I play Titleist Pro V1's exclusively and always regarded Nike's balls as mostly hype based on earlier experiences. However, I needed some balls today and the pro shop was out of Pro V1's so my choices were to drive across town to another golf course or try the Nike Ones. I bought a sleeve of One Blacks and was very surprised at the amount of control and distance I got with them. They spring off the face of my putter a little faster than the Pro V1's but I think I can get used to that. I'm seriously looking at switching over to these balls permanently.

I'm a beginning golfer, but I'm learning rather quickly. Picked up a bunch of these mint online for next to nothing. The have great distance, shoot straight, and are superb around and on the green. The big factor here though is that they hold up well. They will scuff but they are not prone to the massive gashes that seem to plague the prov1 and prov1x after a nice wedge shot. Overall I'm very pleased with them.

Great ball with great feel. Ball is very durable. Great off the tee and around the greens! Better ball than any Pro V or Srixon, does not spin as much off the tee but has a good feel around the greens.

I played the older Nike One Black the other day and really liked it. The newer ones say one+black, this was just oneblack on the side. The ball was very long. I also nailed a tree with one and the ball only had a brown mark and was undamaged! As with the Nike Platinum, if I went to crush it I was doing the Tiger and spraying it right, but it still went a mile. The newer balls out there seem to fight the slice better and stay straight, probably because of spin, cover, dimple pattern, whatever. What I liked most about this ball though is it's a joy to putt. Nice and soft off the putter face, yet durable. A rare combination these days. I look forward to trying the newer versions out, but not at $40/dozen, unless a sample makes me a believer. There are too many great 3 piece balls off there now for under $30/dozen. If I want to break the bank for a ball, it's going to be a Bridgestone B330S, or a ProV1, I know I love those two. All and all, a very nice ball to play a round with.

Model Reviewed: Nike One Black 2007 Version

I had high hopes for this ball and wanted to like it; as it was rated #1 (tied with the Nike Powersoft) in last year's Consumer Report for best ball. I had heard the 07 version was softer than the previous versions, and since I put a premium on softness, I bought a sleeve of the 07 to try.
While it is basically a fine ball, it was also unremarkable in pretty well every area. Spin, average, distance good, but not above my other balls I play, trajectory: great. It also had more spin off my long irons and driver than my gamer, the V1!

All in all, I will give it, becuase of it's price, about a 3.5 out of 5. If I was going to switch to a longer, harder ball, I would go with the Taylormade Black that is harder than the NOB, but longer, and better spin!

I got them on sell for 24.99, i would say it play like Pro V1x, because it is harder and play lower then Pro V1. But i have problem about the skin of the ball, i am not a hard hitter by any means, but after a god wedge shot the skin are damaged. Just wondering if you guys out there experienced the same.

Recently I found 2006 version is closing out and can be found 24.99 at golfsmith. Decided to give a try and returned me a strage round of golf.

I usually use callaway HX hot or ProV which give me predictable distance to do right calculation. One black seems to be shorter in driving distance but longer iron distance for my swing compare to ProV. In my regular course which has multi-tier green, shooting in wrong level means an automatically 3 putt. So I posted my worst score with One black because of no distance control at all.

Overal the ball feels harder then ProV. Green side spin is medium. putting is true but feels harder(about same as HX HOT).

I dont want to say this ball is good or bad but I think this ball has very different charateristics compares to proV and HX HOT. Do some practice to predict the ball flight and distance. Otherwise, switch to this ball may go crazy.

With close out price, can be a good deal. But I think I will walk away and back to ProV.

I'm not one to break himself on buying expensive balls. I'm finally getting to the point to where I can play a round with one sleeve, so I decided to got with the Nike One Black. Where do I start. I played a 3 par course to test out the ball and its reaction on the greens. I also compared it to the Calloway 56 tour and the ProV. I also compared it to the Nike Soft. As far as distance it outperformed the other balls with no problem Even on hits that where not that flush it seemed to still stay true and get good distance. On the green spin aspect, the ball does see to bite. You can see the ball take a bounce and then just stick. Not sure if I was backing it up any but it was not rolling off the green. Everybody wants back spin because the pros have it, but most don't need it. The everyday golfer usually is short of the pin anyway. With that said the stopping power on the green is maybe not as good as the ProV but not that far behind. It does seem to traver further than the ProV. All in all get this ball. You won't be sorry.
