i got these my 3rd year playing ( a year ago) and i couldn't be happier with them, i was going to get either these or the mizuno irons. THe ping, taylor made, big bertha irons are all for beginner golfers, the 990's are designed great, i always get them to check up when i hit the green and i myself have never had a problem hitting them my irons i had before these were the dci's with the black triangle which were cavity back and i was worried about how well id be able to hit these becuase i heard theyre hard to hit, but for me they werent any harder to hit and even the these lofts are 1 degree higher then my old ones i immediatly gained 5 yards on each club and i couldnt be more pleased with this. and i dont feel like anyone that shoots in the 90's can blame a club, of course it will be hard to hit if you have a bad swing Customer Service none needed |

First of all, all the reviews advising the high handicapper to avoid.. is somewhat misleading. Sure you need to have good swing mechanics, but if you are working on it to get better..these clubs will give you the feedback. Maybe the occasional weekend hacker should stay away. I've played offset clubs from Golfsmith for a couple years and the first time I went to the range with these irons.. I have to admit it was horrific for about 3/4 of a bucket of balls. Then everything came together and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The feel is so sweet on solid contact, and I found the penaltly for miss-hits not as harsh as I had been reading. I look foward to scoring and getting better with these clubs. Customer Service N/A |

I love these irons. I've had them for about two years now. They are a bit unforgiving, but a bad shot is a bad shot. If I mis-hit(had to add the hyphen to avoid the profanity detector) these (a typical mis-hit for me is on the toe a bit), it does feel horrible. But when I hit them reasonably, I get great results. Thin shots are not penalized too badly as they were supposedly designed with that in mind. I think I remember reading that on Titleist's website when I was researching them. Anyway, they really are great. The look at address is rock solid, they are very workable, and they are very accurate. If I put a good swing on the ball, the shot is straight as an arrow. What more can I ask? |

Wow. What can I say? I switched to these after playing some sucky cast irons. They are incredible. The feel is superb, silky smooth when you are swinging well. Not so hot on miss-hits but thats how it is with forged irons. I can keep these guys nice and low and spin them better than anything else I've ever hit. These clubs are probably not so good for higher handicap players, not like I am a superstar or anything, but they dont feel very good on miss-hits and are not as forgiving as perimeter weighted cast clubs. Customer Service I haven't had to call Titleist about the 990s yet, but I have called them for other stuff, and Titleist does not have the best customer service. Great clubs for lower handicap players. Looks like a blade and feels like a blade. Pure a shot and WOW! what an amazing feeling, miss a shot and WOW! what a horrible feeling. Probably not as forgiving as some would think but very workable. Overall a good set of sticks. Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: Titleist 981, Maxfli Aus.Blades |

I''ve looked at many of the negative reviews for these clubs, and feel I must address them. If you are looking for the clubs that will shoot straight and long every time, don''t buy these clubs. If you are looking for clubs that will hit consistently even if you connect "fat" or "thin", don''t buy these clubs. If you are looking for the clubs that will "fix" your game, don''t buy these clubs. I was a terrible ball striker when I got these clubs, and shot normally 100+. I bought these clubs knowing they were players'' clubs. I knew if I could hit these well, I had to be doing something right. I''ve worked hard for 2 years, and as a result of Joe Tesori and these clubs which FORCE you to hit them correctly, I hit the ball like I only dreamed I would be able to 2 years ago. And once I learn how to putt (I suck at it), I''ll be in the 70s. Customer Service None used |

I am sorry to say I have to turn in a bad review for the 990''s. These clubs are hard to hit and you must put in a lot of time on the practice range to get the most out of them. I normally shoot in the high 80''s and find these clubs just too unforgiving. Of course when you hit the sweet spot the ball flies well and true. I have played these clubs for two years and finally have decided to give them up for a mid size cavity back. Do not take these criticisms too seriously if you are a low handicapper. You can work the ball right or left with these clubs just fine. If you are mid to high I suggest looking elsewhere. So I''m not that great, so what. Anyways, all I have to say that I love these clubs. Only problem that I had was that it took me over a month to get my swing down and countless lessons to smoothen out my swing. These clubs are fantastic, but you really have to have a solid swing to use ''em. I honestly think that it''s true what Titleist says, these are for serious golfers and your swing must be down pact to use these. Thanks City Golf of Boston for all the help, my scores gone down 20 strokes already and I''m hoping that it''ll get down even lower. :) Similar Products Used: Wilson Pro Staff Oversized, Mizuno Sure, Callaway X-14 |

Purchased 8months ago. This DCI 990 irons are excellent for mid to low handicap users. They provide an excellent feel when you hit it very solid. When I first got these, I had trouble getting used to the club but soon, just when I got used to this club these were amazing. If you hit a cut, or skull the shot, it''s going to get you. The ball would not go as far as it should or go far as it should. I love the Pitching Wedge on this because, when I''m within 130yards I hit down to get the ball spinning in the air. These irons are great. Customer Service None Similar Products Used: Tommy Armour V-31 |

I wanted to wait to write a review and have a fair review posted on here. I have been using the 990s for about a year now. I wanted to get something that I was not going to outgrow for a while and something that was going to force me to develop a proper swing - that is exactly what the 990s do. I had been using the Taylor Made Firesoles with Graphite bubble shaft for a couple of years before then. Firesoles are very nice clubs as well. But with the Firesoles I could get the distance, hit the ball pretty well, no vibration, no feel, and the ball was all over the place. I could never get a consistent score. Please keep in mind that at the time I was shooting in the high 90s low 100s. I had some friends who were using Titleist and recommended that I take a closer look at the 981s or the 990s. After doing some research I finally decided to go with the 990s a year ago thinking "my god, these are going to be hard to get used to" but I was willing to make a committment to improve my game. Quite frankly, it DID take a little while to get used to the clubs. I have been using the clubs for a year and have reduced my score to low 80s and couldn''t be thrilled. I LOVE THESE CLUBS. I have read many people write that people with high and mid handicaps should stay away from these... I would say that absolute "beginners" should stay away from these... but if you''ve been playing a little while, have a decent grasp of the basic swing... these clubs will help you refine your swing and teach you to strike the ball properly... a nice smooth fluid swing and the clubs do the work for you. Even the longer irons get the ball airborn easily with a beautiful ball flight. I have lost some distance with these clubs, but accuracy is more important to me now. Again, if you''re committed to improving your golf game and are willing to work at it, then I would highly recommend these. Dont be discouraged with a few mis-hits with the 990s, just go to the driving range 2-3 times a week for a month or so and you''ll be hitting these better !!!
