Best club I've ever owned. I'm looking forward to shooting in the 80's. (possibly 70's) Only problem with this club is everyone I know wants to try it. Similar Products Used: WIlson, Cobra |

I originally started with Titleist DCI starship woods, and loved the feel of my driver. I felt though, that with my level of play where it was, I could be able to step up to the 975D driver, and easily drive over 275 yards. I was driving the ball around 260 with my starship driver. Boy was I wrong. I feel this club is a gimic. People don't realize that the pros use the Titleist 975D's because they are paid to by Titleist. I just thought that for the money, this driver was consistently short, and not very forgiving. I couldn't hit the fairway to save my life at times. I switched recently to the new Mizuno titanium forged driver, and really bang it. I mean 290 and its straight, which is amazing for me. If you want the length as well as the forgiveness, go with the forged mizuno. I have now discovered through friends that this Titleist is good if you are wanting to work the ball, not for distance and forgiveness. Looking for a new driver & debating between the Ping TISI or this club. First off, I can't understand how everyone in these posts (here & ping posts) hit the ball 300 yards and better. I play alot of golf and have probably played with a small handful that get the ball out there that far consistently. My swing speed for my driver is 118 - 120 mph which usually draws a crowd in the golf shops & I do not hit the ball 300 yards every shot. Anyway, after playing the Titleist 975 8.5* with ei70 stiff and the Ping TISI 7 * RUS on the course I am going with the Titleist because of Accuracy and Ball Flight. The ball flight starts low and draws nicely with a roll. I hit a really high ball & with the Ping RUS I was plugging in the fairways. For my swing, the Titleist actually went further than the Ping which I was very suprised. On the range it felt like the Ping was going at least 30 yards further. My 6.5 Great Big Bertha I currently own goes the furthest of all three but also strays much further on missed hits & has the real high ball flight like the Ping. The 8.5 975 has a much better ball flight even with more loft than the GBB. I think for the average player the Ping may be a better club, it seems to benefit an average swing speed by producing very long shots. It just seems to exxagerate greatly any of my swing faults, it goes far but when it goes left it goes far left and no roll. Similar Products Used: Ping TISI, Great Big Bertha |

The club has definately improved my game. It is alot stiffer than the Callaway Big Bertha and sounds much more solid. The ball does not go so high so it bounces alot longer. Similar Products Used: None |

I have a custom made 5.5 degree 975D and I hafta tell you its great although I experience a little ballooning effect even though I'm playin the 975 with a x100 shaft on it but other than that it's a great club. Customer Service Titleist customer service was great, I had hit the club to hard and it snapped at the Hosel during CIF individual qualifying and they helped me by rushing me one overnight after they recieved mine and put all my original specs on my club to the new one jsut in time for CIF. It is most likely the fact that I am improving my swing that I love this club. This past summer I started playing on a daily basis and apparently was really hitting over the top. As hard as I tried I just sliced and cut the crap out of all my shots. A couple of months ago my first driver purchase was a Hawkeye 10 degree on the advice of my new golf friends that it would be quite forgiving. And it was until I learned how to swing a golf club from INSIDE. Then here came the hooks with the Hawkeye while the rest of my clubs were fine, (962s). A great bargin was found on the 975D and almost immeaditly I fell in love with it. A thousand times more solid than the Hawkeye and the Ping. Just the feeling I get is such a confidence builder that I can't get enough. However, I only recomend this club to the golfer serious about his swing and understanding how your swing works and effects ball flight. Five stars, baby! Customer Service First bought a s300 shaft in the 975d only to return back to the store because it was several inches shorter than other drivers. One phone call to Titleist from the store and they o.k.ed GIVING me the pro gold 65 10.5 degree 975d driver at the store for NO extra charge. What a deal! Regular price of 500 bucks a little stiff but I would've spent it anyway. Similar Products Used: Callaway Hawkeye 10 degree, Ping, and several Big Bertha knock offs. Also Mizuno driver and Steelhead. |

I have heard many players say that the 975D is not very forgiving. I respectfully disagree. I found this driver to be one of the most consistent clubs I've ever hit in terms of distance and forgiveness. The 975D didn't give me more distance than my previous driver (Lynx Black Cat Ti), but I was getting the same distance more often. I have switched over to a TiSI and get about 20-25 yards more on my drives. Contrary to what one reviewer claimed, I don't "regularly" hit my drives over 300, although I have once or twice with the Ping (never with the Titleist). If you can't afford the Ping, go with the Titleist. With a little bit of luck you can purchase a used one for under $300. No matter how hard I try...I cannot get this bugger of a club to "draw" in flight. I have changesd the shaft four times to allow a bit of right to left and even added weight to the heel of the club. Buggered if I can draw it though, it's my natural shape too! Similar Products Used: Hawk Eye, ERC, TM 300Ti, TM320 TI (Good clubs) |
