This is a follow-up to my June 13th review. I still love the club. I am hitting this driver with more and more confidence the longer I keep it. I am finding the club to be long enough, although I think my Cobra SS350 had more potential length. By that I mean the Cobra could go longer when swung hard. The R5 (at least with the OEM stiff shaft) averages about 240 for me, with enough 260 yard drives to keep me happy, but has a tendency to pull-hook pretty badly when I try for extra yards. The answer, of course - hit the club at 85% and be happy with 250 yards down the middle. The bottom line on this club: I feel confident using this driver on tight fairways. The natural shot shape is dead straight. It is forgiving off the toe, and has a feeling of effortless distance when swung smoothly. Please demo this club when looking at drivers. Customer Service Never needed. Similar Products Used: Big Bertha 454 (slice, slice). Cobra SS350 (longer overall, but not as consistent). Cobra Gravity-Back (nice club, but outdated). |

I have owned this beast for one month now. I was searching for a forgiving driver that could give me distance from my slow swing(78 mph) i demoed the g5, very good too expensoev and bb454 very very long not very accurate. My pro suggested the r5, n. This driver really performs for me. The face is incredibly responsive yet forgiving. The stock shaft is really stable, no matter how hard you swing. My fade is now a straight flight. I have gained maybey 5 yards, but now hit 80-90% of fairways. i average 210 with this driver now. The best thing is the forgivness! Shots from toe or heel will still fly straight! inconclusion: VERY LONG! VERY VERY FORGIVING and ACCURATE! Customer Service no experience Similar Products Used: Ping g2(close but too dear) bb454, cobra 454 comp, nike ignite, and launcher 460. |

Picked this up at AZ Golf Exchange for a great price, came with stock MAS-65 S flex. This driver is a beast. I was concerned the stock shaft would not preform, but this thing goes long and straight and really long, and did I mention... LONG!!?? :-) Really, a pleasure to hit, tee it up high, smooth 85% swing, **POW!!!* Must just be a good mix for me, because this driver is really easy to hit straight, and I am usually in the mid to high 70's... great sound at impact also. The 9.5* loft seems to be just right. I feel that this is the best driver I have ever hit, a close second is the Cleveland Comp 460, which is just as long and maybe a scootch longer, but the r5 is straighter and more consistent by a good margin. I tried the r7, but it had a S flex Speeder 757 in it, just a bit too stiff, so I can't give a fair comparison. The rest, and I have hit almost everything, the r5 blows away. TaylorMade R5 Type N
I felt compelled to write this review as this is an excellent driver. I have it now for three months and each week I find the results are better. It is fitted with an NV 65S shaft and I think it is an excellent combination. The flight is good and the forgiveness is excellent. Distance wise it is longer than other drivers I have used as I am seeing new parts of my home course, from the short grass which is particularly nice. The distance gain for me is about 10-15 yards on a well hit ball over the G2 which is great as it is a club less into the greens. The main reason to buy this driver though is accuracy as that is the most important part for me. Finally, I play with forged clubs and I particularly like the soft feel of a well hit ball with this head / shaft combination. I have been playing the R7 Quad for the last 2 years which is also a great club but very unforgiving and distance seemed to be a little on the short side. I purchased the R5 with a Speeder 757 shaft, the same shaft I had in the R7 and this club is what I was looking for. Ball flight for me was about the same but with the R5 if you catch it on the toe or heel a liitle bit no worries distance and direction loss is minimal. It might just be me but this thing seems about 20 yards longer than the R7. This club will be in my bag for a long time. Frequent reader, first time reviewer. The R5 type N with upgraded Fujikura 757 speeder impressed me enough to write. Great feel, hot, piercing trajectory and long. I had a hard time finding the very first drive I hit with this club becasue it was 15 yards further than I thought to look. Played my first round with this club with long time golfing buddy who has seen me hit too many drivers to mention. He agreed this was the longest hitting with ideal trajectory. This one is in the bag for a long time. Customer Service haven't needed Similar Products Used: Cobra 427 and 400sz tour, cleveland 460, SMT 455, Mizuno MP-001, snake eyes 600T |

I am an Assistant Golf Professional at a local course. I have played with and tried many different drivers. I had a Ben Hogan C23 Driver before switching to the TaylorMade. There were 2 main reasons i switched to the TaylorMade. With the R5 I raised my driving average by 10 yards and my accuracy was increase drastically. The Taylor Made R5 Dual is a great driver for people of all handicaps and levels. Similar Products Used: Ben Hogan C23 Ping G5 Ping G2 Mizuno MP-001 |

TaylorMade R5 Driver (Neutral)
First, I have to admit I find all these reviews written by golfers who shoot in the 90's and "routinely" hit 290-300 yard drives quite remarkable. How do they shoot in the 90's? Do they 4-putt every green?. I am a 16 handicapper and a good drive for me is around 250 yards. I had trouble finding this driver in a neutral bias with a regular shaft, they were all stiff which made me try to hit the ball too hard. I switched out the shaft for a Proforce 65 Gold regular flex and the difference was enormous. This club is a little longer than my old TM 360 (same shaft), but MUCH more forgiving. Unlike really good golfers, my clubface rarely makes contact with the ball in the same place twice, but you wouldn't know it with this driver. I highly recommend it. I just hate the tinny sound compared to the 360. Customer Service Never had to contact them. Similar Products Used: TaylorMade 360. |

Taylor Made r5 Type N 10.5*
I'm an average golfer who needed a better and newer driver. I was switching over from an Adams Tight Lies GT Titanium 10*, and decided to buy the r5 type N after researching and debating weather to go r5 or r7. The day I recieved the driver, I immediatly went to a local driving range to test it. My first shot, I decided to take it easy and not try to kill the ball. When I hit the ball it felt like I hit nothing, the ball rocketed off of the clubface and flew AT LEAST 270 yards straight as an arrow down my target line with a nice high trajectory. What was shocking was that the shot was hit on the left side of the clubface and not dead center (even though it felt like it). I'm 16 years old and never hit a driver that is so forgiving and that required so little effort to make the ball soar. This club was a definate steal because I picked it up for $175 BRAND NEW. I totally recommend this for anyone looking for a huge penetrating ball flight, and one of the most forgiving clubs out there on the market. I'm seriously glad I saved $200 and went r5 over r7. Customer Service Not used, and doubt I will have to. Similar Products Used: Calloway Biggest Big Bertha, Adams Tight Lies GT, PING G2 |

Taylormade R5 N
I have been using a 9.5 580 xd and have been pretty happy with it but I hit mountain high drives with alot of spin. This club goes straight for me but when I hit a 300 yarder that hit the green and spun back 5 feet I decided to try something new. I settled on a 8.5 R5 N with a fuji in it and I was surprised that I hit it even more straight and got the trajectory that I wanted. Great club. Similar Products Used: Everything new. Setup for me is the most important and the Taylormade drivers tend to look right at address. I hit some others longer though(Cleveland Comp) |
