This club smokes!!! After tinkering for half an hour at the range and getting used to the onset. I was hitting them longgg and straight. Trajectory is medium and bores through the air. Deadly accurate. Hitting Par 5's from 250+ yards is no problem. These fly well from the worst of lies and very forgiving. Best 3 wood I have every hit. I'm going to get the matching 17* 5 wood and huck my 2 iron.

I'd played so far with a couple of Japanese/US models for fairway woods, including the popular Cleveland. My expectation was not really high when I tried out the new Ping at the range, especially when my right elbow was hurting from too much tennis.
Since this club is of the standard config., the setup is looks very good with no close/offset face. The balance between shalf/head feel good too.
But nothing can really describe how the ball bounce off the club face. It really "Ping" the ball in strong boring trajectory. The first strike left me in awe. I hit about 25 balls, since my hand is still hurting, and almost all is a killer shot. I quickly switch to my other fairway woods, thinking my swing has suddenly become good, but the result is not as impressive. I go back to I3, and again the ball just fly. Those with a slight draw looks really pro!
I spend $$$ tweaking with too many heads/shafts...too much. I'm now calculating how much of these I3 I could have gotten instead...
This outperforms anything I'd tried. I'm almost certain to get the driver...let's see.

Model Reviewed: i3 14* & 17* flat

After reading all the reviews at this site, I decided to check out what the i3 fairway woods were all about. WOW. These things make mt old Callaway BB woods seem like chop sticks. The clubhead is so compact and heavy that it just rips through the ball. Even with flat set-up I seem to hit draws alot which is fine. Very long and forgiving woods. I heard Ping is launching a i3 driver real soon.

These are guns! The 12* is easier to hit than most 3, 4 or 5 woods and driver distance from fairway. The 20* is long and high. In fact the 20* is more like my previous 14*s-17*s. Still trying to measure relative distances. Advise thorough range testing to determine which will fit between your driver and longest iron.

Tried this, after someone stole my TI bubble 2s. From the first hit, I could tell the difference. Previously, I fought a slice, with the i3s I have a draw. Ping has a winner. Will be purchasing the 3 wood soon.

All I can say is "Thanks, to the low life that stole my clubs"

Sweeetttt! What else can I say? These are perfectly weighted(what feel!), very forgiving, and easy to work. You want to hit it straight, draw, fade....no problem. Using my 5-wood, I had a 210 yd shot to the green, water all along the left to the back of the green. I aimed for the right edge of the green, adjusted my stance for a draw...nice easy swing and I'm putting for birdie from 12 ft. Swwweeetttt!! These will be the last woods I buy for a long time!

I have the 7 and 3 wood in this line. they are the first woods I bought after upgrading from the "department store" set I purchased in my first set. I love these clubs--the 7 wood is more like a 5 (20* loft) and the 3 wood hits almost as far as my 10* Steelhead+. Overall, I like these better than any other wood on the market--I hit them well the first time I took them to the driving range. They seemed dialed in from the get go. If they made a 10* drive in this line I would have bought that one instead of the Steelhead+...alas, I don't like titanium clubs (too much $$$). So, Ping, if you're reading this, make a drive in this line!

I did have one little problem--the shaft broke on my first 7 wood. Thankfully, the club is guaranteed by Ping and I was given a replacement free of charge. I am hoping not to have anymore shaft problems...

The Ping I3's are a great set of fairway woods. Mine are graphite shafts, regular flex standard fit. I was custom fit for these by my local pro. I hit these the best of any of woods I have tried to date. They are the straightest Fairway woods I have used. I hit the 3 wood between 210 to 230 yards and the 5 wood between 190 to 200 yards with my 94mph average swing speed. I replace Adams Tight Lies 2 with these Pings during the first 30 days of having the Adams the Adams had a much more shallow face and did not work for me a consistent as the Ping. The Ping has a taller and shorter face. Standard shafts are working very well on this set.

Have heard a few people say that the stock Ping i3 shaft is underpar and too whippy, i must strongly disagree with this comment.

Today i had the shaft frequency tested, swingweighted etc and would put the shaft closest to the TT EI-70, i am sure some will disagree but both shafts CURRENTLY TESTED in Regular have roughly the same kickpoints and a low torque of 3.4 and 3.5 respectively.

DO NOT underestimate the quality of the stock shaft, I have a reg shaft with a SS of 91mph ave, & combined with v low torque gives tremendous power & kick.

Faster swingers might prefer the Grafalloy prolight 3.5, however even the Reg flex came out a fair degree stiffer than the other 2.

Final NOTE: DONT BE MACHO get the shaft that suits you, not the stiffest. This club rocks!!!!! and will stay in my bag for a long time, the 12* is ideal loft.

The only 2 clubs you need in your bag, ideal from any lie or off the tee. Youll be amazed how far the 12* goes and youll be wishing your driver went as far. I have Reg flex graphite, perfect for swing speeds upto95mph, unless you have this macho infatuation on stiffer is better, just try them!!!!
