Two Versions
Short Version
WOW, Longer and Straighter then any others I have hit. And I hit them all(unlike some posters on here).

Long Verion

Well, Here goes, My clubs got stolen from my van and I had a cheque in my hand for a full set of clubs. Money was no object buying clubs, unlike the last time(searching fo sales). I hit all of the name brands into nets and a Video Simulator. 975d felt nice but a bit off, Deep Red felt great but not as far in sim as 320j, TiSI too big too light, Super steel too heavy(for a driver anyway, my 3 and 5 wood purchase), Taylormade 360 way too big, Orlimar too gimike, ERC2 too illlegal not enough distance into the sim, ERC too heavy not long enough. I think thats all of them, Here are what sim distances i have.
ERC2(illegal) carry 250
Deep red carry 265
320j carry 270
975D carry 260
orlimar carry 260
erc(legal) carry 250
So I bought the 320j, It didn't feel as nice as the Deep red, but it carried further and that grip, wow what a grip, that soft Winn, outstanding. I went out to the range and I was very disapointed. I was slicing everything, I couldn't correct, Turned my hands under, changed my swing plane, slowed my tempo, sped it up, opend my stance, closed my stance, move the ball up moved the ball back. Out of about 100 balls, about 10 went straight and out of those 10 about 5 really zinged, they rolled to the 300 yard marker. The 320 j also sounded like some was kicking a tin garbage can on every hit. Maybe if it was full of foam it would sound better. Anyways, I was not impressed, I took it back to the store and hit them all again, this time into a net so not to be swayed by video game distance. The Deep Red felt the best. So I traded the 320j for a deep red and a cleveland lob wedge(the rusty one, matched, my 56 sand wedge) Anyways, I drove immediatly to the range, My first hit carried right off the range with a perfect draw and a nice boaring trajectory. I though, wow, maybe it was a fluke, one word NOPE. Ball after ball I knocked them off of the range. The range came over to me and said wow nice drives, could you please stop hitting them off of my range. I smiled and said, "Sure np, I'll just hit my new lob wedge."
The next day I went to the range again (a different one, same one I went to originally with the 320j)
I then proceed to carry the Deep Red Deep, How Deep, I was carryin the balls at least 10 - 20 yards past the 300 yard marker(from the same mat on the range as I was on with the 320j) Needless to say my experience with the 320j is not as great as some of the others on here. But my Deep Red story seems to be the same as everyones, Deep and Straight, I now forgive wilson for discontinuing the Wilson Staff Red Dots.

Customer Service

None as of yet, but their is a paint chip on the back heel side, i may call about hat, I'll have to see if it resists rust/corrosion

Bought 9.0 - stiff, This club will not fix anyones game (no club will) but it will make it more enjoyable. I've hit several drivers and they are all good, however the WDR is the most forgiving driver by far. No real slices just a fade, it's tough to draw. Just play your second shot from the right side of the FAIRWAY. Distance may a few yards more then my old Steelhead Plus. This club just makes you feel more confident at address. Spend $300 and hit more fairways. P.S. - if you hit reg shaft in your clubs, try a stiff in this one.

I`ve been playing with this driver for about a month now. It arrived about 24hrs before a society day, I shot my lowest score ever and took 4th prize !
I`ve have gained about 40 or 50 yds with this club and It gives me total confidence when I`m standing on the tee.
Deep Red also looks great and feels very well made ( Unlike my Hippo Giant which snapped at the hosel after 6 holes ).
Try it before you buy anything else, you never know, you may just like it !

I am a trained club fitter and repairer, and all drivers that i have tried in the past have had various different shaft and swingweight variations to them to make them work better, but not the Deep Red, only changed the grip to match my other clubs
I've a swing speed of 102 mph, and at first the shaft felt more like a Reg. shaft but works OK for me. My drives carry about 240 in to a strong wind without too much ballooning, which is 5-10 yards behind my Titliest 975D 8.5 Degree but so much more consistent.Downwind aprox the same distances are achieved. the feel off the face is fantastic. best Driver for me

First, I'm 58 years old and not a very good golfer. But, this is the best driver I have ever used. I'm hitting the further and straighter.

I use the Natural Golf swing so I changed the grip to a Winn 7715. Also, I have very weak wrist so I have trouble controlling a driver. Not the Big Red, due to its lightness the club head does not twist.

I've played 5 rounds with the Big Red and shot my first round under 100 in ten years on the 4th of July.

It's a little pricey, but who cares!

I have spent weeks agonising over drivers – I have tried the Adams ST reg, the Taylor Made 300/20/60, the Ping and of course the Deep Red. In fact I was on the point of ordering the TM R320 9.5 with the S90 shaft which is illegal in the USA but OK here in the UK. The price differential between the WDR and the R320 was £120 over $150…. I had a last minute change of heart – why? Well I realised that when testing the clubs I had so much wanted to like and hit the 320 well, that I had over looked the fact that in my last practice session with them both, the Deep Red that had been more consistent and forgiving.

I had hit the first two shots with the 320 straight and long but after the professional wandered over to see how I was getting on, I must have hit another ten to fifteen shots with the 320 with only two or three of acceptable quality (most of the rest were pulled or ballooned). During this period I also hit four balls with the Deep Red three with his stiff 9 degree and one with a regular 10.5. All were straight with one daisy cutter, one which fell short and two which were excellent – maybe a tad shorter then the best 320 drive but right out there over 250 yds.

What is the moral of this story? Well it is so easy to make a decision with your heart and not your head. In the seven holes I played last weekend with the Deep Red 10.5 Reg I missed two fairways, pushing the ball out onto the adjacent fairway, both were long but right. I hit three super drives over 250 yds all a little right but well onto the fairway and two duffers which never got up but we still 200 odd yards and an the fairway. Not bad for a first outing… In the end I am ordering the 10.5 degree stiff which should sort out the tendency to push it right. Still love the 320 but in the end I need maximum forgiveness and consistency – the design of the Deep Red gives this – I hope!!

Most reliable 'safe' driver I have tried. Yes hits ball high, but doesn't appear to be affected by wind. Probably 20yds extra over old Burner. Off centre hits do really seem to 'work their way back' to the centre of the fairway - like I said FORGIVING.
Looks the business, once you get used to the look of the fatshaft.
I disagree with comments about needing the stiff shaft - I tried them all and the regular is firm enough to control (unless you swing like a pro), whilst helping.

A very good driver. I demo'd one this weekend, went straight to the course, and proceeded to hit some very nice drives with it. I still managed to get a little wild on a couple of holes, but overall much better than my old GBB. Wilson has got a very good club here, but not quite as good as the orlimar hipti!

Model Reviewed: Wilson Deep Red 9* Stiff

For a long time I have been struggling with distance off the tee. With the Deep Red I have found the confidence that I need to stand on the tee and really swing the club. A long drive for me used to be 250 - 260. Now I look forward to the 290+ yard drives that have become the norm with the Deep Red. Wilson has done the right thing here, and I encourage all who have not tried it to give it the test that I did. Before buying I went out to the range with my Deep Red and a TM 360 8* stiff 90. Try this same test and you'll make the same decision I did.
Even with an 8* TM I was hitting the ball HIGH and pushing the ball way out to the right. On my looser and harder swings with the Deep Red I was still moving the ball a little far out to the right but this club made it easy to bring the ball flight under control quickly. I am a 10 handicap with a good swing at around the 100 mark. I'm thinking that this club would be good for anyone with the exception of those with a much faster than average swing. It is definitely ideal for me.

What a club!!
