This club has too much offset and is clanky feeling when mis-hit a fraction. The trajectory is decent but the feel is horrible.

These are simply great clubs - for many different skill levels. Very traditional club face with a clean line while addressing the ball. Perhaps best of all, these clubs offer a tremendous value. You should be able to find these clubs in graphite for between $300 - $400 brand new. There is a reason these clubs have been around for such a long time, they are simply good clubs.

Very neutral club. Forgiving yet still able to work the ball. Excellent value for a classic design. Oversized but not too oversized.

Not the prettiest irons out there, but using them you can understand why they still sell. They have compact heads that still seem easy to hit consistantly. They played about half a club shorter than my own irons, but maybe I would have been better off using the graphite shafts for my relatively slow swing speed. Another attraction is price. It's pretty easy to find them in the $280-290 range. That's unbeatable for a top quality iron being used on both the Nike and PGA Tours today. One last good thing about such a durable and venerable design: If you don't play well, you definitely know it's you, not the irons.

While this design has been around for ten years, it is a classic game improvement club. The traditional size has a ""normal"" look in the address position. Good compromise between a traditional ""blade"" and ""oversize"" iron.

These irons play very well. I demoed them today. They are good but can't be bent to a lie angle. You have to have the exact lie angle as the club otherwise it isn't worth buying. It can't be bent at a local proshop or anywhere, they won't bend, they'll just snap.

Owned these clubs for 5 years, sold them for a set of DCI's. Stayed with the DCI's for 2 years until I realized that I was constantly fighting them to control ball flight. I just bought another set of 845s a week ago and I am back in my groove again - pure and sweet. These clubs are long, accurate and easy for me to setup (alignment). I paid $269 at Golfsmith after they matched Mammoth's price.

I just made the switch from graphite to steel with the purchase of these clubs as well as the switch to traditional vice oversized. Now I know why these clubs been around for so long. For the price of what I paid for these clubs (269.00 mammothgolf.com) it was a steal. If your looking for a great set of irons but can't spend the $800.00+, try these clubs out!

I'm one year into my golf game and these irons have been great for me as a beginner. The progressive offset is more forgiving. I believe in ""less is more"" designs and appreciate the clean feel these basic irons provide, letting me develop within myself rather than being dependent on equipment enhancements. As Tommy Armour himself said, ""The action is that of whipping the clubhead through the ball with the hands."" The original 845s Silver Scots encourage that whipping action with excellent results. I use the 3 through 9 and PW, W3 and SW.

Customer Service

My special order of the W3 on 5/21 was not delivered until 8/13 and took too long. It came with a slightly different shaft and grip than I had ordered.

Love these babiies. For some reason I sold the set I had for years and bought the 855s. Guess I got caught up in the marketing. As soon as I can I'm getting another set of 845s. Best set I've evr owned. Responsive. Solid looking. You get what you pay for.
