Holy Moly YALL! Here's the deal. I have been playing for 4 years and with no instruction whatsoever. I now shoot in the mid 80's...well I did until this weekend. I have always had a fairly good shortgame but I never could do well off the tee. After going through a ton of drivers and what advice other friends gave me I finally decided to get fitted for a driver. For $60 I could get fitted using the launch monitor. I caughed it up and said lets do this. After hitting about 100 balls he told me exactly what I needed. He said that I was absolutely crushing the ball with a ball speed of 160+ mph, a club speed of 126 mph., and what was hurting me was the flex and kick point of the clubs that I had purchased. I had a stiff shafts in all my clubs and mid to high kick points and what was happening is that I am putting so much spin on the ball that it would only go so far and drop out of the sky. My rpm's on the ball were around 4700. I NEVER KNEW THAT! After trying several clubs he told me to get a Ping G5 with an Aldila nv-65 X FLEX. I thought x-flexes were for the true PRO'S...not me. I played three rounds of golf this weekend at a course I play about 3 times a month. My drives were straight and LONG. I drove PAST 3 greens that were 340+ yards long (yes, they were downhill)that I had never even come close to before. I figured the first round would be good no matter what because most people do well when their confidence is high and they have just shelled out some money for a club. But it didnt stop there...

Let me just say...it is almost impossible to mis-hit this club. You may push or pull your drive but it is not the clubs fault. I paid $140 for this club on ebay almost brand spanking new and it is the best investment I have made yet besides my clone of the Ping Doc 17 putter.

My only advice is that instead of shelling out $400 to try something you THINK might work just go get fitted. IT IS THAT EASY!

About 3 months ago I traded in my Ping G2 9.5 for a Cobra M Speed Offset 10.5. I regret the day I did it, because I took a step backwards. I went to the golf shop today with the intention of buying a Cleveland Hibore. They told me to take a demo Hibore to the range and also the Ping G5. Both clubs are 10.5 regular shafts. On the range I tried to persuade myself that I wanted the Hibore. I consistently hit the Ping G5 straighter and longer than the Hibore and my M Speed and the ball exploded off the face of the G5.

Even though I have not played a round with it I feel extremely satisfied with the G5. I am returning tomorrow to dump the M Speed and buy the G5.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 10.5 Graffalloy Prolaunch Regular

Was looking a higher launch angle than I was achieving with my current driver so the Ping G5 10.5 with a Graffalloy Prolaunch shaft with it's low kick point fitted the bill .... to put it simply this driver is long enough there may be longer drivers out there but it so forgiving and with the low torque of the Graffalloy Prolauch shaft the dispersion of the shots is tight ... i.e. you really have to put a bad swing on it to miss the fairway .... Played two rounds so far with this club so far and I am very happy with my purchase having only missed one fairway in my last round .... tried everything out there Taylormade R425 & R460 just didn't like the stock shaft and there were no other options so that wasn't an option....the Mizuno MX500 was closest to the Ping and was nice but the mis-hits were more common and the resulting shots were more severly punished so in the end the Ping was easilly the best combination of distance and forgiveness for my swing

The last review is beyond RETARDED.He gives a bad review because he chose a loft that was to high.
How about next time you post a review that you have the right loft and shaft and then have something to bring to the table.Your review is like me complaining that my new pants I bought suck because I bought them to big. They fall to my knees when I stand up and now I will buy a pair that fits to see how it goes from there.

Model Reviewed: Ping G5 10.5 Graffalloy Prolaunch Stiff

tested out quite a few drivers in my local golf store. It was a throw up between the G5 and R7 460 as to which was best but the Ping was cheaper so I went for it. Have had it out on course a few times now and think this is a good driver but the 10.5 loft gets the ball too high up in the air for me and I am loosing distance. My playing partner with a G2 8.5 stiff was out driving me by 30 yrds. I have now ordered the G5 in a 9.5 and will review that when I get it.

Ping really does make the best driver there is. I've been through the best driver in the game (Taylor made R7), which didn't really work for me, I couldnt get the weights set up, and even took it to a professional and tried to have him ajust it for me, still didn't work. Then after all this I decided to just trade it in for this Ping G5 driver, and it was wonderful 300 yard drives straight down the fairway and even if the swing wasn't perfect there was always forgiveness in the club. Overall the best driver in the game.

Customer Service

Havn't really had any times when customer service was needed. I've heard that it is exceptional though

Scary club. First time I used it, I was amazed. My previous driver was a Wilson Deep Red, which I felt that I hit pretty well, although I always had to hold back a little bit. If I tried to crush the ball, I would impart too much sidespin and wind up with a slice.

The Ping G5 was amazing in that I could hit it as hard as I could swing, and the club would put no sidespin on the ball. If I struck it well, it was dead in the center of the fairway. If I hit it off the toe, as I do when I really try to unleash on it, it was still in the fairway, just off to one side.

After the round, I was grinning ear to ear. Amazing technology.

I'm known on the course as "straight C" because of God given ability to stripe the fairway and doing so with a nice draw at the tail end with what I consider somewhat above average length off the tee. Average drives for me typically are 250-275 and an occasional nutted drive will reach 300+ with proper conditions. Then comes along birthday 40 and soomeone finally gets me what I've dreamed of for years...a new driver. First run this morning at 6am which is my usual tee time, conditions with penty of dew and little roll, and what do I find? I find myself in places on the course off the tee I've never been before...LONG. I'm saying to myself "straight C on steroids" because this driver is exceptional. I had a stock TFC shaft on this originally and promptly traded it in for the PLB 65 stiff which I have previously been fitted for with PING on another driver and this combo at least for me(ss 105 average, 13 degrees launch, ball speed 138-145) is perfect. Long and straight is the best I can do to describe this driver, and for drivers, what mroe can one ask for? Save your money, your time, your anticipation for next year, etc., because nothing compares to this driver and I have played them all believe me. Get fitted, that is also key. No company does it better than PING.

Customer Service

exceptional, have used for my S59 irons in the past and they are as professional as it gets. There is a reason why this business is #1 in the world.

I was having trouble with my custom fitted KZG driver so I tried the Ping G5 and the results were great. I hit the ball longer, straighter and was able to work the ball with no problem. I have the standard regular shaft because I hit the ball low and my launch angle with this club was 14*.
