TaylorMade 300 Irons

TaylorMade 300 Irons

DESCRIPTION

From TaylorMade: "The traditional look comes from the thin topline, mirror chrome finish, straight leading edge and minimal offset. The modern conveniences of optimal weighting and center of gravity are achieved through TaylorMade's exclusive trapezoidal cavity pad, which is placed behind the impact zone to maintain ball velocity and preserve feel. Like the 320 and 360 irons, the long irons in the Forged 300 set have negative bounce to help create lift, while the short irons have positive bounce to prevent ballooned shots."

This is an excellent club for beginners to mid-handicapper. It provides good feedback and consistent distance. I have been using this for 5 yrs and completely satisfied with this irons that have helped me shaved my handicap by a lot of strokes.

Forged irons are not only for low handycappers any more. Those who want a feeling on their hands should try this irons. In terms of distance and control, I don't see much improvement probably since I am a high handicapper. But, I absolutely love the soft feeling when I hit the ball right. This iron allows me to enjoy golf even more.

These clubs have a great feel and a low boring trajectory to help me hit the ball longer. The short irons produce a lot of spin into the greens and the workability of the clubs is great.

Got fitted and tested out a bunch of irons. Thought I''''d like the Mizuno MX-20, and tried to, but it just didn''''t work well for me. Wanted to go forged--or at least give forged clubs serious look-see. I ended up hitting the Titleist 822 OS (a cavity back) with good, consistent results, but the TM 300s were a much nicer looking and feeling iron. And while my mis-hits with them weren''''t quite as good as mis-hits with the 822s, my good hits made up for that. PS: I bought the 4-PW set, dropping the 3 iron. I can''''t hit a 21 degree iron, and why should I, when I have a 22 deg. sevenwood in my bag?

Wonderful clubs. For the last couple of years I''ve been playing both my Mizuno MP33''s and my ping I3''s. Both are great irons. If I could just blend the two. I did. The Taylor Made 300''s combine the exactness and feedback of my Mizuno''s with the forgiveness of the pings. I often hear how the 300''s are for a low handicap player. Nonsense. If you just started golfing two days ago and you shoot 163, don''t buy these clubs. Obviously they are not as forgiving as your classic cast cavity-back iron. They are not the easiest iron to hit, but they are not on the same level as a traditional blade. A mid hanicapper can hit these clubs. They are quite forgiving, and precise. The bladelike feedback combined with the MODERATE forgiveness of the 300''s is great for a up and coming golfer. ADVICE- These are not as forgiving as your Callaway, Ping, etc.- They are clubs for a golfer that will put in time on the range. The forgiveness they offer will be revealed with range time, a little more than normal. Don''t go to extremes, just hit them a little more. ALSO- When you purchase the set, get fitted (better long than short, you can always trim the shaft down)- get 2 or 3 through wedge for value. BUT- what I did and MANY tour players do is this-- *I reccomend purchasing the Taylor made 2-4 320''s. When your 200 yds out do you want to hit the green or stick thre pin? Hit the green. The 300''s are wonderful, but more forgiving long irons are the way to go, always. Look at Mickelson- he has his blades wedge though 6, cavity''s 2-5. I heard him say a few weeks ago-"why would I hit a 2 or 3 or 4 iron blade"? something like that at least. So buy the set of 300''s 2 or 3-W, and a few extra, more forgiving long irons. You will love these clubs, BUT they deserve a little more face time than normal - the feedback will be wonderful. They offer almost all of the precision of a blade, with some of the forgiveness of a cavity - the 300''s are a in-between clubthat can be utilized by tour players to mid handicappers that at least spend a few hrs on the range each week. A little xtra time on the range will benefit anyone with these clubs. So if your struggling to break 100, don''t shy away from these clubs.

I like these irons A LOT. They let you pretty much point and shoot. Consistant distance, accuracy and feel. They''''re beautifully crafted. Very traditional. These irons have dropped 5 strokes off my game.

I''m a 25 year old scratch golfer who spends about six hrs a day on my game. I''m shooting for the big time. I love these clubs- bought them three months ago. I was bouncing back and forth between my mizuno mp33''s and ping I3 blades. I loved them both but wasn''t completely satisfied. They are without a doubt the nicest clubs I have ever hit. And I''ve hit them all.PRECISE, very precise, also, gained 7yds with the rifle shafts. With the slight cavity they are easier to hit than the mizuno''s. They are quite forgiving with great feel on miss hits. You are basically getting the best of both worlds- the precision and workability of a blade with the forgiveness of a cavity. But we must not use the term forgiving loosely- middle of the road forgiving.-- ADVICE- obviously these clubs are more difficult to hit than your typical forgiving cavity, and easier than a true blade. You don''t have to be scratch or low to hit these. THE KEY IS THIS- my reccomendation to everyone - scratch, low, mid these MIX up the set- I have the 300''s in pw-5 iron- I hit the 320''s 4,3,2 (I also bought a second 2 iron and added 1 degree of loft creating a 2-3 iron so I could keep my 52, 56, &60 wedges in my bag). I hit my 5 205, when you are further out than your 5, you aren''t looking at a tucked pin, you want to hit the green (many tour players do this- Mickelson was talking about it a few weeks a go.He said something like this " why would I hit a 3 iron blade? It doesn''t make sense".)Yes they are great clubs, but to recieve the forgiveness they have you might want to hit the range a little more often.

Mine are fitted with Steel Riffle Shaft 5.5 (Custom)half way between Regular (5.0) and Stiff (6.0). I was told that Shafts were the engine of Golf Clubs, measuring own swing speed (on simulator), then choosing the right shaft did the trick for me. These are not for beginners, they suit Handicap 15 players or lower, as they have hardly any offset, they look weird at address (thin top line and no offset); when not hit close to the sweet spot, expect a nasty vibration in the left wrist; having said that are more forgiving (bigger faces) than muscle back forged blades. When hit reasonnably close to the sweet spot, their feel is terrific, and the flight I am able to produce is both longer (Carry) and higher than with my previous clubs. For the player who intends go down in HCP, with these Irons it is possible to shape the shots (draw or fade ) even if it is easier said than done, at least for me so far. A very good product , with no gimmicks, reasonnably priced for its quality and looks, well done again TM

Just picked up these clubs virtually brand new on Ebay for $420. I just switched from the Titleist 981''s and these things are between 1/2 club and 1 full club longer. The control is where these things shine. I can hit it high, low, left and right on command. I shoot from 80-85 so I thought I''d step up to a club with less offset than the 981''s. These irons set up perfect to the ball, have a thin top-line and are a sinch to aim. The feel is amazing also. The head is just slightly larger than your average forged blade''s head but also a bit more forgiving. My brother plays Mizuno MP33''s and they truly have a similar feel. I''ve hit them back to back plenty of times. I happen to hit these clubs longer than the MP''s as well and he used to blow by my shots with the Titleist irons I was playing previously. You deserve to give them a try. I found it surprisingly easy to hit towering high mid and long irons if so desired which was impossible for me to do with the DCI''s. I lowered my handicap last season from a 16 to an 11 and really think these clubs are going to do the trick for me to break into single digits. They are VERY, VERY accurate.

I have found Excalibur. I have played everything out there (see below for all other sets used and now for sale). This is the total package, great head, great shaft. Its forged and forgiving. Its longer than other forged clubs. Its easy to work the ball, it hits the ball a bit lower with more control. I stand over a 210 shot with no fear of missing my target, while knowing that I will probably get the shot I''ve invisioned. As you know golf is everything about confidence, and I can tell you that I will be playing these for a while. All other sets of clubs owned are now up for sale, really.
