Model Reviewed: TA3 forged

I''m currently getting back into the game after a 5 year lay off due to injury and am playing crap, however when I needed some new irons I was looking for soemthing that looked like my old titleist blades but wouldn''t give me that ringing up the shaft handshake on a cold wet morning (we have a few of those over here). After looking round few shops and trying the forged cavites from Mizuno, Hogan TM and various ganme inprovement castings these clevelands stood out. Several salesman told me these would only suit a pro or a sub 4 handicapper but I''ve learned to trust my first impressions and bought the Clevelands. I had them custom fitted and hving now given them several outings love them to bits. don''t believe the eliteists you can play these off an 18 handicap and although you''ll lose distance on toe hits they won''t crucify you and you''ll find out more about how you''re hitting the ball which will really help. If you''re in the UK though watch out for price differentials as I was often quoted £650 but managed to pick them up for £499 in the end.

Customer Service

Had length loft and grips adjusted from new which took ages as I think UK clubs are assembled in France but when they arrived all specs were ok.

Great clubs, small sweet spot deffinalty aimed at the single figure player, clubs that deffinatly react to your swing and perform well week in week out. Clubs i found consitant in gettin shape on the ball i.e draw and fade when called upon!

I was looking for some new irons and I was wanting the MP-33 but then the guy told me to try the Ta3s and I liked them alot and also they were a lot of cheaper than the Mizunos. I think the Mizunos are an equally fine club but I like the little extra forgiveness in the club. I like to hit the long irons and I like the 2-iron when the faiways are tight. I also like the ability to work the ball and keep the trajectory down. These clubs are awesome and are the next best things to blades. Sensicore shafts are great also. 5 stars all the way!

Customer Service

Never needed them.

Model Reviewed: TA-3 FF Gunmetal

SetUp: TA-3 FF Gunmetal with S-300 shafts. I recently switched from the Mizuno Grad MPs, which were a solid set of irons. The TA-3 is an excellent choice for those who place a premium on forged feel with some limited game improvement features. Playability: Off-center and thin shots play significantly better than with a blade. The best thing is that you can always tell where you hit the ball on the face. Working the ball is a breeze . . . draws, fades and knockdowns are as easy as with a blade. Distance: I lost about 8 yards per club compared with the Mizuno''s, but I think that is due to the weaker lofts on the TA-3. The distances are predictable throughout the set, however, which is more important to better players. Overall: The best iron I have ever played. The perfect combination of near-blade feel with the benefits of perimeter weighting. I highly recommend them for handicaps 15 or less. If you can, get the 900 series FF wedges.

My handicap improved from 18 to 12 playing with Mizuno EZ Comp irons (great improvment irons), last year and I was looking for some new irons to take my game to the next level . After searching for a while I chose the TA3''s. I struggled with these irons for a while although this could be because I switched to stiff shafts for the first time. I now know I have made the right decision after breaking 80 for the first time mainly due to hitting more greens. Im being punished more on bad hits than my old cavity backs but that is not a bad thing as it is telling me more about my swing. These irons give you good feedback and when you catch them flush they are an absolute joy. Apart from blades they must be the best looking irons on the market

These are very nice, very accurate and very workable clubs. The gunmetal sets up great to the white ball. However . . . I think they are just a bit too UNforgiving on think hits. In fact, they are not really much more forgiving than a blade. If you are looking for a soft, forged club, consider the Hogan Apex Plus (much better value, which is why I gave the TA-3''s a "3" on value).

Don''t buy these! You will lose major distance (2 clubs) and the forgiveness is not there. Go with the Ping I3''s or Callaways if you want the forgiveness without sacrificing distance. I played with these clubs for one season and hate them. I thought there would be an adjustment period........it never ended.

A phenomenal club all the way around. I was playing the Top Flite Tour OS, but decided that for 579 with custom fitting and a free FF 900 series wedge, why not. I gained 35 yards on long irons and 20 on the short. This is probably not all the club, but they do give confidence and I recommend custom fitting of clubs to anyone. My swing feels more fluid and consistent now. Even without the offset of the Top Flite''s, I''m hitting a slight draw, but straight every time. Since most pros have a slight draw, something must be working.

I decided that after playing Tommy Armour 845 Oversize for about 2 years that it was time for a new set of sticks. I tried out many differ- ent sets: Titleist 981 & 990, Ping I3 O-Size, and Ben Hogan Apex Plus and none of those sets really stuck to me (though the Hogan Apex''s are very beautiful and very capable of producing great golf shots and feel). I finally came across these TA-3 FF by Cleveland. I fell in love with their appearance (I got the chrome finish). Very clean, crisp design. I hit them at the range a bit and was even more transported to a state of Nirvana. The feel was awesome, like butter when you strike the sweet spot (yes, there is a sweet spot on these clubs, unlike some other ultra forgiving, game muting sets out there) and distance was great, about a club & a half further than my 845''s. The clubs inspire confidence at address though the head is smaller and practically zero offset. These clubs aren''t the most forgiving on the market, but that is exactly what I was looking for. I like the fact that when I hit a good golf shot it is ME that hits the shot, not the club. Because of the very negligable offset, these sticks promote accuracy. Very easy to fade or draw the ball at will. I used to have a nasty snap hook because I got to fast with my hands through the hitting area, though still a tendancy which I am working on, with the less offset my bad snap hooks aren''t OB any more. My only Sub 80 scores have been with these clubs. My handicap is now a 10.93 & getting better everyday, not because of these clubs, but because these clubs have inspired me to become a better golfer. I have now become a Cleveland Golf man. I play the Quadpro Ti driver (9.5 degrees) and Quadpro 3 wood (15 degrees) as well, both awesome clubs. Soon I will be buying another set of TA-3 FF as my main set while my current set will become my practice and travel set. I recommed these clubs for any golfer who is dedicated to improving their golf game
