Cleveland HiBORE Drivers

Cleveland HiBORE Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Through the history of persimmon woods, drivers have always been round. As time progressed and technology advanced, they've grown bigger and are now made of a variety of metals, but for the most part, they've maintained the round shape. Up until now, form has dictated function... The HiBORE™ Driver has changed all that. For the first time, function is dictating form. HiBORE is truly the new shape of distance. The HiBORE is the ultimate high-launch / low-spin driver. Because of its unique crown geometry, the location of the Center of Gravity (CG)* is lower and deeper than ever before. Consequently, it produces drives that go farther and straighter from a larger portion of the clubface than any other driver in existence.

THE best driver I have played.

About a month ago, I bought a Titleist 905R and the HiBore. Same loft 9.5 and same shaft (I had Fujikura Tour Platform 26.3 put on both), so the shaft is taken out of the equation in the comparison, so it was all about the driver heads.

The HiBore appears to have a bit of a closed face versus the Titleist which seems to be square. Maybe this is why I was able to hit straighter drives with the HiBore while I still get a few weak fade/slice with the Titleist. This really inspires confidence. I am not hitting 3-woods off the tee anymore. It's the big dog on every par 4s and par 5s.

Distance-wise, I drive much farther with the HiBore than with my old driver (TM r7 quad) and the 905. I thought this whole geometry thing was a gimmick/hype, but I was wrong. At my home course, I was hitting one less club on my second shots on virtually every par 4s. What an awesome feeling that was.

So this HiBore is staying in my bag and I love hitting tee shots now.

The Titleist? I wonder what I can fetch for it on eBay.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland HiBore 10.5

I replaced my Titleist 983K with a Cleveland HiBore just over 6 weeks ago. I was very careful to make sure the clubs specs were the same. The Cleveland definitely launches balls at a higher angle and carries further. Depending on the condition of the fairway the distance is slightly further. The sound is quite a bit louder but the feel is more "connected," very similar to older metal woods. Initially I was leaving several shots right probably to different set up, but now I have adjusted and the ball flight is straight with a smaller dispersion. Overall I am very pleased with the driver and consider it an upgrade especially now that prices are coming down.

Had the 9.5% Hibore with V2 stiff shaft. The head is very solid & went straight. Unfortunately it was not very long. Maybe shaft was too tip strong but this is what launch monitor showed I should use. Using 9.5% TaylorMade r7 460 and this is considerably longer and easier to hit.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland HiBore 9.5 degree

My HiBore has the stock Fujikura stiff shaft, which is mid torque(3.4) and low kick point. The shaft, however, is quite stiff and the ball does not "balloon" even with the low kick point.
My swing speed is 93 mph. The club has a slight draw bias which I like. My playing partner has a 10.5 degree Hibore with a regular flex fujikura which is very easy to hit with a high flight path.
The HiBore performs best when hit in the center of the club (as opposed to slightly about the center for the 460 cc drivers)so you do not have to tee the ball up high as with the other large head drivers on the market.
The HiBore is not for the scratch golfer, but it is fantastic for the average to above average golfer. The fujikura shaft is easy to hit, the ball flight is straight (due to the lack of spin off the driver), off center hits go straight with little loss of distanc and the lower center of gravity will help 99% of the golfers out there. The club is relatively loud when hit.

In general, the feedback from golfers is "you are playing that weird club" -- as such, the price is coming down (I paid $255 on ebay).

Bottom line: An excellent driver, a hot, forgiving face, excellent shaft, gets the ball up in the air, straight (with limited side spin). The average and above average golfers should try a HiBore; I really like the performance of mine.

Model Reviewed: Hibore 9.5* Stock Fujikura Stiff

Regardless of my review on the Callaway X460, this is the longest driver I've ever hit, hands down, when you hit it straight or play a draw. However, unlike many people who have reviewed this driver, I'm having alot of trouble keeping it in the fairway.

If I don't consciously try to turn it over, it's leaking out right. In comparison, my r7 460 has a very small fade if I forget to bring the hands around, and is dead straight or has a slight draw, and is really long as well, if you get through it. The leaking fade with the hibore is still pretty long, but seldom in the fairway, so there's not much point in sticking with this when the r7 460 is about 5 yards shorter and MUCH more forgiving.

