Bought these ten years ago. Still a great design and a good "combo" set in today's terms. The short irons have less offset and less cavity while the long irons have the opposite. I have been looking very hard hard for a replacement set and have tried the TA7, MX-20 and Hogan CFT. Don't get me wrong, all of the above have a forgiveness advantage over the the original 845s. BUT, for the dollars spent, none are twice as good. Feel is great on center hits. They let you know when you miss the sweet spot, but on almost all misses, you will get a relatively straight shot with some penalty for the bad swing. Seems fair to me. Technology has advanced and the clubs I have mentioned are better in terms of covering mistakes. BUT, let me say again, for the money, these continue to be one of the best designs of all time in terms of feel, workability and forgiveness. Shop carefully and you will be rewarded. It's a silly game, at least make a smart choice on equipment. Customer Service Never needed. Similar Products Used: TA7, MX-20, 762, Hogan CFT |

in golf there is always some goofy new gimmick. these clubs are not gimmicky or expensive, just simple and consistent. these clubs dont have a huge offset or massive cavity back. they are just normal sized, well designed quality clubs. their conservative design has stood the test of time. the low price and quality of these clibs is unmatched, especially considering you can easily pay 1000 for the goofiest new gimmick. you want some quality clubs for a reasonable price? these are your clubs. they hit great. Customer Service never needed it. |

On my second set of 845 silver scott with steel shaft. Been looking to get new irons and hand these down to my son but after testing others like Ping I3s and Titliest I cannot see paying all the extra $$ for clubs I can't hit any better. I am looking into the 845 stripes as I like the new style. I will be owning my 3rd set of 845s my month end. Customer Service Never needed after 10+ years Similar Products Used: Ping Eye 2s |

I started playing golf with a used set of Wilson Staffs, but couldn't hit them consistently enough, so I wanted a good set of irons that provided good feel, tour proven, and won't break my wallet...after reading many reviews and from a personal recommendation from my boss (who at one time was a Class A golf pro)I chose the 845s. Hitting them pure felt real close to hitting a forged blade, real close. But way off centre shots still stung my hands a bit, but the difference was I got little loss in distance. The stock steel shafts are actually True Temper Dyanamic Gold Lite shafts and perform very well. When I first got my irons, I took it to an executive par 3 course and at one stretch, carded 3 pars and a birdie. This club is a compromise of the forgiveness of a cavity back with the feel and workability of a forged blade. These have been out since 1988 and a lot of people still use these today. They are timeless clubs that rank up there with the Ping Eye 2s... Customer Service Never needed them...but I wish they still made the W3 (Gap) Wedge...I could sure use one... Just changed to the Tommy armour 845 stripe irons and they are really sweet. Very easy to hit and the feeling is great. You know when u hit the ball solid, and when u hit them of center u feel that the hit wasen't very good but the ball still fly away nicely. I have just purchased a set of Ping I 3 after playing 845s for 4 years. I miss my 845s. They really had great feel for a cavity back club. I found it pretty easy to shape my shots although not nearly as easy as it was with my old Hogan Apex. The ball flight on these was pretty high with a lot more sit than either my old Hogans or my new Pings. I had 3.3 Amoure graphite shafts on these clubs. I think I would have liked them even more with steel shafts. Distance was good but not as good as a well struck forged blade. I always liked the look of this club and they set up very easily. These clubs really held up over 4 years of much play and even more practice. 845s are excellent quality clubs and now that they are a discontinued model, they can be picked up on e bay for a song. If you are looking for a great deal on a quality set of clubs, this is it. Customer Service I had a shaft snap when I first purchased these clubs. Armour repaired the club but it took a week. Similar Products Used: I hit everything and , at the time, this was the best club of the bunch. It is too early to judge thenm against my new 1 3 Pings. |

Loved em right from the first chance i had to hit them. Consistent yardages and shot dispersion. Instant feedback when i hit them. I had compared to a variety of other clubs, and found nothing that I could hit as consistently well, or had the right feel for me. Can't wait to hit the links!!! Once i get proper sized grips (originals too small for me) I will be all set Customer Service Can only comment on Golftowns service, which was exceptional. thanks Adrian!!!! I love these clubs. I've played them for 13 years. I've tried over and over to find a new, better set, i haven't. First, iron play is my strength. I'm extremely consistent with my irons. I like these clubs because when you hit it right you know it and when you hit off center, you know it. I wouldn't reccomend these to someone with an inconsistent swing (look at the titleist 822OS). Controlling distance is very easy. Distance is good, although not exceptional. My opinion: These clubs are for good players who aren't perfect and need some feedback when they hit it off center so they can groove their swing. Final Verdict: Best club I've ever played. Customer Service Who needs it when your clubs are this good? Similar Products Used: Ping Eye 2 (played for two years, good club, but not for me, not enough feedback). hey guys, here to give update again. still having great success with the 845. been playing guys with callaways and pingi3. the 845 are still holding their own. lately , found out that either im getting better or that the long irons are very easy to hit..been hitting 3 iron around 200 yards and found fairways 9 out of 10. been really impressed. even my friend with pings i3 are impressed. next project is looking at hybrid iron. debating regarding cleveland laucher or taylor made rescue. but throught the reviews, the cleveland may be the right choice. planning to add more distance since regular woods dont pair well with me. will keep u posted. |
