Having intentions to upgrade from my I-302 Srixon driver I have tried out the more popular drivers including the recent releases - Titleist 905T, R7, R5 Dual, Cleveland Comp 460, Cobra 460, KZG Gemini and Ping G2. Although I came close to investing in the Cleveland I noticed that the R580 XD was on a Sale and people were literally cleaning out the shops. So I decided to Demo this one as well. The R580 XD with a Stiff, 9.5 - firm tip configuration was clearly out performing or equal to all the latest on offer. For half the price the R580 XD had an improvement on distance, the head being at 440cc is not too large and the standard TY shaft is as good as any on the market. (Cleveland Comp 460 stock standard Fujikura is very average for the very average player). This Driver is easier to hit than the R7 and perhaps equal to the R5 Dual but has a much better compact look at address. The Titlest 905T has a very hard face. It is made for the strong, precise hitter who can shape shots. The R580 has a good feel off the face, a sound that is not ear drum bursting and it is very workable, although it has a slighly closed face which should suite 80% of golfers out there. Highly recommend this driver if you can still get your hands on a new one.

WHOA!!! Are you kidding me? This driver is by far the best peice of golf equipment ever known to man (or woman). Before, I almsot always wanted to take out my 3 iron and whack it hard before using my driver, but with this thing I look like I have been playing for quite awhile. Never before did I think I would be one of the guys hitting it straight to the back net, 300 yards away. Get this driver. Period. The head is huge, giving everyone the confidence they need. Even my mis hits (most of my hits) go straight and far.

Lest just start by saying that this driver is a nice looking driver, i just bought it right before winter was over, once winter was over went to the range and this club can hit a ball i was easily hitting it 20 yrds further than my old driver that i got with my set of clubs. Had one problem though defect, was on the course hit the ball square driver head flew right off considering my driver wasn't more than a month old i sent it back to where i bought it and got a new one, now hopefully it doenst' happen again but im sure i was one of the unlucky few to get a defective driver great look big sweet spot using the stock mas stiff flex 9.5 degree loft i will post another review if the driver decides to break on me again :)

I got this driver for chirstmas 2004. Im 15 years old and havent had a good driver before this one. I had this junk one that came with this set i got a few years ago. Got a good deal on this club, $350 canadian at Golf Town. I tryed it out first in the simulater and hit it dead straight 250 yards. I thought that was amazing but i just got back from Myrtle Beach this March break and what happned to me was unbelievable. I hit the ball 300 yards fly into the wind every time at the range, and on the course I hit it 300+ yards. One par 5 i had a 360 yard drive and had a pitching wedge in (played from the mens tees). Anyways im a 10 handicap and this is my second year of actually playing alot. I got my first membership this year so hofully ill be putting the ball out over 300 consistantly by the end of the summer. Great driver I think. I tryed the dual R5, i think the only difference between the 500 series and the R5 and R7 is the R5 and R7 are better for high handycappers who need the help of the weights to straiten out there shots. If you can find a good price for the R580 XD (not the normal R580) GET IT! Great driver. By the way , i have the stock shaft, does anyone know how much better having a different shaft put in is? Thanks.

Just purchased the TM580XD with the HTD CB65.35O S shaft. Great shaft for my swing speed between 95-100. Was able to demo the R5, R7 to compare. The 580xd was very forgiving and long and solid. Have not hit the driver on the course yet. can't wait.

This driver is a fantastic club to have in the bag for scratch golfers or game improvers alike. With such a big club head the club has a giant sweetspot increasing the power greatly. Mine is the conforming version, it still strikes it great distances. Driving was the worst part of my game, now i am confident in it!

OK, like many of you lurking out there, my driver has been a struggling endeavor of my golf game. Sometimes hot, many times not. Truth? Truth is that it's mainly my swing and not the club. However, this inconsistency in my swing started me looking for a driver that can forgive a foolish man when he thinks he can swing better than he really can. I started with the Taylormade 510 (which was larger than the driver I was using). Nice, but game has to be on to use it well. Then I moved to the Great Big Bertha 380CC. Bigger head, pretty darn forgiving, great ball flight. Still not quite there...so in came the 580XD. All I could say was WOW!!!! The larger head (440cc I think) took a little getting used to, but once you get over it - watch out! When you hit it on the screws, the ball feels light as a feather. But when your swing is a bit off, it doesn't punish you severely, but loses just enough distance to make you concentrate harder on the next tee box. Is it a magic club? Definitly not. However, it is VERY forgiving, gives great ball flight (I'd classify as medium-high - 9.5 degree loft) and is beautifully crafted. I'll be keeping this in my bag for a while.

Model Reviewed: 580XD 10.5 with Harmon Tour Design CB65 shaft

Wow, what a club. Recevied my club last week and went to the driving range this past weekend. This is such a solid driver. The head is so hard, the ball just launches off like a bullet. Even with the wind into my face the ball just penerate throgh the wind and going and going. I only had seen this ball flight from the drive of my scratch golfer friends. I am so happy that I finally got the driver that I want. Never in my life that I had a driver would produce a ball flight like it. I am 5-10, 140 lbs. My average drive is about 240-250. With this club, I probably gain 20 yards. Before I buy it, I was worry about the head is too big. I read an artilce about the shaft and the club. I finally went for it. Here is link to the article - http://www.golftodaymagazine.com/0501jan/golfeqpt.htm. The harmon tour design shaft is a wonderful. It is low torque and give me a wonderful feedback. Even 10.5 degree, the ball flight is so pretty. It never went ballnoon on me. If you are on the market for a driver, you definite need to try the 580XD with the harmon tour design shaft. I am going to change my 580 3wood with the shaft. I can't wait for spring to come. Good luck

I have the 580xd 10.5 deg with purple ice shaft. Club sits closed at address which is a major problem for me. If you already have a draw, this club is not for you. Balls go very far though, farther than my r540. Club is forgiving, but I have to compensate too much for the heavy draw bias as to make it usable.

I have to agree with previous review. Ball flight is high, even with mid-high kick Aldila. However, shots go FAR. I have yet to try this beast into the wind. Probably use my SMT accuflex VS 339 on windy days as that thing shoots lasers. I would make sure you don't match a low kick shaft with too high a loft. Perfectly stuck balls with my combo went a long way. Also, this head produces a distinctive sound which is pleasing to me. This summer is gonna be a kick! Get one for cheap from 3Balls.com.
