am not interested in paying $45 per dozen when a dozen balls won't last me 27 holes. If the cover was durable than this would be a decent ball. Any Titleist ball is batter overall. The NXT Tour is longer, more playable and 1 ball will last me 18 holes.

No experience with.

This is a good ball, but not the ball for me. I hit the ball higher than average with the driver already, and this ball increases that effect very close to a "ballooning" trajectory. Living in Phoenix I wouldnt mind this except for the once in a while that the wind kicks up. Winds were up the day I tested this ball and it wreaked havoc. The reviewer before me said it held well for him in the wind, but for me it didnt. Good ball for some, not for all. Personally, my un-wavering preference is the CTU Red over any ball on the market.

Customer Service

I work in a golf store and the people I've talked to from Callaway are great.

This ball is long, accurate, spins well and holds its line in the wind. I can hit it about 15 yards further than a Pro V1 and can spin it better than a Pro V1. Has a good soft feel as well. The drawbacks are that it does scuff pretty easily but I can get a round or two out of one anyhow. This is my ball of choice over Pro V1s now. The price is in line with Pro V1s and other premium balls.
