TaylorMade R5 Dual N Drivers

TaylorMade R5 Dual N Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The r5 dual features widely spaced, dual TaylorMade Launch control (TLC) cartridges that are pre-configured and permanent. This positions the weight ideally so you don't have to. With Launch Control promoting an extremely high MOI (moment of inertia) and proper clubhead rotation, the r5 dual Type N delivers remarkable forgivness and a straight ball flight while the r5 dual Type D provides a draw. Meanwhile, the exceptionally large 450cc titanium clubhead not only looks substantial at address, but it also gives you solid contact, consistently straighter shots and of course, confidence. And with TaylorMade's revolutionary inverted Cone Technology, the expanded COR of the r5 results in higher ball velocity on off center hits for longer, more consistent drives.

Switched to the R580 last year after getting frustrated with Nike Drivers. Decided to give the R5 a shot and purchased the Neutral driver, with an upgraded shaft. I was maxed out distance wise with the 580, and just could not believe the difference the R5 brought to my game. I went from drives around 270-290, to drives well beyond 300. In one round alone I reached 5 greense, from the blue tee box. I highly recommend the Taylor Made R5 to anyone looking to add serious distance.

Outstanding long easy hitting driver. I was using the TM 540xd, and upgraded to the R5. At 54 years old I am hitting this driver consitantly 250 yards plus. This one has the 10.5 degree with the TM standard graphite shaft that for me works great. Very good ball flight and long distance. The two things I am after. My ball is a Maxfli A3, sometimes Titleist V1 although I don't think I swing fast enough for the Titleist. All I can say is this driver is easy to hit and goes a long way. I choose the "N" because I am always fighting a hook and most drivers are designed for slicers. Now I am hitting a nice high cut. These TM drivers are expensive and I know there are better values out there. I just get consistant results on my Fairway's Hit stat with the Taylor Made.

brand new for 299.00 what a deal. forget the R7 R7TP and even the R5TP. have had all 3, R5TP had the diamana shaft in it. it felt very soft tipped to me didn't care much for it also the stiff flex, flexed out @ 256 that's a mid-regular NOT STIFF. the speeder flexes out @ 265 that's what it should be STIFF. I am actually crushing the ball with this stick along with my 17* CLK Mizuno don't need a 3 wood anymore. Ping G2, Cleveland Comp does not hold a candle to this stick.....................

The positive reviews on this model submitted by others are the real deal. I bought this with the stock regular flex shaft, and upgraded it with an Aldila 65 S. Boy, what a difference it made. It turned my friggin' banana balls into straight or draw lauches. Considering I don't have a relatively quick swing speed, it really goes out there. Of course, I had to convince myself to rotate and release through the ball (how many times have you heard that but not been able to discipline yourself?). That really made me see the potential flight pattern and distance. Do yourself a favor and grab one...it's a great bargain vs. the R7. You'll be happy that you did.

Been playing the 10.5* YS-6 stiff for about three months, (ss about 100mph). It'll carry further than anything I've tried, but not much roll. I don't like being out-driven by guys who land shorter than I do but then just scoot on by. And when I play on windy days, dare I say the B-word? Yes, unless I shorten my swing it will balloon on me. Sorry, TM, it's gotta go.

Had this driver for a while now with the stock stiff shaft. Was a great club but I got my swing measured and was told the stock shaft was only good to about 95mph, mine was about 105-110. Stuck a grafalloy blue stiff in it and whoa baby! This thing rocks. Wish I did it when I got it a year ago but even with the original shaft this was so good I didn't see the need to change. This driver now is unbelievably solid through impact. Can be worked both ways more easily (no more hooks when setting up for a fade) and fantastic feel and ball flight (high but penetrating). And long! I have heard mixed reviews about this shaft but I think the blue is only for strong players. If you have the strength to handle it, you won't use anything else. This combination of driver and head is a perfect fit for me and the results are hard to believe. No surprise TM has brought out a TP model for the better player, this driver is awesome. If you get one of these, get fitted with the right shaft and loft, especially if you have a high swing speed. It will be the best driver you ever hit.

