MacGregor Mactec NVG Drivers

MacGregor Mactec NVG Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Dual Beta titanium clubhead construction which shifts 7 grams of weight from the crown to the sole. That means lower CG, less spin and more distance. TVC Beta titanium face insert gives high rebound characteristics across the entire face for maximum forgiveness, high launch angle and optimized distance and accuracy. Tungsten weighting system features strategic heel and toe weighting for stability and back weighting to promote draw bias. The exclusive Quadra-Action graphite shaft promotes faster clubhead speed without swinging harder resulting in greater distance and core accuracy.

This is probably more of a first impression than a review, but if you're looking for a new driver this one deserves a try.
I've only played one round with it but I'm impressed with its length and control.
I got the 11.5 because hitting fairways is my main priority.
Usually it takes a few rounds to adjust to a new driver. Not so with this stick.
It was like it had been in my bag for a full season.
And I was able to control the ball flight with the 11.5.
I like the looks, the feel, the sound and the performance. The 435cc head size sits up perfectly for me.
And you can find these online in a variety of lofts and flexes at very attractive prices.
I can never remember feeling this much confidence in a driver after only one round.
And I know it's not swing since I haven't played in a couple of months.
all good

I purchased this club in the sping 06'. After constant demos of verious drivers at the local demo days, and I got a realitive good deal at the time. I tried everything including the newer NVG2. This club gave me confidence, and I enjoyed the blue head and shaft. The sound is a love it or hate it, and I love it and it absolutly scares people. I only changed the grip to a Winn grip I'm familiar with. 9* with stiff quadrashaft and my course drives 270 consistant and high% of faiways hit. I need irons built with confidence in them and I'll improve that game. This is a beautiful club at a great value now, and after a season with it I approve of this model for any player.
WHACK! swing hard to the fences.

Purchased the 10.5 degree reg of ebay 6 months ago. Read many reviews about this driver and should have paid more attention to the comments on the softness of the shaft. Whilst distance was o.k consistency was an issue due to the whippiness of the shaft. Had it re-shafted a month ago with an adila nv65r which has turned this driver into my favourite club. I now hit this driver 20 metres further(probably due to a lower ball flight) but with much more consistency. Sound has altered slightly too - now not as loud as before and the green shaft looks great with the blue head of the mactec.

I did NOT play the nvg2 with cupface 360*.. I traded my R7 quad ht for this straight up because i heard this was the longest on the market (huge mistake). Mind you, when i bought this 2 years ago i was a far cry from the player i am now, but i was no hacker. Although it looked cool my driving struggled to no end for the short few months i had this driver. I seemed to do alright with it on the range, but i hated the feel and sound of it. Felt like i was hitting a concrete wall at impact, terrible vibration from off center hits.. almost painful. Anything off center will be OB 190 yards off the tee. Mind you when i hit the sweet spot it was straight and long. I switched to a 983k.. and what a complete 360. I realize things are different for everyone, although im surprised some people seemed to really like this driver.. it is the only driver that actually made me shot higher scores. If you're looking for game improvement look else where, please.

Imagine yourself at the range... and the persons on either side are repeatedly producing the dull 'thump' of solid strikes again and again. Well, then plant yourself between them and give them a jump with a Louiville Slugger aluminum bat! Whack! It is a delightful sound. I dunno- this driver is spectacular on slight deviant strikes, but if I should be more consistant I should seek milage elseware. For now, this is my favorite weapon. -R.Chalk

Bought this driver about a month ago and held off writing a review until I had used the driver a few times. At first I loved it, long straight easy to hit... Then the next few rounds I found my slice had returned and it was worse than ever, almost wanted to throw this thing in the pond. Went to the driving range to work on my swing and found that I just needed to slow down a bit, let the quadra action shaft do what it was supposed to. Now I love this club, I'm hitting longer and straighter than ever, even put a few out near 340yd last round. I would suggest the stiif flex to anyone with a relatively fast swing speed. Also I've read many comments about how loud this driver is, and while I admit it isn't the quietest driver I've heard, I actually think it sounds really good, people know when you've hit one. Not nearly as loud as the Callaway X460 I thought...

Solid Driver. Easy to hit and control. Distance is on par and in alot of cases better than anything else I've hit lately. I get a high boring ball flight but beware of the tiny sweet spot. Mis hits will result in a significant loss in yards. Give it a try, it sets up beautifully though.