I'm not saying this club is bad, it could just be that the stock fujikura shaft doesn't fit me well, even though I was bombing it straight on the launch monitor.

Overall, my suggestion would be to try one on the range before buying it.

This does have a great feel to the face, just like any cleveland driver, and the look at address wasn't bad for me, but I just couldn't get used to the leaking right on mis-hits. All in all, if you're looking for a club to straighten out your fade, this isn't it. But if you can consistently turn the ball over or at least hit it straight, this is a very long, low backspin, high launch bomber of a driver.

This driver is pretty easy to hit straight. The sound is dull, compared to others, but that is really no isssue. The problem, for me, is that it is only average long. For $399, or for $299 on Ebay, it just HAS to be longer. Maybe it is the factory Fuji S flex shaft, but I doubt it, as the factory fuji in the Comp 460 has given me the longest drives I have ever hit. Also, my Nickent Trimax is longer by at least 10-20 yards, as was my Cobra SZ440. Even my old Snake Eyes Compressor is 10 yards longer, and it cost me $50. The Cleveland Comp is 20-30 yards longer, and I just bought a brand new one on Ebay for $125. The Nickent Trimax is available used for $60-$90. It is not a huge thing that Vijay went back to his Comp,l but I bet the big wigs at Cleveland Golf felt their undies tighten up when he did! Seems like many huys here are happy with their Hi-Bore, and that is cool, for me, it is, unfortunately, average. Hope everybody finds their "magic" stick!

This driver is awesome. I played with the Titleist 905T for the last 2 years and never felt very confident with the club. Switched to the Hi-Bore in late March and have been driving the ball extremely consistent. Great sound at impact, great feel, I really like the way it looks behind the ball, all and all just a great club. The only negative is my playing partners provide smack talk about the way it looks - probably because I am kicking their butt.

Model Reviewed: cleveland highbore 9.5 YS6 stiff

Just recieved this driver after custom ordering this in the YS6 stiff shaft. I demoed many different shafts before ordering this one. So far I have been very pleased with the results, I have been hitting this 10 to 15 yards longer than any of my previous drivers. The biggest improvment has been the accurracy. this driver is very easy to keep in play. The only thing that has baffled me a bit is the trajectory I have been hitting this on. I was very concerned that I would hit this to high as I tend be a high ball hitter, after reading the reviews on this that was my only concern. While demoing this I hit the driver @ 12 to 13 degrees so I ordered it with the YS6 shaft that has a mid bend point. The results so far have been great although I am still htting this with a very low ball flight, this may be due to the way the driver sets up that allows you to tee the ball much lower than most of the current 460 cc drivers. I will just need to exsperiment with different tee hights to find what is going to be ideal. When I get the ball flight where it needs to be I believe I will be hitting this even longer. I have been averaging 240 to 250 yd drives. I believe this driver is going to have me averaging closer to 270 yds. Not the best looking or feeling driver out there, but this is the best driver I have hit for long accurate drives.

Best Driver ever. Tried one at a Cleveland Demo day against my Launcher Comp. 15 yards longer and MUCH straighter. The launch monitor confirmed this. Hitting the club on the center of the face helps me since I could never get used to teeing the ball high as required by the FT3 Callaway I also tried. Found one on Ebay for $285 and have played it four rounds. I'm hitting it long and straight on the wide open holes. For narrow holes I tee it lower, choke up an inch hit the fairways. I've reduced my penalty strokes per round from 3 to zero.

Model Reviewed: HiBore

Bought driver at a Cleveland Demo day--with their club making van and swing monitor. Owned Cleveland 460 Launcher Ti and wanted to know if I had the right loft and shaft. They said the HiBore would be 20 yards longer and straighter than Launcher--based upon their technology. Bought the driver and in fact it is probably 10 yards shorter. It is very straight. I understand "buyer beware" but I think the Cleveland Van folks "mislead" me. They also lost a future customer