The most impressive thing about this driver isn't how I hit it compared to my old driver...it's how my brother hits it compared to his. Playing Harding Park in SF, he borrows my R5 on a par 5 and crushes one about 310...compared to the 260 avg he'd been hitting with an older TM driver on the previous holes. OK, he's about a 6 hcap, but on successive holes he was just hitting the lights out. I'd switched from a Big Bertha 454 9° so the difference wasn't enormous...but my brother's driver was about 8 years old. Maybe that shows how far technology has come...as the year-on-year comparisons might not give us as good an idea. I hav a natural fade but chose to develop my swing rather than go with the draw head. vs. the 454 I'm probably 8 or 10 yards further down the short stuff...but I've got a lot of practicing to do. If you're wondering about this vs. the R7...only really low hcappers will see the difference. Save $200, go R5.

I am a college golfer and was searching for a new driver. I had played the Mizuno MP001 with the NVS shaft. I liked the feel of the driver, but the shaft was to week so I sold it. I tried the Titleist 905T ( hated the feel of the club) and the 983K (OK). Then the Ping G2 with a Speeder 757. Driver felt good, but i was dissapointed with the performance. I was at a tournament a few weeks ago and met the Taylor Made rep. who then gave the R5 N with a Speeder 757 for me to try. This driver is the best yet. Center hits are launched and miss hits are still good. I would definitely recommend this driver to players of all levels. I think it is very important to get fitted for a shaft since it really does make a difference. I cant wait to hit the TP.

Model Reviewed: R5 Dual N 10.5 Proforce V2

Purchased the R5 after hitting my brother-in-laws draw biased version. He is a terrible golfer and I could not beleive the places he was hitting the ball, 250 down the middle for this man was newfound territory for sure. I would definitely give this driver 5's all around, especially in the value category. I purchased the neutral model as my misses are duck hooks and blocks, but not slices. The neutral model sets up beautifully behind the ball and is very forgiving. First time I have tried a 10.5 degree driver and am pleased to say that the club produces a penetrating ball flight for me with added control. Originally purchased with the stock MAS-65 stiff shaft and had good results. Recently reshafted with the new Proforce V2 75 gram shaft and can honestly say this shaft lives up to the hype. Shot dispersion is unbelievable and IT IS LONG! I have gone from the 510 TP, to the 540XD TP, to this baby and in my opinion the feel in this retail version is just as solid as the TP's. Spoke to a local pro on this and he claims that the only difference in TP and retail is slightly higher center of gravity for the TP. Unless you are swinging 115 mph plus, you don't need it. As mentioned earlier I am getting a nice penetrating ball flight with the 10.5 and my driver swing speed is around 108. So before you shell out the money for a TP, do yourself a favor and test this retail model. In closing, this club is highly recommended and I have to believe that every golfer out there will have success with either the neutral or draw biased model.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made R5 Dual N Aldila NV-65 X-Stiff

I recently purchased the TM R5 Dual Neutral with X-Stiff Aldila NV-65 shaft. This my first time buying a brand new latest model driver. I had previously played with a Cleveland 330 Launcher and Taylor Made 540. Both were great clubs and were LONG, but I had a tendency to slice (been playing less than 3 years) and wanted something more forgiving. I looked at Cleveland 460 Launcher(probably would have bought 460 Comp if Left-handed model was available at the time), Ping G2, Callaway Big Bertha 454, and a couple different Cobra models before deciding on the R5 Dual. To say I'm ecstatic about my decision would be an understatement. The club is very long and very forgiving. My slice is a thing of the past and I just keep hitting fairway after fairway. I played yesterday and drove a 333 Par 4, a 316 yard par 4, and was about 25 yards short on a 376 yard par 4. I don't want you to think the club is "magic", I drove these same holes with my 330 Launcer and TM 540(I'm 6'5" and a lean 250), but my accuracy is way up. I used to be more feast or famine with the driver, now I'm very consistent. By the way, I purchased it at the The Golf Warehouse (TGW.com) for $254. This price included the upgraded Aldila NV-65 X-Stiff shaft($87.50 if bought separately), shaft length customized to + one inch, and postage and handling. TGW was running a 15 percent discount at the time on all Taylor Made products, but even at the normal $299, I would have been elated after experiencing the performance. A friend bought the exact same model except right-handed and has increased his carry distance 30 yards and recently shot back-to-back scores in the 70's for the first time.
