Cleveland HiBORE Drivers

Cleveland HiBORE Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Through the history of persimmon woods, drivers have always been round. As time progressed and technology advanced, they've grown bigger and are now made of a variety of metals, but for the most part, they've maintained the round shape. Up until now, form has dictated function... The HiBORE™ Driver has changed all that. For the first time, function is dictating form. HiBORE is truly the new shape of distance. The HiBORE is the ultimate high-launch / low-spin driver. Because of its unique crown geometry, the location of the Center of Gravity (CG)* is lower and deeper than ever before. Consequently, it produces drives that go farther and straighter from a larger portion of the clubface than any other driver in existence.

This club is truely amazing. It improved my game the first day I bought it. It was the first time I had ever invested so much money on a single club and was feeling a bit uneasy about my purchase until I took it to the range and realized how easy it was to hit. I've never hit so far or so consistently straight with any other driver. I recommend this club to anyone with the money to spend on it. At a pretty penny ($400) I can't quite give it a 5 in the "value" department (no single club should ever cost that much).. but definitely worth the investment if you can afford it.

This is the best driver I have hit and it isn't even close. I hit the ball relatively long and with all these new big 460cc heads it is very difficult to control the driver. I've hit just about every other driver on the market and this one is by far the easiest to control and still very very long. Working the ball left to right or right to left is simple. The clubhead looks a bit different but you get used to it very fast when you are striping it right down the middle of the fairway. To me at address the HiBore looks much smaller than the other 460cc heads. Buy this driver, Cleveland has a great deal going right now as well so hurry!!!

This club is fantastic. The feeling of this club is so solid at impact, it truly feels like you are crushing balls. Maybe this is a personal thing for me, but i hit this club 10 times better than i hit any other driver. while drives were my weakness i was able to hit a 43 through 9 today and before using the driver i had never broken 49. great club.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Hi Bore with Aldila NV Shaft

I got fitted for this driver using a launch monitor. The set up that that I bought was 9.5 loft, stiff, with the VV shaft. With the launch monitor, I was carrying it 250 and very straight.
Today was the 1st time I used it on a course and I, as well as my buddy, was amazed. I hit this on a rope and was consistantly hitting it 270+. This driver feels a lot lighter than other 460cc drivers so I can get very agressive with my swing. My previous driver was the Titleist 983E and just getting the Hi Bore added 25+ yards to my drives.
I highly recommned getting fitted for it. My Titleist was a 8.5 loft but I was hitting it very high. With the cleveland, though a higher loft, with the right shaft in place, I am getting a much lower and better trajectory.
The price is steep but I am giving it 5 stars for value because when I bought it, Golfsmith had a special where you get a free CG 11 wedge. I got the black pearl gap wedge, which is a $130 club.

THIS CLUB ROCKS!!!!!

I played the Launcher 400 for 1 year before deciding to upgrade drivers this winter. I went through:

Callaway 454 and 460x
Mizuno MX-500
Nike Sasquatch Tour
Taylormade R7
Tour Edge Exotics

Needless to say my ebay account has been busy... But this is the ONE. THis club just kills the ball dead straight. It sets up well and is the best club I have ever hit!

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Hibore

I was hitting demo drivers in the Roger Dunn Golf Shop in Santa Ana, CA. I heard Vijay touting this driver as the latest greatest, but thought that I would never buy it because of its odd shape.

Someone left one in the hitting stalls and I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, I liked the feel of the Hibore. It was like a hot knife slicing effortlessly through butter on 90 percent of the hits.

I thought I had better demo the driver the next day on the outdoor range to see if the distance was equal to the feel.

Luckily, Cleveland held a demo at another local course. Low and behold, the range balls were carrying approximately 260-265 in the air. My swing speed is maxed out at about 112-114 mph on the swingmate (swinging out of my shoes), but I like to keep it in the low 100's to optimize distance and accuracy.

The Cleveland Rep fit me with a Fujikura Regular Shaft and again it felt like knife slicing through butter. This shaft weighs only 55 grams, as opposed to the Stiff, which is 65 grams. Both went straight, but I got a little more distance and higher ball trajectory from the Regular shaft.

This shaft and head combo instills confidence to swing for the fences because it is straight and extremely long off the tee. I have mainly been a Titleist driver man, but Cleveland has the top dog right now!

I am definitely picking one of these puppies up on ebay. TGW also sells them at a reasonable price for $339 w/ a free wedge.

If you can get past the odd shape, this is one of the best performing drivers currently on the market. Don't forget to get fitted to optimize your distance and accuracy!

Model Reviewed: Cleveland HiBore, 9.5 degree

I just wanted to follow up on my review of a month or so ago, now that I've had a chance to put the HiBore in play for a couple of rounds.

I have a 9.5 degree HiBore with a stiff Aldila NV65 shaft, and the more I hit this club, the more impressed I am. In my earlier review, I talked about how straight this club is, regardless of considerations like distance or ability to work the ball left or right. I'm now completely convinced that, not only is the club impressively long, but it's absolutely able to work the ball left and right if you know how to make those swings. In fact, I would say that the HiBore's tendency to hit straight simply makes hooks and slices behave more like draws and fades; in other words, its relatively tight dispersion comes from lessening the mistakes we make when we get "handsy."

I truly have nothing bad to say about this club. I guess if you're someone who really likes to tee the ball high, the HiBore's face isn't quite as deep top-to-bottom as some of the other big clubs around these days, so you might be slightly more likely to hit a "sky-ball" with the HiBore than a deeper-faced club. Personally, I like the looks and dimensions of this club a lot, and I imagine that'll only increase the more rounds I play with it.

I think there's a tendency to dismiss this club because of its odd shape; I also think to not take one out for a try is a real missed opportunity.
