Titleist 975J Drivers

Titleist 975J Drivers

DESCRIPTION

A new 300cc Prototype Driver... the 975J has been seen in many Tour bags early in '01. Very similar look to its wildly popular predecessor the 975D. Just slightly larger and with a different look to the face... scoreing lines are placed in an "insert" look a'la the Callaway GBB. ~CB

i purchased this driver for $100 at Nevada Bob's. I bought the Stiff flex and 10.5 degree head. Took it to the course today for the first time and this club produced dead straight shots. The problem is that it launches so I high that all my drives ballooned. I was lucky to get 230 total yards and I am use to 260-290 total. The stock shaft is just not a true stiff. Great head though...if you can upgrade the shaft it would well be worth your while or if you swing slower, give the stiff a try before you go with the regular. All in all a solid driver but not for the higher swing speeds.

Customer Service

excellent, was on hold for 2 minutes and then I guy came on and could answer any technical question I asked...lifetime warranty doesn't hurt either

Currently own the 905S with Graffalloy blue shaft with stiff flex, which is a good diver, accurate, but not nearly as long as some of the other drivers I've hit. So one day while in the local Golf Galaxy, demoing drivers on the launch monitor I could'nt find a drive / shaft combination to give me the launch readings I wanted. I hit these super sized 460 cc drivers too high! So for the heck of it I went to the used club rack and pulled a 7.5 degree 975J with a Graffalloy Prolite stiff shaft. Whoaaa Mama!! Was all I could say after the first swing! Now I'm a long hitter that generates 115 mph clubhead speed on normal driver swings, and 975J was giving a launch angle of 13-14 degrees with 3,500 rpm spin rate. I was carrying the ball 285-290 and rolling out to 310-315 with this club as opposed to 265 of carry with the 905S! So as a crowd started to gather watching me hit 320 yard drives, the repeated question from the "gallery" was "which driver is that"? When I show them that it's the old 975J, they can't believe it! The 975J is only a 312cc head driver with a super-hot face and it feels more solid than the newer Titleist, with better feel and sound off the face! How did this driver get by me in the past? I don't know, but I bought it for $70 bucks and it's in my bag. The first time with it on the course and the launch monitor results were confirmed. I was hitting nearly every drive 300+ yards, with two over 330! What a driver!! I love it! Get one, or two, before they become extinct, you won't regret it! Titleist needs to revisit this design, bigger is not necessarily better.

i am 14 years old and have been playing 2 years. i average 315 yards of the tee
and occasionaly when i swing at faster speeds i can hit well over 350 yards. but since switching to the ping g5 i can only hit 150 yards if i catch it right with wind behind. my accurecy has improved dramatically though. so i am extremely pleased with the purchase.

I'de give it a 3.5 out of 5. I don't care for the tietlest grips, the cords show right through the rubber & are almost smoothe. As far as distance it's about the same as the rest... if you get it clean. I hit probabley 8/9 clean w/ my powerbilt but miss a few w/ this club for whatever reason. If your a good ball striker & looking for something NOT oversized this may be a good option for you.

I bought this for $165 second hand and my first 3 competitions with it i finished 1st 6th and 3rd. i average about 250yards but cold weather in Ireland decreases yardage by 10% from America. Played Bethpage in the summer and i hit it 320! Needless to say i still made a solid three putt bogey! It can go awol on you but an anyway decent golf swing will send you long and straight.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 975J 9.5 degrees with Penley stiff shaft

I had been using a Callaway 454 10* driver and was terribly inaccurate with it. I could not consistently square up the large clubhead, resulting in many balls to the right and way too high with little roll. I tried some smaller headed drivers and I found that I could control them better. When I tried the Titleist, my shots are more boring and roll more. I have used it only two rounds and am pleased with its distance and accuracy. Although it is smaller than the Cally, I find it forgiving enough and my miss hits still are out there 225-235 yds. My SS is 100-102 with a quick tempo, so the Penley Graphite shaft, stiff flex complements me well. My playing partner noticed the difference too. The ball appears to explode off the face and is out there on a line so much quicker. It may be a club that has been around awhile but it works for me. Picked my up on ebay for $50 bucks and am very pleased, the search is over.

I purchased this club on Ebay for less than $50.00 (got it brand new after seller forgot he didn't have any more used models), after trying a friend's driver one day. I already had a TaylorMade R5 that I had bought two months prior. I figured I may need a backup. I took this club to the course last week and all I can say is "Do you know anyone looking for a TM R5"? The Titleist 975J is one of the best clubs I have ever hit. It outdistance my R5 by 20-30 yards (this by comparison after hitting both clubs on the same hole for 1/2 a round). This club is easy to get airborne, even at 8.5 degrees of loft. The ball also seems to run forever. It is also a pretty forgiving driver. Mis-hits still go 240-250 yds. The club head is not huge, but still promotes a lot of confidence at set-up. My club has the stock EI-70 stiff shaft, which seems to fit my swing fine. It promotes a penetrating ball flight and is easy to work both ways (draw/fade). It is easily the best driver that I've ever hit and I'm a huge TaylorMade fan. I can see this club being used by golfers of all levels, not just folks who shoot in the 70s or low 80s. Do yourself a favor and get one of these clubs quick.

Just got a couple of these off ebay, now that they're under $100. I figured why not let the guys willing to shell out $400+ for a club do so and in the process allow me to get a perfectly good club like this for a song. Anyway, I love this club. It's precise, workable, and extremely long if you hit it right. As with blades, if you have a sound swing, this is the club for you. A beauty to have in the bag, especially for the cost these days.

Model Reviewed: Titliest 975J

I was just recently on a holliday with my mom in Mesa Arizona. I was in a golf shop and was looking in the used club area when all of asudden I came upon a Titliest 975J Going for 100.00$ that also had a cover. i couldn't let this oppurtunity go to waste. And let me tell you that was the best idea I ever had. This Driver kicks the crap out of My TM 580. It not only is going a good ten yards further but it also is 100x straighter. And accuracy is something that most golfers have trouble with. THIS DRIVER IS AMAZING From 285 yards to at least 295. If you haven't got the 975J what are you waiting for. On the first hit with this club it went 300 yards not bad for a 15 year old! hey! The Only regret i have is that is that I didn't get a Aldila NV65 shaft put in while I was in the store.
